10-16-23 | Blackhawks v. Maple Leafs OVER 6.5 | 4-1 | Loss | -120 | 15 h 43 m | Show
Auston Matthews will look to continue his torrid scoring pace Monday night when his Toronto Maple Leafs face the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Matthews scored three goals for the second consecutive game Saturday night in a 7-4 win over the Minnesota Wild. He also scored three times against the Montreal Canadiens in the season opener, a 6-5 shootout win Wednesday night. Toronto will end a three-game, season-opening homestand against prized rookie Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks, who lost 3-2 at Montreal on Saturday. Matthews has nine career hat tricks. He is the fifth player in NHL history to have a hat trick in each of his first two games to start a season, joining Alex Ovechkin (2017-18), Cy Denneny (1917-18), Joe Malone (1917-18) and Reg Noble (1917-18). |

10-15-23 | Lightning v. Senators UNDER 6.5 | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 44 m | Show |
10-13-23 | Penguins v. Capitals OVER 6.5 | Top | 4-0 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 4 m | Show |
Pittsburgh played Tuesday, but the Penguins didn't exactly turn the page as they hoped. Despite a roughly 50 percent turnover in the roster during the offseason, they were plagued by lingering frustrations from last season. They had some defensive lapses, didn't rev the engines later in the game and blew a two-goal lead in a 4-2 setback to the Chicago Blackhawks. Most of Pittsburgh's newcomers could be described as players in support roles. The main guys, then, saw all-too-familiar problems in the opening loss. Last season, the Penguins lost nine games in which they led after two periods. They'll be plenty of scoring in this one. |

10-13-23 | Coyotes v. Devils OVER 6.5 | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 47 m | Show |
The New Jersey Devils know what it's like to finally see a lengthy rebuild produce results. Now the Arizona Coyotes would like to begin experiencing the same thing. The Coyotes will open their season Friday night when they oppose Devils in Newark, N.J., the beginning of a four-game Arizona road trip. The Devils, fresh off their deepest trip into the Stanley Cup playoffs in more than a decade, will be completing a back-to-back set at home after edging the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in their season opener on Thursday. The Devils snapped a four-season playoff drought last year. They collected a franchise-record 112 points in the regular season before outlasting the New York Rangers in a seven-game first-round series -- New Jersey's first postseason series victory since reaching the Stanley Cup Final in the spring of 2012. New Jersey fell to the Carolina Hurricanes in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals, but the taste of playoff success was enough for management to double down on its young core and coaching staff. General manager Tom Fitzgerald signed Timo Meier, who turned 27 this week, and 25-year-old Jesper Bratt to eight-year contracts while also re-signing 32-year-old left winger Erik Haula, who was one of just four Devils skaters aged 30 or older last season. In addition, head coach Lindy Ruff received a multiyear extension on Wednesday. Jack Hughes, who collected a franchise-record 99 points while playing as a 21-year-old last season, scored twice in a span of 5:04 late in the second period Thursday to help the Devils overcome an early deficit. |

10-11-23 | Jets v. Flames OVER 6 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 19 h 54 m | Show
The Flames are counting on players such as No. 1 goalie Jacob Markstrom and top-level forwards Jonathan Huberdeau, Elias Lindholm and Nazem Kadri to regain their form of previous seasons. Calgary will also integrate a couple of important newcomers in rookie Matt Coronato and Yegor Sharangovich, acquired from the New Jersey Devils in the summer. As for the Jets, they boast a trio of new faces in forwards Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo and Rasmus Kupari, who were all acquired in the offseason trade that sent second-line center Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Los Angeles Kings. An even bigger story was the news on Monday that top-line center Mark Scheifele and star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck both re-signed on long-term deals. Both could have become unrestricted free agents after the season but elected to sign seven-year extensions worth $8.5 million per season. Now able to focus more on the season, the Jets will try to improve their squad by inserting third-year NHLer Cole Perfetti into the second-line center spot after mainly playing as a winger. Perfetti, who collected eight goals and 30 points in 51 games last season, has one advantage while attempting to evolve his game: Scheifele has been tutoring him. |

10-11-23 | Blackhawks v. Bruins OVER 6 | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -108 | 16 h 18 m | Show |
A pair of Original Six franchises at the beginning of new eras will clash on Wednesday night when the host Boston Bruins open their season against rookie sensation Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago caps a back-to-back after scoring four unanswered goals to lift the lid on its season with a 4-2 win at Pittsburgh on Tuesday. After scoring the NHL's fewest goals during their 26-win 2022-23 campaign, the Blackhawks are looking to the 18-year-old Bedard to provide a major offensive spark. The most recent No. 1 overall draft pick became the youngest player to record a point in his NHL debut since 2013, getting an assist on Ryan Donato's second-period goal. Bedard's five shots on goal in 21:29 of ice time were a team high. |
10-10-23 | Blackhawks v. Penguins OVER 6.5 | 4-2 | Loss | -115 | 31 h 56 m | Show
It's the NHL season opener for both teams Tuesday, a time for the Pittsburgh Penguins and visiting Chicago Blackhawks to unveil their lineups and get a new start toward trying to return to the playoffs. However, that all could be overshadowed by a specific matchup. Pittsburgh captain, center and sure Hall of Fame inductee Sidney Crosby will be on the opposite side from Chicago highly touted rookie center Connor Bedard, the top pick in the 2023 draft. Crosby, entering his 19th NHL season, has led the Penguins to three Stanley Cup titles, has 550 goals and 1,502 points in 1,190 games and has won two Hart (MVP), two Art Ross (scoring title) and two Conn Smythe (playoff MVP) trophies. Now 36, he hasn't changed his approach as he's aged. |

10-10-23 | Predators v. Lightning UNDER 6.5 | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -120 | 29 h 35 m | Show |
Tampa Bay will begin its quest for a fourth Stanley Cup on Tuesday by hosting the Nashville Predators, but the Lightning will do it under decidedly unfamiliar circumstances. Coach Jon Cooper's group will be without star goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy for at least the first two months after the 2019 Vezina Trophy winner underwent back surgery in late September. That predicament -- playing perhaps one-third of the season's games without one of the NHL's premier backstops -- adds pressure to not let the campaign slip away before 2024 arrives. Cooper will turn to Swedish goaltender Jonas Johansson, 28, whose track record over 35 career NHL matches suggests the Lightning's offense will need to be in top form. Over his four-year career, Johansson is 11-13-4 with a 3.35 goals-against average and an .886 save percentage, though he did play his best hockey in two recent stints with the Colorado Avalanche. In his first two starts this preseason, he denied a combined 67 shots in shutouts over the Carolina Hurricanes (42 saves) and Florida Panthers (25). Don't overreact, that's exactly what this number is counting on. |

03-27-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Wild OVER 6 | 1-5 | Push | 0 | 10 h 24 m | Show
Seattle's Matty Beniers has long been considered the favorite for the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL's top rookie. After all, how many first-year players are centering the top line for a team that appears bound for the playoffs? But there have been a few bumps in the road for Beniers, whose wild-card leading Kraken (40-24-8, 88 points) face a potential first-round Western Conference playoff preview when they travel Monday to Minnesota (42-22-9, 93 points). Beniers snapped a 13-game goalless drought in a 7-2 victory Saturday at Nashville. That gave him 20 goals and 50 points on the season. "That happens in hockey, it's a lot of games and you go without scoring," said Beniers, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft who made a 10-game cameo with the expansion Kraken last season after finishing his University of Michigan campaign. "Not everyone but some guys do and that's part of the game. You've just got to get through it, play your game and not think about it too much." Beniers built up his rookie-of-the-year resume early in the season, scoring 17 goals and adding 19 assists before a blind-side hit from Vancouver's Tyler Myers in late January gave Beniers a concussion and prevented him from participating in the All-Star Game. Beniers has produced just three goals and 11 assists in the two months since. |
03-27-23 | Canadiens v. Sabres UNDER 7 | 4-3 | Push | 0 | 9 h 30 m | Show
Though the Buffalo Sabres may fall short of ending their lengthy playoff drought, they continue to push. Meanwhile, the Montreal Canadiens are just looking to finish a disappointing season in strong fashion. The Sabres aim for a third consecutive victory when they host the Canadiens on Monday night. With 10 games left in the regular season, Buffalo (35-31-6, 76 points) has a chance to post at least 40 wins for the first time since 2010-11. That was also the last time the Sabres made the playoffs. However, they entered Sunday six points out of the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, with a team ahead of them. Buffalo is just 4-8-2 since Feb. 28, but two of those victories have come in the last two games. Kyle Okposo broke a scoreless tie in the third period, Jeff Skinner added an empty-netter and Eric Comrie stopped 26 shots in a 2-0 road victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. |
