Kudos to the Pirates for taking on the big boys in their nonconference schedule. This going to be their second game against the ACC and so far they are 1-0
This time they hit the road and even though they are significant dogs I strongly believe they can win the game.

Virginia Tech had one of the best performances of last week as they crushed Boston College.
As such they might be overrated heading into this one. They are at home and playing a non Power 5 team but the line seems a little heavy. They even lost to ECU last season so its not like the Pirates are going to be afraid.
If you want to play Virginia Tech you might want to wait a little. .
ECU Pirates
When all is said and done the Pirates have to be kicking themselves about losing to South Carolina last week.
Not only would it have been a plum win against the SEC but it could have launched what might have been a very special season.
If you look closely, a win over VT this week would have given them 3 Power 5 wins which at the very least might have helped Houston, should they play in the AAC title game.
Anyways, dare to dream Pirates fans. I was right there with you.

Against South Carolina the Pirates rolled up 519 yards of offense. Essentially turnovers – 2 picks and 2 fumbles – did them in. If they play clean against VT they can win.
Last week Isaiah Jones caught 22 passes. That is a good month for most players and he is on pace to have his best season ever as a senior. QB Philip Nelson was 44/58 against SC and will be happy to fling it around this week.
Key for East Carolina will be there emotional state. They have to get off the mat quckly.
Virginia Tech Hokies
After losing to Tennessee the jury was out on just how good Virginia Tech is this season. We now have another data point – a 49-0 thrashing of Boston College – but I am still not sure.
The win against BC was complete. On offense they put up more 450 yards against what is considered to be at least a top 25 defense. Meanwhile, they only yielded 124 yards of offense to the Eagles.
East Carolina will definitely push that defense more the BC was capable of.

QB Jerod Evans has been a nice development this season. I don’t want to say surprise because originally he was very highly touted before going the JC route.
He has developed a nice chemistry with Isaiah Ford, an underrated receiver nationally. Virginia Tech can keep up with ECU offensively if it turns into that kind of game.
I am actually kind of curious to see the way this one plays out.

Handicapping emotion is always difficult. If you think ECU can stay high after last week you might want to look at them as a first half option.
When you look at the entire game, Virginia Tech is a better team that South Carolina, if you are looking at comparisons.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: East Carolina -11
VT coach Justin Fuente was in the AAC last year so I don’t think he is going to take ECU lightly. Still, coming off the big win last week it might be hard to get his guys to dig in.
That will be just the opening the Pirates need to make this one a game thoughout.
Virginia Tech wins but this one is likely to be pretty close.
