2016 Big 10 Season Football Preview
Looking for Big 10 Conference 2016 predictions? The Conference has been quite entertaining over the past seasons. Last season was filled with plenty of drama. A botched snap on a punt with seconds to go, a field goal as time expired, and a late touchdown drive in the Big Ten title game all captured what was an entertaining conference season.

This year should feature much of the same drama as the top of the conference features many contenders.
Big 10 Conference 2016 Odds: Ohio State Buckeyes (6/5)
Ohio State was arguably one play away from being in the National Championship.
On a rainy night in Columbus, the Buckeyes offense stalled out and after a Michigan State field goal as time expired went through the uprights, so did Ohio State’s chances at a title.

That was the lone blemish in the Buckeyes schedule last season and things will be similar in conference play once again. Ohio State will be on the road in East Lansing, but get a much more experienced Michigan team at home.
Not much else in terms of the conference scares the Buckeyes.
Those two games will likely determine their fate of whether or not they’ll find themselves in the title game.
JT Barrett, who lost the job and then won it back mid-season, will be the playmaker to watch for this team.
With Elliot no long in the backfield with him, Barrett will have to really rely on his arm more, as opposing defenses will no longer have to worry about stacking the box to rush the backfield.
Big 10 Conference 2016 Odds: Michigan Wolverines (8/5)
Michigan was on the unfortunate end of one of the greatest finishes in CFB history.
The Wolverines simply had to get a punt off to defeat Michigan State at home as time was expiring.

A botched snap, a bounce that literally went in stride to MSU, found its way into the end zone, ultimately ending the Wolverines chances at a conference title.
The task is tall though for this Michigan team. Jim Harbaugh certainly overachieved in his first season as head coach, but they were blown away by the Buckeyes at home in their season finale.
Michigan will need somebody to replace Jake Rudock, but besides that this team has a lot of its main personnel returning.
Look for them to lean heavily on their defense, with the game in Columbus potentially determining a spot in the Conference Title Game.
Big 10 Conference 2016 Odds: Iowa Hawkeyes (6/1)
From the West side of things, Iowa is the team to beat.
The Hawkeyes were seconds away from defeating the Spartans in last seasons title game, but a late drive by the MSU offense was too much for the Hawkeyes defense to stop.
Iowa prides itself on the ground on pound. This team won’t make explosive, deep plays down field on a regular basis.
They will rely heavily on LeShun Daniels and Akrum Wadley, who will get the work load from the back field this season.
Iowa’s season finale against rival Nebraska, could be the one that determines the West.
Big 10 Conference 2016 Odds: Nebraska Cornhuskers (7/1)
Nebraska’s returning corp offensively may be the best in the conference.
They return 9 starters, headlined by QB Tommy Armstrong. Last season, Armstrong led the Cornhuskers offense to an average of 447 yards per game.
Jordan Westerkamp, who was his main target last season and a big downfield threat, returns looking to make an even bigger impact than last season.

Nebraska’s run game is the biggest key to their success. They rushed for over 200 yards 4 times in 2015 and it really opened the game for Armstrong to find Westerkamp downfield.
Like his runningbacks, Armstrong can beat teams with his legs as well, which completely opens up the options in the backfield for Nebraska.
Having to deal with the Buckeyes, from the East, on the road, isn’t the most ideal, but this offense has the ability to compete with the best.