03-26-23 | Avalanche v. Coyotes OVER 6.5 | 4-3 | Win | 109 | 6 h 7 m | Show
Following a promising sweep of a four-game homestand, the Arizona Coyotes have followed with a three-game road losing streak. A 3-1 defeat to the Colorado Avalanche on Friday made the Coyotes 0-2-1 over the last three contests. Arizona now looks to exact a bit of revenge when the teams meet again Sunday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz. Arizona (27-34-12, 66 points) has won six in a row at home where it is a solid 20-11-3. The Coyotes defeated the visiting Avalanche on Dec. 27, and they can earn a split of the season series with a win Sunday. They hung tough with the Avalanche on Friday night in Denver until giving up two goals in the third period. It was also the third game in four nights for Arizona, but it wasn't an excuse for coach Andre Tourigny. |
03-25-23 | Jets v. Kings UNDER 6 | 1-4 | Win | 104 | 4 h 25 m | Show
The Los Angeles Kings are amid their longest points streak of the season -- a stretch that began last month with a victory over the Winnipeg Jets, who appear back to their winning ways following a bumpy span. Looking to run that points streak to 11 games, the host Kings will try to keep the visiting Jets from a third consecutive victory on Saturday. Currently second in the Pacific Division, Los Angeles (41-20-10, 92 points) has outscored its opponents 42-23 during its 8-0-2 stretch - one game shy of matching the club record set in 1974 and matched in 2011 and 2013. Adrian Kempe had two goals with an assist and Carl Grundstrom also scored twice as 14 players posted at least one point for the Kings, who matched their highest-scoring game of the season with Monday's 8-2 rout of visiting Calgary to improve to 9-0-2 at home since the All-Star break. |
03-20-23 | Panthers v. Red Wings OVER 6.5 | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 16 h 19 m | Show
The Florida Panthers have surged into contention for a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. They'll try to collect two more valuable points when they visit the Detroit Red Wings on Monday night. Florida is 5-0-1 over its past six games, including a 4-2 victory Saturday over New Jersey. The Panthers (35-27-7, 77 points) are in third place in the race for the conference's two wild-card berths. Florida trails the New York Islanders by three points in the chase and the Pittsburgh Penguins by one point. Sam Reinhart scored two goals to lead Florida past New Jersey on Saturday. "This is the most fun time to play," he said. "The atmosphere (Saturday), you could sense it right from the start. The fans know what position we're in. We're enjoying the battle. It was nice to get that (win) on home ice." |
02-26-23 | Blue Jackets v. Wild OVER 5.5 | 2-3 | Loss | -119 | 3 h 53 m | Show
Some strong defensive play has keyed the Minnesota Wild's surge over the past two weeks. The Columbus Blue Jackets experienced that firsthand earlier this week. Looking to extend their point streak to six games, the host Wild will try to beat the Blue Jackets for the second time in four days on Sunday at Saint Paul, Minn. Minnesota allowed 12 goals while losing its first three games in regulation out of the All-Star break. However, the Wild have since yielded just 13 non-shootout goals during their current 5-1-2 stretch. The Wild's four-game winning streak ended Friday night at Toronto, but they still managed to earn a point in the 2-1 overtime setback. Brandon Duhaime scored for the third time in four games and Filip Gustavsson made 22 saves for the Wild, who are 4-0-1 since losing back-to-back games versus Florida and Colorado - both at home - on Feb. 13 and 15. |
02-19-23 | Predators v. Wild UNDER 6 | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -115 | 4 h 1 m | Show |
The Nashville Predators will look to build on a rare offensive explosion when they visit the stingy Minnesota Wild in a Central Division matchup on Sunday. Nashville, which had lost three of four games while totaling five goals, erupted for a new season high in a 7-3 win against the visiting Florida Panthers on Saturday. Tommy Novak scored two goals, Roman Josi had a goal and two assists, and Ryan Johansen had a goal and an assist as Nashville rallied from a 2-1 first-period deficit. Kevin Lankinen made 30 saves, and Ryan McDonagh tied his career high with three assists. The Predators revert back to their lack of offense today. |
02-17-23 | Rangers v. Oilers UNDER 7 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -125 | 11 h 46 m | Show |
The Rangers are one of the NHL's least-penalized teams, which could help neutralize the Oilers' deadly power play. But New York might be one of the few teams that could rival Edmonton in a scoring duel, given how well Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad are performing. Both players are on five-game points streaks, with Zibanejad collecting nine points (seven goals, two assists) and Panarin 12 points (six goals, six assists). All of Panarin's goals in the stretch have come in New York's last two games, making him the fifth player in Rangers history to tally six goals in a two-game span. New York forward Jimmy Vesey described Panarin and Zibanejad as "world-class players, and they can be game-breakers every night. So if one's not going, the other one might be going that night, but (if they're both scoring), we're tough to beat." Of course, the Oilers have their own powerhouse duo in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. McDavid leads the NHL in goals (42) and points (99) and is on the verge of the sixth 100-point season of his eight-year career. With 31 goals and 49 assists over 53 games, Draisaitl is also on pace for his fourth 100-point season. The Oilers have a seven-game points streak (4-0-3) on home ice, while the Rangers are 5-0-3 in their last eight road contests. |
02-17-23 | Stars v. Wild OVER 5.5 | 1-2 | Loss | -106 | 10 h 6 m | Show
Even though the Dallas Stars sit atop the Western Conference, wins have been hard to come by of late. It's a similar grind for victories with the Minnesota Wild, who are trying to move into playoff position in the West. Each team looks to avoid a third consecutive defeat when they meet Friday night in Saint Paul, Minn. With 71 points, Dallas is first in a Western Conference race that features nine teams with at least 61. The Wild currently round out that group, entering play Thursday 10 points behind the Stars, in ninth place and just outside of playoff position. Dallas has earned at least one point in eight of the last nine games. However, the Stars went just 3-1-4 on a lengthy homestand, capped by a 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday and Tuesday's 3-2 overtime setback to Boston. |
02-16-23 | Canadiens v. Hurricanes UNDER 6 | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 58 m | Show
If special teams are going to make a difference, the Carolina Hurricanes are aiming to get better in those areas. They're bound to come up again when the Montreal Canadiens visit for Thursday night's game in Raleigh, N.C. The Canadiens have won three games in a row since returning from the All-Star break, outscoring their opponents 14-5 during that stretch. Carolina is 1-1-0 since its layoff. Montreal is coming off Tuesday night's 4-0 victory against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. "Just trying to stay sharp here as we're moving forward," said Canadiens goalie Jake Allen, who stopped 22 shots in the shutout. "Keep this ball rolling. Three wins in a row, it has been a while since that has happened here." The Hurricanes edged the host Washington Capitals 3-2 on Tuesday night, scoring the tiebreaking goal on their only power-play chance of the game. |
02-11-23 | Capitals v. Bruins OVER 6 | 2-1 | Loss | -106 | 4 h 4 m | Show
With the NHL All-Star break and their bye week behind them, the Boston Bruins return to the ice for a Saturday contest against the Washington Capitals. Boston is a league-best 39-7-5 (83 points) this season despite going just 1-2-1 in its final four games before the break, concluding a five-game road trip with a 5-2 win in Toronto on Feb. 1. The team's win total is the highest in NHL history through the first 51 games of the season. "You can tell the energy here (Thursday). The break was good for everybody," Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said following the team's first practice of the unofficial second half of the season. "Looking at what's ahead, we know it's going to get harder here in the regular season and then, obviously, in the playoffs it gets even harder and we're getting ready for that." The Bruins will play just three of their remaining nine February games on home ice, hitting the road for Dallas and Nashville following Saturday's game. |
02-08-23 | Wild v. Stars UNDER 6 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 51 m | Show
With their hold on a playoff spot rather tenuous, the Minnesota Wild know they wasted an opportunity in their first game back from the All-Star break. The Wild will try to produce a bounce-back performance when they hit the ice Thursday night against the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars to finish a quick road trip. Minnesota held a 2-1 lead in the middle of the third period but lost 3-2 in regulation to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. "I don't think we should look for excuses," Wild forward Mats Zuccarello said. "We should go player by player and say what can we do better. We need to win. We're in the race here and can't take games off. "We have a huge game in Dallas against a really good team. We've got to step it up." The loss snapped a two-game winning streak, but the Wild have lost four of their last six games, all in regulation time. The Wild sit third in the division but could have fallen to the second wild-card spot in the conference if the hard-charging Colorado Avalanche were able to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday night. |
01-30-23 | Blues v. Jets UNDER 6 | 2-4 | Push | 0 | 10 h 24 m | Show
