As the landscape shifts it is looking more and more like the demise of Alabama might have been a little premature.
Arkansas’ season has been a bit of a bust but they have the same conference record as Bama coming in…a win and who knows what we start thinking about them.
Last year the Razorbacks almost nipped the Tide as part of their sleeper surge.
I don’t want to declare that the Razorbacks are turning around their season but their win at Tennessee was their biggest positive to date. Adding to that momentum will be tough this week, again on the road.
Last week against the Vols they finally got a two headed running attack going. Alex Collins did the heavy lifting with 154 yards on 27 carries while Rawleigh Williams III ran for another 100, his best game to date. This is in keeping with how Arkansas plays when they are playing their best.
Last year when these teams met it was a defensive battle with Arkansas outgaining Alabama by more than 100 yards. A failed PAT in the first half proved costly in a one point loss. That team was a lot more experienced defensively.
Alabama is not as explosive on offense as they were a year ago but the chances of Arkansas competing are likely to hinge on their defense yet again. Especially because that Alabama defense can be a monster.
A win is unlikely but the Razorbacks can still show progress with a good showing.
Last week was classic Alabama under Nick Saban. They went on the road against a ranked opponents and demonstrated they didn’t deserve to be on the field with the Tide. They are good at that.
The win over Georgia was nice last week but equally valuable was the continued development of quarterback Jacob Coker, who is learning when he needs to demonstrate his physical gifts and when he can just run the offense. There is a lot in place around him.
After last week it is hard not to want to get behind Alabama. After the Utah win over Oregon their victory over the dogs last week is as good as anybody else’s all season long.
The question is whether to factor in a letdown in any of your handicapping efforts.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Prediction
A focused Alabama should have not trouble winning every quarter of this game and covering as a result.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Arkansas +16.5
However, I think they might be super primed for that letdown and struggle early. A couple of ARK scores keep this one around 10 points by the end.
