This cross-state rivalry is a big one and important for both teams, who are both sitting at 1-1. The Rams are the betting underdog at home facing a Colorado squad that is coming off a 48-14 blowout win over UMASS.
Colorado State is also coming off a blowout win over cream puff Savannah State, but they played well in the season opening 3-point loss to Minnesota where they covered the spread.

Last season Colorado State beat Colorado 31-17.
Colorado
Buffaloes QB Sefo Liufau did not put up big numbers in the win over UMASS, but he limited his mistakes and was 15/24 for 168 yards with 1 TD and 0 INT. he has a decent WR corps, but if Colorado is going to get the win in this game they will need to run the ball well.
Michael Adkins II and Christian Powell each had over 100 yards rushing in the win over UMASS and they will be facing a Colorado State run defense that ranks 72nd in the nation after 2 games. If the Rams can keep these guys in check they have a great chance to win the game.
In Colorado’s lone loss on the season in the opening game facing Hawaii they outgained the Warriors, but they had 3 turnovers and that killed them.

The Rams are 22-62-2 against Colorado in the all-time series.
Colorado State
One of the main reasons CSU beat CU last season was that they rushed for 266 yards. The Rams have a RB by committee attack this season with Joe Hansley leading the squad so far with 126 yards, but 4 players have at least 55 rushing yards on the young season.
CSU Nick Stevens was solid in the win over Savannah after a less than impressive OT loss to Minnesota in the season opener and he has All-America wide receiver Rashard Higgins back who missed that game. Colorado’s defense has been pretty good on the season, but the Rams will be their biggest test to date.

After 2 games Colorado ranks 59th in the nation in total defense and CSU ranks 47th.