The Winnipeg Jets will try to snap out of their midseason funk Monday when they host the slumping St. Louis Blues in their final game before the All-Star break. "We haven't loved our last few games and we've got one left going into the break," Jets forward Adam Lowry said after his team's 4-0 loss at home to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. "It feels like the sky is falling a bit, but we're still in a good spot. "Obviously we're disappointed with the effort, disappointed with the outcome, three games in a row that we've kind of let slip away. You're going to want to stop this slide as soon as we can." The Jets have lost three straight games and five of their last seven heading into Monday's contest. |
01-25-23 | Canucks v. Seattle Kraken OVER 6.5 | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 25 m | Show
Barely a season and a half into their existence, the Seattle Kraken are about to face their third different Vancouver Canucks head coach. They're still looking for the first win against any of them. The Kraken will look to snap that streak Wednesday night when they play host to the Canucks and new coach Rick Tocchet. Tocchet, hired Sunday to replace Bruce Boudreau after the Canucks struggled to an 18-25-3 start, made his debut behind the Vancouver bench Tuesday night in a 5-2 home victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. Andrei Kuzmenko scored twice in the second period, the Canucks broke away from a 2-2 tie with goals 34 seconds apart midway through the third, and Bo Horvat added a short-handed empty-netter to equal his career high with his 31st goal of the season. The Canucks, who outshot Chicago 48-14, snapped a three-game skid and won for just the third time in the past 13 games. |
01-25-23 | Blue Jackets v. Oilers OVER 6.5 | 3-2 | Loss | -125 | 8 h 5 m | Show
It's been more than 20 years since the Edmonton Oilers last won seven straight games in a season. Considering how well the Oilers have fared against the Columbus Blue Jackets at home all-time, they appear in good position to accomplish that feat again when the teams meet Wednesday night. Following a 1-3-1 stretch from Dec. 31-Jan. 9, Edmonton has won a season-high six in a row and has outscored opponents 31-13 in the process. The Oilers most recently won seven consecutive games during their club-record, nine-game winning streak in the 2000-01 season. "We're getting contributions from everybody, whether it's on the score sheet or playing physical, blocking a shot, or being solid defensively," said Edmonton superstar Connor McDavid, who has recorded 16 of his NHL-leading 88 points during his current 10-game point streak. "I think we're getting contributions up and down the lineup -- and then a little maturity." |
01-25-23 | Hurricanes v. Stars UNDER 6 | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 11 m | Show
The Carolina Hurricanes will try to extend their latest points streak when they visit the Dallas Stars on Wednesday. The Hurricanes are 4-0-1 over their last five games, continuing the team's knack for just about always leaving the rink with at least one point. Only the NHL-leading Boston Bruins have fewer regulation losses than Carolina's nine, and the Hurricanes' season included a 15-0-2 stretch that set new club records for consecutive games with a point (17) and consecutive wins (11). In Saturday's 5-2 road win over the New York Islanders, the Hurricanes faced some extra adversity. Max Pacioretty suffered a potentially season-ending Achilles tear in Carolina's previous game, and defenseman Jaccob Slavin was a late lineup scratch due to a lower-body injury. The lineup absences weren't enough to slow down the Hurricanes. Carolina scored twice in the first four minutes against New York, and Sebastian Aho scored the game's final three goals for his sixth career hat trick. |
01-25-23 | Rangers v. Maple Leafs OVER 6 | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 0 m | Show
Reuniting William Nylander and John Tavares worked well on Monday and the Toronto Maple Leafs hope the success continues Wednesday night against the visiting New York Rangers. Nylander had two goals and two assists -- all in the second period -- and the Maple Leafs opened a five-game homestand with a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders. Tavares had a goal and an assist while Calle Jarnkrok, the other player on the line, also scored a goal. The Rangers also won Monday night, 6-2 over the visiting Florida Panthers. After losing 3-2 in overtime to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, the Maple Leafs overcame a 1-0 first-period deficit with a four-goal outburst in the second period Monday. |
01-25-23 | Islanders v. Senators OVER 6 | 1-2 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 53 m | Show
Ottawa coach D.J. Smith promised changes were coming after watching his Senators continue a month-long slump Saturday night. For New York Islanders coach Lane Lambert, the search for answers to what is ailing his team is already underway but doesn't appear to be anywhere close to complete. A pair of skidding teams will meet Wednesday night when the Senators host the Islanders. The Senators have been off since Saturday, when they lost to the visiting Winnipeg Jets 5-1. The Islanders are concluding a two-game Canadian road trip after squandering another early lead Monday and falling to the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2. Some struggles are to be expected for the rebuilding Senators, who have missed the playoffs in each of the last five seasons and entered Tuesday tied with the Montreal Canadiens for the second-fewest points in the Eastern Conference. But their latest skid has increasingly frustrated Smith. The Senators have lost 10 of 16 (6-9-1) since a 14-14-2 start and are 2-6-0 since Jan. 9, a span in which they've been outscored 36-17. Five of the losses in the latter stretch have been by at least three goals. |
01-23-23 | Sabres v. Stars UNDER 6.5 | 3-2 | Win | 101 | 12 h 53 m | Show
The Dallas Stars and their stingy defensive ways will be put to the test when they host the high-octane offense of the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. The Stars have allowed only 122 goals against through 48 games thus far, the fourth-fewest in the NHL prior to Sunday's action. Their 2.54 goals-against average ranks second only to the Boston Bruins. Dallas enters Monday's tilt with shutouts in three of its past four games, all ending in 4-0 scores. It's a credit to both the team's defensive play and their goaltenders. |
01-23-23 | Islanders v. Maple Leafs UNDER 6 | 2-5 | Loss | -108 | 10 h 26 m | Show
After losing to the archrival Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Maple Leafs will open a five-game homestand Monday night against the struggling New York Islanders. The Maple Leafs lost 3-2 in overtime at Montreal on Saturday. The Islanders also lost Saturday, 5-2 to the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. Toronto wasted a 2-0 first-period lead against the Canadiens, a team that has been hit by injuries and is struggling in the standings. |
01-22-23 | Golden Knights v. Coyotes OVER 6 | 1-4 | Loss | -114 | 7 h 22 m | Show
The Golden Knights, called out by coach Bruce Cassidy for their lack of effort and intensity during the losing streak, finished their season-long seven-game homestand with a 3-4-0 record and a one-point lead over the Seattle Kraken in the Pacific Division. "It's definitely a momentum-changer," Martinez said of the win. "Obviously this homestand isn't what we want it to be, but we finished it off. ... We've just got to keep it rolling on the road now." Because of the All-Star break and bye week, Vegas won't play another home game until Feb. 12 against Anaheim. Considering the fact the Golden Knights are just 14-13-0 at T-Mobile Arena and 15-3-2 on the road, that might not be a bad thing. Arizona, seventh in the Central Division, also will play the second game of a back-to-back. The Coyotes, who are 1-11-0 over their past 12 games but 8-7-2 at Mullett Arena, lost 4-0 at Central-leading Dallas on Saturday night. |
01-22-23 | Sharks v. Bruins OVER 6 | 0-4 | Loss | -115 | 7 h 33 m | Show
As a 15-1-3 run and a 12-point lead in the Atlantic Division standings suggest, the Boston Bruins have needed little help racking up wins this season. Following a two-game sweep of the Islanders and Rangers in New York, the Bruins will return home to face the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night. Boston has won 10 consecutive games against San Jose dating to 2016. Their home-and-home season series began Jan. 7 as part of Boston's three-game California road trip. Brad Marchand had three points (one goal, two assists) and David Pastrnak scored twice in a 4-2 Boston win. |
01-22-23 | Kings v. Blackhawks OVER 6 | 2-1 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 27 m | Show
The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks still hope to see consistent play from their goalies this season. Petr Mrazek is coming off his best performance of the season for the Blackhawks, and Jonathan Quick has been mostly solid in relief in his past two appearances for the Kings. The veteran goalies will try to build on those results and bring some stability back to the crease when Chicago hosts Los Angeles on Sunday evening. Mrazek stopped 37 of 38 shots in a 4-1 win at the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday for his second straight win. Those performances helped erase a dismal effort against the visiting Seattle Kraken on Jan. 14, when Mrazek stopped just one of five shots before getting replaced in an 8-5 loss. |
01-22-23 | Penguins v. Devils UNDER 6.5 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 2 h 42 m | Show
The Devils, who raced out to a 21-4-1 start that included a 13-game winning streak from Oct. 25- Nov. 21, lost 10 of 14 games (4-8-2) before embarking upon the season-long road trip on Jan. 10. New Jersey began the trek four points behind the Hurricanes in the Metropolitan and seven points ahead of the Penguins and New York Islanders in the race for the final wild-card spot. Entering Saturday, the Devils were two points behind Carolina and 11 clear of the Islanders, who fell into ninth place in the East by virtue of Pittsburgh's win on Friday. Head coach Lindy Ruff was content with the ground gained by the Devils, though he felt Thursday's loss might have been overdue. New Jersey overcame deficits in three of their first four wins and fell behind 2-0 against the Kraken. |
01-21-23 | Jets v. Senators OVER 6 | 5-1 | Push | 0 | 9 h 59 m | Show
The Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators will try to bounce back from recent losses when they meet on Saturday night in the Canadian capital city. The Senators are coming off a 4-1 road loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night, giving the teams a split of a head-and-head set over a three-day span. The Jets have dropped consecutive 4-1 decisions on the road, on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs and on Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens. Ottawa got its lone goal on Friday from Brady Tkachuk, while Cam Talbot stopped 40 of 44 shots in the loss. The Senators' offense had quantity but couldn't find enough quality. Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry made 44 saves on 45 shots in his first game since getting injured on Jan. 2 in the NHL Winter Classic at Boston. |
01-20-23 | Senators v. Penguins OVER 6.5 | Top | 1-4 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 20 m | Show |
The Pittsburgh Penguins will enter the second half of their home-and-home set against the visiting Ottawa Senators on Friday piping hot under the collar. The Penguins aren't so much angry at the Senators, who won Wednesday at home 5-4 in overtime. Instead, they were left seething at themselves and over the officiating after they were assessed eight penalties in the first meeting and gave up four goals to Ottawa's power play. Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan seemed to have a difficult time containing his anger over the circumstances in the game. |
01-17-23 | Jets v. Canadiens OVER 6 | 1-4 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 4 m | Show
The Winnipeg Jets will try to extend a three-game win streak when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. The Jets have been rolling lately, having won eight of their past nine games, and currently sit on top of the Central Division with 59 points and have the Western Conference's best points percentage at .670. Winnipeg extended its current winning streak with a 2-1 victory against the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday at home. Pierre-Luc Dubois and Blake Wheeler scored, while goalie Connor Hellebuyck was nearly perfect with 20 saves on 21 shots for his 22nd win of the season. |
01-16-23 | Capitals v. Islanders OVER 5.5 | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 0 m | Show
Scoring two goals in a span of fewer than four minutes Saturday night vaulted the New York Islanders into a wild-card spot -- and inched them closer to the Washington Capitals, whose inability to stop two-goal flurries has tightened the Eastern Conference playoff race. Postseason implications will already be looming Monday night when the Islanders host the Capitals in Elmont, N.Y. in the first game this season between the longtime divisional rivals. Both teams were off Sunday after playing at home Saturday night when the Islanders edged the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 and the Capitals fell to the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1. It was the second straight game in which a two-goal sequence decided outcomes for both the Islanders and Capitals. The Islanders suffered their season-high fourth straight loss Thursday night when the Minnesota Wild scored the tying and go-ahead goals during a 93-second span in the third period of a 3-1 win. New York wasted little time establishing some momentum Saturday night when Casey Cizikas scored off a Canadiens' turnover 2:25 after the opening faceoff before Anthony Beauvillier doubled the lead at the 6:03 mark. The two-goal first period was the first for the Islanders since they scored twice in the first 20 minutes of a 5-4 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 16. |
01-16-23 | Devils v. Sharks UNDER 6.5 | 4-3 | Loss | -101 | 5 h 42 m | Show
The New Jersey Devils will look to continue their record success in road games when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Monday. The Devils became the first team in NHL history to win 17 of their first 20 road games with a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. The Sharks dropped to 1-3-1 in their past five games with a 7-1 loss against visiting Edmonton on Friday. New Jersey, which has won four straight, will face a San Jose squad that's won a league-worst four home games, with a 4-12-6 record at SAP Center this season. Trailing 1-0, the Devils tied the game on Tomas Tatar's power-play goal at the 12:51 mark of the first period before Erik Haula gave New Jersey a 2-1 lead early in the second period. After the Kings tied the game midway through the period, Nikita Okhotiuk and Ryan Graves scored to give the Devils a two-goal cushion entering the third period. Jesper Bratt's empty-net goal with 1:04 left capped the Devils' sixth straight win on the road. |
01-15-23 | Coyotes v. Jets OVER 6 | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -120 | 8 h 28 m | Show |
The Arizona Coyotes have lost eight straight games and have the unenviable task Sunday night of facing the Winnipeg Jets, the co-leaders of the Central Division, on the road. The Coyotes come into the game off a 2-1 road loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night, one in which a short span in the second period put the Coyotes in a hole they couldn't escape. Mats Zuccarello and Frederick Gaudreau scored 51 seconds apart to give the Wild a 2-0 lead. Lawson Crouse scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season in the third period for the Coyotes, but Wild goaltender Marc Andre-Fleury allowed nothing else as he made 27 saves. |
01-14-23 | Devils v. Kings UNDER 6.5 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -104 | 11 h 12 m | Show |
The Los Angeles Kings haven't been at full strength up front since before Christmas, but they keep finding ways to make up ground in the standings. The Kings will try to match their season high with a fourth consecutive win when they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. Los Angeles has been without center Trevor Moore (upper body) the past eight games and right winger Arthur Kaliyev (lower body) the past 10, but they still posted two wins against the Pacific Division-leading Vegas Golden Knights in that span. The Kings have also knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche, the surging Boston Bruins and such Western Conference powers as the Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames in the past month. In their most recent game, a 4-3 win against the visiting San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, the Kings also were without left winger Viktor Arvidsson, who was ill. |
01-14-23 | Flames v. Stars OVER 5.5 | Top | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 3 h 47 m | Show |
Less than one second separated the Dallas Stars from a shutout victory over the New York Rangers on Thursday. Instead of returning home for Saturday's matinee matchup with the Calgary Flames riding high, the Stars must recover from a shocking loss in which the Rangers scored in the final tick of the clock during regulation and escaped with a 2-1 overtime victory. "Everyone obviously wanted to win that one as bad as I did," said Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger. "It just sucks when guys play that great in front of you. "We'll probably be thinking about that for a while." The Stars, who remain atop the Central Division -- one point behind the Vegas Golden Knights for first place in the Western Conference -- and are on a 6-2-1 run, must turn the page quickly. After all, every team will earn wins snatched from the jaws of defeat and vice versa. |
01-13-23 | Devils v. Ducks UNDER 6.5 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 21 m | Show |
Feeling at least somewhat encouraged after earning consecutive victories for the first time in more than a month, the New Jersey Devils will begin their road trip to the West Coast in a meeting with the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. The Devils earned a 5-3 road victory over the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday thanks to a four-goal onslaught that began with less than a minute remaining in the second period. Dawson Mercer delivered his first two-goal game midway through his second season. With the Devils trailing 3-1, Mercer scored with 52 seconds remaining in the second period before Jesper Boqvist tied the game 18 seconds later. Mercer scored the go-ahead goal near the midway point of the third period. |
01-12-23 | Hurricanes v. Blue Jackets UNDER 6.5 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -115 | 5 h 30 m | Show |
Two teams mired in slumps look to get back on the winning track when the Columbus Blue Jackets host the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night. The Blue Jackets have lost four of five and are coming off their 10th straight road loss, a 6-3 defeat at Tampa Bay on Tuesday night. Tim Berni scored his first NHL goal, Patrik Laine had two assists and Elvis Merzlikins made 40 saves for the Blue Jackets. |
01-11-23 | Capitals v. Flyers OVER 6 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 45 m | Show
The surging Philadelphia Flyers will look for their sixth victory in seven games when they host the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. Following a season-best four-game winning streak, the Flyers fell 6-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. But they responded one night later with a stellar 4-0 win on the road against the Buffalo Sabres. Backup goaltender Sam Ersson stopped all 28 shots for his first career shutout in his fifth-ever start. It came after he nearly earned a shutout in his previous start, giving up his only goal in the final minute of a Jan. 2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. |
01-10-23 | Devils v. Hurricanes UNDER 6 | Top | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 51 m | Show |
Now it's the Carolina Hurricanes who are trying to get back on track. It's not as if they have deviated that far, but more than a week has passed since they've won a game; they've lost three in a row overall. The New Jersey Devils, who seem to be snapping out of a funk, will be the opposition for the Hurricanes on Tuesday night at Raleigh, N.C. "We've got to get it all together and play a full 60," Hurricanes forward Martin Necas said. "Try to reset and go back and try to play our game. There are no secrets, really." Carolina and New Jersey are the top two teams in the Metropolitan Division. This meeting will mark the midway mark in the regular season for both teams. This also will be the third Devils-Hurricanes meeting in about a three-week period. The Hurricanes won 4-1 at home on Dec. 20 and prevailed 5-4 in a shootout at New Jersey on Jan. 1. The Devils have won three of their past five games, with one of the setbacks to Carolina. |
01-09-23 | Flyers v. Sabres UNDER 6.5 | 4-0 | Win | 105 | 9 h 25 m | Show
The rebuilding Philadelphia Flyers are far from a finished product. Following a promising four-game winning streak, their best since a 3-0-0 start, the Flyers were thumped 6-2 by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. There won't be much time to dwell on the loss as Philadelphia will travel to Western New York to face the host Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Travis Konecny scored his team-leading 21st goal and Nicolas Deslauriers also scored against Toronto. Konecny has registered points in eight consecutive games and has scored at least one goal in a career-high six straight games. But there wasn't much positive news otherwise. Too many costly turnovers proved to be the difference in the frustrating loss. "We self-destructed the (expletive) out of ourselves," Flyers head coach John Tortorella said. "Just can't overcome all the things we gave them for free." After four giveaways early in the game, defenseman Tony DeAngelo didn't return to the ice after one shift in the second period. Earlier this season, Tortorella benched Konecny and center Kevin Hayes, the Flyers' lone All-Star. |
01-08-23 | Flames v. Blackhawks OVER 6 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 29 m | Show
Four of the victories in the Calgary Flames' surge of six wins in nine games have come away from home. The Flames look to keep that success stirring on Sunday as they visit the Chicago Blackhawks in the opener of a five-game road trip. "We're climbing up in the standings," the Flames' Blake Coleman said. "We're scratching and clawing to keep moving up here." Being efficient proved enough in Calgary's latest victory Friday, a 4-1 home victory against the New York Islanders that saw the club score three goals on just six first-period shots. Milan Lucic, Coleman and Nikita Zadorov fueled the run. That game should have gone over the total after four 1st period goals, this one will get there for bettors. |
01-07-23 | Bruins v. Sharks UNDER 6.5 | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 35 m | Show |
The Boston Bruins are off to one of the best starts in NHL history, and they hope to continue those winning ways when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. With Thursday's 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings to kick off a three-game California trip, the Bruins tied the 1944-45 Montreal Canadiens for the second spot on the league's all-time list for fewest games to reach 30 wins. Needing 38 games to hit the mark, the Bruins (30-4-4) are second only to the 1929-30 Bruins, who needed only 35 games. "We just want to keep things rolling," Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman said after beating the Kings. "We know how good we are, and games like this, where you have a little adversity with travel or whatever, you want to get on top and get those two points." The Bruins are unbeaten in regulation in the past 12 games (9-0-3), and it's not just their stars producing. Against the Kings, Trent Frederic scored a pair of goals 34 second apart midway through the third period to break open a 2-2 game. Frederic has nine goals in 35 games this season. He netted eight in 60 outings in 2021-22. |
01-06-23 | Islanders v. Flames OVER 5.5 | 1-4 | Loss | -113 | 11 h 12 m | Show
Calgary Flames coach Darryl Sutter has often called the NHL a 3-2 league. His team has been in three consecutive games that finished with that score heading into a Friday home clash with the New York Islanders. The bad news for Sutter's troops is his team is not having as much success as they need in those tight affairs, including a Tuesday road loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The Flames have been part of a league-high 24 one-goal games, in which they have posted a disappointing 10-7-7 record. Hurting Calgary's cause is a team-wide 8.7 percent shooting rate, ahead of only the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks, who are 30th and 32nd in the overall league standings. As tough as it has been for the Flames to score goals, they believe better days are ahead. |
01-06-23 | Predators v. Capitals UNDER 6.5 | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 19 m | Show
The Washington Capitals will try to extend a nine-game point streak when they host the Nashville Predators on Friday. Both teams are coming off victories and traveling for the second game of a back-to-back set. Washington defeated the host Columbus Blue Jackets 6-2 on Thursday, while Nashville rallied past the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 in Raleigh, N.C. T.J. Oshie scored twice at Columbus for the Capitals. Dylan Strome had a trio of assists, and Evgeny Kuznetsov had two helpers. Washington killed off Columbus' only power play of the night in the second period, and the Capitals later scored the game's final four goals, the last two on power plays. |
01-05-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Maple Leafs UNDER 6.5 | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 43 m | Show
After opening their seven-game road trip with a victory over the Edmonton Oilers, the Seattle Kraken will try to maintain momentum against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. The Kraken overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Oilers 5-2 on Tuesday night, while the Maple Leafs took a 6-5 shootout loss on Tuesday at home against the St. Louis Blues. "The best part of our game and the most important part: we checked throughout our lineup (Tuesday)," Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. The Kraken ended a three-game losing streak by defeating the New York Islanders 4-1 at home on Sunday before embarking on their trip. |
01-03-23 | Flames v. Jets OVER 6 | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 4 m | Show |
Connor Hellebuyck's value to the Winnipeg Jets has been obvious for years, but they received a huge reminder the past few weeks as they head into Tuesday's home game with the Calgary Flames on a bit of a roll. Amidst a difficult wave of injuries, the Jets struggled through half of December but finished the month with a pair of victories, the latest a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on New Year's Eve. In that outing, Hellebuyck -- who won the Vezina Trophy for the league's top goalie in the 2019-20 season -- sparkled while making 31 saves. The Jets were outshot 32-17, killed all five penalties and snapped the point-scoring streak of the league's leading scorer, Connor McDavid, at 17 games. "I don't think we want to make it that hard for him, but it seems like when we need him the most it seems like he's there," Winnipeg forward Kyle Connor said. "Clutch times, he's a clutch player." Connor has been clutch, too. After struggling to start the season with only two goals in 14 games, the 47-goal scorer from last season has netted 14 goals and 31 points in his last 23 games, including the game-winner in Edmonton. |
01-02-23 | Golden Knights v. Avalanche UNDER 6 | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 12 m | Show
The reigning Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche are looking to snap a three-game skid Monday in Denver when they face the visiting Vegas Golden Knights in a clash of teams short-handed on defense. The Avalanche welcomed star Nathan MacKinnon back into the lineup on Saturday, but they still dropped a 6-2 decision to the Toronto Maple Leafs at home. Colorado, which is battling for the fourth spot in the Central Division, was coming off a 5-4 defeat to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday and 6-3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes two nights earlier. A win over the Golden Knights at Ball Arena would give them their first victory since beating Nashville 3-2 in overtime on Dec. 23. |
12-31-22 | Senators v. Red Wings UNDER 6.5 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 103 | 7 h 26 m | Show |
Drake Batherson and Alex DeBrincat haven't cooled off since the Ottawa Senators' last visit to Detroit. The Senators will visit the Red Wings once again on New Year's Eve. Batherson scored twice and DeBrincat collected three assists in a 6-3 Ottawa victory over Detroit on Dec. 17. Batherson will carry a 12-game point streak (seven goals, 10 assists) into the rematch. DeBrincat has scored four goals in the last three games, including the tying and winning goals in a 4-3 road victory over Washington on Thursday. DeBrincat, acquired from Chicago during the offseason, had six goals and 11 assists entering the month. He's notched seven goals and 11 assists in December. He has at least one point in 12 of the last 13 games. "In any new system, it takes some time," center Shane Pinto said. "He's in a new spot and you knew he was going to start scoring. It was just a matter of time. He's such an elite player and he's just getting more and more comfortable and he's just showing everyone what he can do. I'm not surprised at all." The Senators, who have won two straight, erased 2-0 and 3-1 deficits. They are 8-3-2 this month. |
12-31-22 | Flyers v. Kings UNDER 6 | Top | 4-2 | Push | 0 | 5 h 37 m | Show |
The Los Angeles Kings used their lowest point of the season as a springboard to launch their most successful stretch, and they'll try to maintain their momentum when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. Los Angeles is 6-0-1 since a 6-0 road loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Dec. 13. The latest triumph for the Kings came on Thursday night against the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche when Los Angeles rallied from a two-goal third-period deficit on the road to win 5-4 in a shootout. "I think we learned from the Buffalo game," Kings forward Phillip Danault said. "(Thursday) was a big, big character win." The Flyers started their three-game West Coast trip in a similar fashion on Thursday night. |
12-30-22 | Predators v. Ducks OVER 6 | Top | 6-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 9 m | Show |
It hasn't been an easy season for the Anaheim Ducks, languishing among the bottom three teams in the NHL. But there have been some positives of late, which the team will look to build on when they host the Nashville Predators on Friday. The Ducks enter the contest with a 3-2-1 record in their past six games and are coming off a 3-2 shootout victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday. "Our chemistry has been building all year," Ducks forward Adam Henrique said. Anaheim is near or at the bottom of the NHL in most statistical categories, including goals scored. They've managed just 83 for an average of 2.31 per game. At the other end, they've allowed a league-high 146 goals, an average of 4.06 per game. |
12-29-22 | Flyers v. Sharks UNDER 6.5 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -120 | 12 h 18 m | Show |
Among the biggest problems, this season for the struggling Philadelphia Flyers has been the offense, namely a lack of it. The Flyers continue a five-game road trip, interrupted by the holiday break, with three games in California -- beginning with a Thursday night game against the San Jose Sharks. Offensively challenged Philadelphia is seeing improvement in that area. It's a small sample size, but the Flyers have scored 13 goals in their past three games and three or more in each of their past four. "The results haven't been there ... but I think our game is coming along," center Scott Laughton said. "Defensively, we're way better. Obviously, we're having a tough time scoring, but I think the belief in the room is a lot different than it's been the last couple of years. And that goes a long way." The Flyers return to action for the first time since taking a 6-5 road loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday. They have lost two straight games and on a 2-5-2 skid. |
12-29-22 | Senators v. Capitals OVER 6 | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 4 m | Show |
The Washington Capitals will try to extend a five-game win streak when they host the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. The Capitals haven't lost since Dec. 15, ripping off wins against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Senators, Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers. Washington has outscored opponents 20-8 during that stretch. Washington has also won 10 of its last 11 dating back to Dec. 5, winning as many games in December as it had won in October and November combined. The Capitals are 13-3-1 since Nov. 23. In their last outing, the Capitals blanked the Rangers 4-0 on the strength of 32 saves from Darcy Kuemper. It was Kuemper's third shutout of the season. |
12-28-22 | Golden Knights v. Ducks OVER 6 | 2-3 | Loss | -111 | 12 h 34 m | Show
After posting a rare road blemish with a 4-2 loss at Los Angeles, the Vegas Golden Knights will make the short drive down Interstate 5 to Anaheim, Calif., to play the Ducks on Wednesday night in the second game of a back-to-back. Vegas had a four-game road winning streak snapped with the loss to the Kings, just the third regulation road loss in 18 games (14-3-1) for the Golden Knights this season. Los Angeles closed to within three points of Vegas, the Western Conference leader with 49 points. Against the Kings, the Golden Knights took a 2-1 lead midway through the second period on defenseman Brayden McNabb's first goal of the season off a nifty between-the-legs setup by Reilly Smith. But Los Angeles tied it a little over three minutes later on a Phillip Danault goal. Alex Iafallo scored what proved to be the game-winner midway through the third period on an odd-man rush after Mark Stone lost an edge in the neutral zone. |
12-27-22 | Avalanche v. Coyotes OVER 5.5 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 11 h 44 m | Show |
A narrow victory is still a victory. As long as the result is two points, the Colorado Avalanche would happily accept another tight contest when they visit the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday in Tempe, Arizona. Colorado is on a four-game winning streak, with its last three wins coming in either overtime or a shootout. The Avalanche are 6-1-0 in their last seven games, collecting five one-goal wins and outscoring opponents by a modest 17-12 margin. "We've been fighting, grinding out wins, low-scoring games," forward Evan Rodrigues said. "Even when we're down, guys believe we can come back. We've just got to stick with it." Rodrigues recorded the assist on Samuel Girard's game-winning goal in the Avalanche's last game, a 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators on Friday. The dynamic offense was a cornerstone of Colorado's run to the Stanley Cup last summer. This season, however, long-term injuries to Nathan McKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog have sapped the Avalanche of some of their scoring punch. |
12-23-22 | Blues v. Golden Knights UNDER 6 | 4-5 | Loss | -114 | 8 h 16 m | Show
After earning their first regulation home win in almost a month Wednesday, the Vegas Golden Knights will try to make it two in a row on Friday night against the St. Louis Blues in Las Vegas. The 5-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes was only the second in eight home games for the Western Conference-leading Golden Knights, who improved to just 9-9-0 at T-Mobile Arena this season. Mark Stone led the way with both a power-play goal and a short-handed goal during a four-goal third period. It marked the first time in Vegas history that a player scored both a power-play and a short-handed goal in the same game. It also marked the first time since their last regulation home victory, 4-1 over Ottawa on Nov. 23, that the Golden Knights scored more than two goals in a home game. |
12-22-22 | Wild v. Sharks UNDER 6.5 | 2-5 | Loss | -125 | 9 h 10 m | Show
The Minnesota Wild will take the Western Conference's longest winning streak into their Thursday night road game against the San Jose Sharks. Minnesota, behind a goal and two assists by Matt Boldy and 21 saves by Marc-Andre Fleury, won its season-best sixth game in a row on Wednesday, beating the host Anaheim Ducks 4-1. The Wild now hope to improve to 5-0-0 in the second game of back-to-back sets this season. The Wild have won 11 of their past 13 games to close within four points of the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars. A big reason for that has been an improved defense that has allowed just six goals over the six-game winning streak. |

12-22-22 | Capitals v. Senators UNDER 6.5 | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show
Washington forward Alex Ovechkin continues his pursuit of history when the Capitals visit the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. Ovechkin, who has not scored a goal in his past three games, remains one behind Gordie Howe (801 goals) on the NHL's all-time list. Wayne Gretzky (894) remains in first. Despite Ovechkin's brief dry spell, the Capitals are rolling, having won seven of their past eight games after a 4-3 overtime victory against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. Playing without a group of injured forwards that includes Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Wilson and T.J. Oshie among others, Washington continues to get secondary scoring. Fourth-line center Nic Dowd had two goals and an assist Monday after missing the previous game with a lower-body injury, defenseman Erik Gustafsson scored his fourth goal in two games and defenseman Dmitry Orlov netted the overtime winner. |

12-16-22 | Islanders v. Coyotes OVER 5.5 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 6 m | Show
The Arizona Coyotes are playing in a home arena that would normally be considered unfit for an NHL team. Most of the New York Islanders have an idea of what that's like. Unfortunately for the Coyotes, that's where the similarities between the teams end. The Islanders are slated to make their first trip to Mullett Arena Friday night, when New York continues a cross-country road trip by visiting the Coyotes in Tempe, Ariz. Both teams have been off since narrow defeats Tuesday night, when the visiting Coyotes lost to the San Jose Sharks 3-2 and the Islanders fell to the Boston Bruins 4-3 via shootout. The loss was the fifth in seven games (2-4-1) for the Islanders, though coming back from a two-goal first-period deficit and eventually earning the loser point allowed them to tie the New York Rangers for fourth place in the competitive Metropolitan Division and remain in a playoff spot as of Thursday morning. |
12-16-22 | Blues v. Flames UNDER 6 | 5-2 | Loss | -115 | 9 h 39 m | Show
Calgary Flames coach Darryl Sutter is known for being a taskmaster -- and often acerbic. As his team prepares to play host to the St. Louis Blues, though, Sutter is preaching from the other side of the pendulum while his team tries to snap a four-game winless slide. The Flames, who are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, have lost their last three games in extra time. However, Sutter is quick to point out his squad is 3-1-3 in its last seven outings and could just as easily be riding a winning spree driving them up the standings. "The difference is the difference maker, right?" Sutter said. "You get to the extra or late opportunities, whether it's a power play or overtime or shootouts. ... That's where your best players have to be difference makers, for sure." Certainly goal scoring has been an issue for the Flames during their recent struggles. Calgary has managed nine goals in its last four games. |

12-11-22 | Capitals v. Jets UNDER 6.5 | 5-2 | Loss | -120 | 7 h 22 m | Show
A pair of winning streaks collide when the Washington Capitals visit the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. Winnipeg will be looking for its fifth straight victory while Washington is riding its first three-game winning streak of the season. The Jets, holding first place in the NHL's Central Division, open a three-game homestand after completing road wins on back-to-back nights with a 3-1 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. Blake Wheeler, Cole Perfetti and Adam Lowry scored for the Jets, who had defeated the St. Louis Blues 5-2 on Thursday. "We're playing smart, playing above them, playing behind their goal line, stuff like that that we did tonight will work to our advantage," Perfetti said. "That's why we're finding success right now." David Rittich stopped 22 shots for the Jets, who have won seven of eight -- scoring five or more goals five times in that span. |
12-11-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Panthers UNDER 6.5 | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 9 m | Show
The Seattle Kraken, who were perhaps the most surprising team in the NHL one week ago, will visit the Florida Panthers on Sunday with a different mindset: ending a three-game losing streak. Seattle was on a 12-1-1 roll until they played host to the Panthers on Dec. 3, losing 5-1. "There weren't just one or two guys who weren't good enough," Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said after the loss to Florida. "We were all below the bar." Seattle followed that dud with two more losses -- 4-2 at home against Montreal on Tuesday and 4-1 at Washington on Friday. "We have to get back to work," Hakstol said after Friday's loss. "You have tough stretches on the schedule. Guys have to step up and play good hockey." The Kraken will have to step up without defenseman Jamie Oleksiak, who was suspended for three games by the NHL on Saturday. The league penalized him for a high hit on Washington's Alexander Alexeyev. |
12-10-22 | Senators v. Predators OVER 6 | 3-2 | Loss | -125 | 2 h 37 m | Show
The Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators both will try to bounce back from recent losses when they meet Saturday afternoon in Music City. Ottawa has lost back-to-back games, including a 4-3 overtime setback to the Dallas Stars on Thursday. In the loss to Dallas, Ottawa had a late lead but allowed a game-tying goal from defenseman Nils Lundkvist with 5:06 remaining. In overtime, a Senators turnover in their own defensive zone led to a game-winning goal for the Stars' Tyler Seguin. "Down 2-0 early, and not a couple of great goals (against), but stayed with it and battled," Senators coach D.J. Smith said. "I thought we played a really good game. To lose that way in overtime, it hurts, but in saying that, that's a really good team and we had all kinds of opportunities to win." Smith's comments about the Senators battling back from an early 2-0 were echoed in the locker room. |
12-08-22 | Senators v. Stars UNDER 6.5 | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 26 m | Show
The Dallas Stars have managed to avoid letting losses build up this season, a trend they will look to maintain when hosting the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Dallas is coming off a 4-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, its second straight defeat after dropping a 6-5 shootout decision to the Minnesota Wild. It's only the fourth time this season the Stars have lost consecutive games, and they have yet to lose three in a row. The club is 1-1-1 to start a five-game homestand and 2-2-2 in the past six games. While the Stars' potent offense -- among the NHL's best with an average of 3.77 goals for per game (third-most entering Wednesday) -- has delivered with at least four goals scored in five of their past seven games, the team has struggled to keep the puck out of its own net, allowing at least four goals in five of their past seven as well. |
12-08-22 | Jets v. Blues UNDER 6.5 | Top | 5-2 | Loss | -120 | 1 h 43 m | Show |
The Blues earned a 7-4 road victory over the New York Islanders Tuesday to snap a four-game losing streak. They broke out to a 5-1 lead and held on for the win. "It's really nice to win," Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly said. "It's something we haven't had in a while. Made it a little too exciting at the end there. But the big thing is we won a game. There's a lot of good things we did tonight. A few bad bounces in just a few minutes that gave them some life and spark. But at the end of the day it's a big win, and there's something to build off." The Blues won despite missing winger Pavel Buchnevich (lower-body injury) and defenseman Torey Krug (upper-body injury). Buchnevich has eight goals and six assists in his last 10 games. After winning seven straight games last month, the Blues lost six of seven games before beating the Islanders. Once again they are searching for a turning point to their season. |
12-07-22 | Canucks v. Sharks UNDER 6.5 | 6-5 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 6 m | Show
The Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks have yet to get on a serious roll this season. Neither team has won more than three games in a row. Vancouver has shown some recent signs of positivity, however, and the Canucks will try to build on that success when they visit the Sharks on Wednesday night. Vancouver is coming off back-to-back overtime home wins against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday and the Montreal Canadiens on Monday. The last three victories for the Canucks have come in the extra five-minute period. The Canucks fell behind 4-0 to Montreal before rallying for the 7-6 win 13 seconds into overtime. "At the end of the day, I don't care how we did it, we got it done," Vancouver forward Bo Horvat said. "Obviously, it was not pretty. We made it pretty hard on ourselves, but we showed a lot of resilience (Monday) night. ... It was a fun one." The Sharks, meanwhile, have lost three in a row and six of seven (1-5-1). San Jose is coming off a 6-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday to complete a 1-3-0 road trip. |
12-07-22 | Wild v. Flames UNDER 6 | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 30 m | Show
With a four-game winning streak and victories in six of seven outings, the Minnesota Wild head to Calgary for Wednesday's road clash with the Flames feeling some confidence in their game. Some confidence, but not brimming with it. The Wild arrive in Canada on the heels of winning their last two games in rather inglorious fashion. After requiring a late goal to force extra time in a 5-4 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, the Wild kicked off a four-game road swing with a crazier 6-5 shootout victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday. Minnesota staked a 5-1 lead in the first minute of the third period before watching it dissipate -- then recovering to win thanks to Frederick Gaudreau's shootout winner. A win is a win, but those two didn't follow the script teams want. |
12-06-22 | Maple Leafs v. Stars OVER 6 | 4-0 | Loss | -120 | 7 h 26 m | Show
Mitchell Marner will try to extend his team-record 19-game point streak and help the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs regain their winning form Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars. Marner set the club record Saturday night with two goals -- the first while Toronto was short-handed -- in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the opener of a two-game road trip. Toronto had won its previous five games. "It's special growing up to watch this team play hockey and now to have my name in something -- pretty amazing, it's hard to describe," Marner said. "Like I've been saying, it's not a one-man effort out there. It's five men. Great effort by Dave (Kampf) on the first one. A lot of love to my guys for helping me achieve this accomplishment." Darryl Sittler (1977-78 season) and Eddie Olczyk (1989-90) each had 18-game point streaks for Toronto. Marner has nine goals and 17 assists during his streak. "To secure the record, it's great to see," Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said. "Very well-deserved. He was excellent again (Saturday)." Keefe wasn't the only one impressed by Marner's feat. |
12-06-22 | Red Wings v. Lightning UNDER 6.5 | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 9 m | Show
Firmly entrenched in a recent run of superb play, the Tampa Bay Lightning are adhering to one of the most common narratives this time of year -- being home for the holidays. After a November in which they went 8-4-1, the Lightning will play the second contest of their season-long six-game homestand Tuesday when they host the Detroit Red Wings in the first of four matchups this season. In all, Tampa Bay will play eight more December matches at its home by the bay, closing out 2022 with three home tilts in four days -- versus the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Arizona Coyotes. Home ice has been good to the third-place Lightning, who are 8-3-1 on it and coming off an impressive meeting with the division-rival Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. The Lightning scored twice on the power play in the third period to take a 3-2 lead, then saw veteran Alex Killorn pot the game-winning goal 33 seconds into overtime for a 4-3 victory over the second-place Leafs. Lightning coach Jon Cooper, whose squad was 2-for-6 on the power play but allowed Mitch Marner's short-handed tally, said special teams created a "weird" flow throughout. |
12-05-22 | Capitals v. Oilers UNDER 6.5 | 3-2 | Win | 105 | 8 h 49 m | Show
The Edmonton Oilers will attempt to secure their fifth win in six games when they host the Washington Capitals on Monday night. The Oilers come in off a 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night that saw Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl produce four points apiece. McDavid provided two goals and two assists and Draisaitl scored a goal while adding three assists. It was the ninth time the duo has scored four points each in the same game. The Oilers led 4-3 after two periods and shut the Canadiens down for the final 20 minutes. "We were not very good for 40 minutes, and we were lucky to find ourselves up by one after two periods," McDavid said. "But I thought it was really a good job of playing a solid, mature third period and not giving them anything." Tyson Barrie and Zach Hyman each had two assists for Edmonton, which scored three straight power-play goals in an 8:11 span of the second period. Stuart Skinner made 30 saves. The Oilers were without forwards Evander Kane (wrist surgery), Warren Foegele (undisclosed injuries) and Ryan McLeod (undisclosed). |
12-05-22 | Blues v. Rangers OVER 5.5 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 25 m | Show
With just under three minutes left in the second period Saturday, New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba was given a misconduct for his second fighting major and before heading to the locker room, the team captain flung his helmet at the boards and yelled at his teammates on the bench. Roughly 400 miles away, the St. Louis Blues experienced similar frustration in a game at Pittsburgh. Two teams agitated by recent performances get together Monday when the Rangers host the Blues. After a spirited run to the Eastern Conference finals last season, the Rangers are struggling to match the high expectations and their dissatisfaction seemed to reach its boiling point with a 5-2 home loss Saturday to the Chicago Blackhawks. Trouba took two fighting majors, in addition to a hooking penalty that led to Chicago's third power-play goal, and his emotional display occurred after the Rangers allowed two power-play goals in 60 seconds to fall behind by three goals. The loss to Chicago gave New York a four-game home losing streak (0-3-1) and a middling 4-6-4 home record after going 27-10-4 on home ice last year. It also sent the Rangers to their 10th loss in 15 games (5-7-3) since Nov. 3 and pushed them 14 points behind the first-place New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan Division. |
12-04-22 | Blackhawks v. Islanders UNDER 6 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 33 m | Show
The Chicago Blackhawks waited almost three weeks to end a losing streak. They won't even have to wait 24 hours to try to build a winning streak. The Blackhawks are looking to conclude their weekend in the New York City area in successful fashion Sunday night, when they are slated to visit the New York Islanders in Elmont, N.Y. The Blackhawks snapped their eight-game losing streak Saturday night, when they never trailed in a 5-2 win over the host New York Rangers. The Islanders were off Saturday after suffering their second straight defeat Friday night, when they fell to the visiting Nashville Predators 4-1. Chicago's win provided some much-needed relief, after it lost six games by two goals or more during their eight-game skid (0-7-1). Max Domi scored twice Saturday for the Blackhawks, who raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes. They were never seriously threatened in winning for the first time since Nov. 12 and for just the third time in 17 games (3-10-4) since opening 4-2-0. The margin of victory was tied for the Blackhawks' largest of the season. Chicago also beat the San Jose Sharks 5-2 on Oct. 15. |
12-01-22 | Capitals v. Seattle Kraken UNDER 6 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 3 h 27 m | Show
If it seems like every goal Alex Ovechkin scores this season has historical significance, perhaps that's because it does. Ovechkin will try to continue his assault on the league's record book Thursday night when the Washington Capitals face the surprising Kraken in Seattle. The longtime Capitals star scored twice Tuesday in a 5-1 victory at Vancouver, tying one NHL record and breaking another. Ovechkin's first strike against the Canucks was his 135th game-opening goal, tying Jaromir Jagr for most in league history. His second tally was the 403rd road goal of his career, breaking Wayne Gretzky's NHL mark. "It's always nice when you beat the Great One," Ovechkin said. "It doesn't matter what kind of milestone it is. It's history." Ovechkin has 793 career goals, eight behind Gordie Howe for second in NHL history. Gretzky holds the record with 894. |
12-01-22 | Oilers v. Wild UNDER 6.5 | 3-5 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 30 m | Show
Minnesota left winger Kirill Kaprizov will try to extend a nine-game point streak on Thursday night when the Wild face the Edmonton Oilers in Saint Paul, Minn. Kaprizov has five goals and nine assists during the hot streak. He also has at least one assist in eight straight games, tying the franchise record set by Jim Dowd in the 2001-02 season. The 25-year-old Russian isn't worried about the streak, though. "To be honest, I don't really think to think about that or criticize or talk about my game when it's going well," Kaprizov said through an interpreter. "I just kind of play and let the media you yourselves tell me if I'm doing better or not. I focus on my game and just doing the best I can." His teammates, however, are heaping praise on a player who has helped Minnesota win three of its past four games. "There's no pass that guy is not making through the seams," forward Matt Boldy said. "You kind of see it unfold with how smart he is. Just walking down, he knows I'm there. I've got to be ready for it for sure." Edmonton is set to play the second of back-to-back games after defeating the host Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Wednesday evening. Leon Draisaitl led the Oilers with two goals and an assist, giving him six goals in his past six games. |
11-30-22 | Oilers v. Blackhawks UNDER 6.5 | 5-4 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 54 m | Show
Hungry for a jolt following a stretch of seven losses in 10 games, the Edmonton Oilers think they've rediscovered their spark. Edmonton enters Wednesday's visit to the Chicago Blackhawks with two straight high-drama wins. After rebounding from a 3-0, third-period deficit to top the host New York Rangers on Saturday, the Oilers prevailed 4-3 in overtime on Monday, stunning the visiting Florida Panthers with the tying goal with five seconds to go in regulation before netting the game-winner 22 seconds into overtime. "We haven't had the greatest first quarter ... not where we want to be," Oilers star Connor McDavid said. "We want to go on a run. We have to put a string together." Can the club's recent heroics be a turning point? "Yeah, hopefully," said Leon Draisaitl, who scored the winning goal against Florida. "You've got to work for those bounces, when it seems like it's going your way. They don't just come and fall on your plate. We've put in two pretty solid games here." The outlook is decidedly less sunny for Chicago. The Blackhawks have lost seven straight and nine of 10, with Sunday's 7-2 home loss to Winnipeg tying for the most lopsided result of the current slide. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews challenged the team's preparation following the Winnipeg game, which prompted a players-only meeting before the team spoke with the media. |
11-30-22 | Sabres v. Red Wings UNDER 6.5 | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 27 m | Show
The losses have piled up for the Buffalo Sabres, but the most recent defeat was particularly galling. Buffalo squandered a two-goal lead in the final six minutes of regulation, then lost in overtime to Tampa Bay 6-5 on Monday. The Sabres will try to end the month on a winning note when they visit Detroit on Wednesday night. Buffalo is 2-9-1 over its past 12 games. "You leave this game; that's going to dominate everything else," Sabres coach Don Granato said of the late collapse. "And it was every single guy. It was all the way to the overtime goal. "I do say all this, and our guys will learn from it. I know they will. I know they are [ticked] off at it. They've got to own it, and they will. I know we will. It happened, and you've got to make sure you gain the experience of it to the point where you don't allow it to happen again." Buffalo appeared to be on its way to a third victory in four games after Dylan Cozens and Jeff Skinner scored third-period goals against the Lightning. Steven Stamkos answered Skinner's tally 16 seconds later, and Brandon Hagel tied the score with a power-play goal. Stamkos scored again during the overtime session. |
11-29-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Kings UNDER 6 | 9-8 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 55 m | Show
Los Angeles Kings coach Todd McLellan had some high praise for forward Arthur Kaliyev after he scored two power-play goals in a 3-2 overtime loss to visiting Ottawa on Sunday. Especially after what he saw on a one-timer from the right hash marks midway through the game. "I'm not saying that Arthur is (Washington Capitals forward Alex) Ovechkin by no means ... but they both have (the same) element of a shot from that spot," McLellan said. "Obviously, different hands, and you have respect it and it opens up ice for others." Kaliyev and the Kings, who have lost four of their past five games (1-2-2), will look to get back on track Tuesday night when they play host to the streaking Seattle Kraken. Fellow forward Gabriel Vilardi, who leads the Kings with 11 goals, didn't play Sunday because of an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day. McLellan indicated Vilardi was injured in a 3-2 overtime loss at Seattle on Nov. 19. Kaliyev, who has scored six of his eight goals on the power play this season, stepped up to help the Kings earn a point Sunday. |
11-29-22 | Panthers v. Flames UNDER 6.5 | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 21 m | Show
The Calgary Flames hope a return to home ice will spark their offense when they host the slumping Florida Panthers on Tuesday. The Flames begin a five-game homestand after posting a modest 2-3-1 record on their six-game road trip, which included a 5-4 shootout win over the Panthers on Nov. 19. Just when it seemed as if Calgary might be escaping its season-long scoring malaise, the team has again had trouble putting the puck into the net. Calgary has scored only three goals during its three-game winless streak (0-2-1). A 3-0 loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday was the Flames' first shutout defeat of the season, and a 3-2 setback to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday saw the Flames register a season-low 20 shots. |
11-29-22 | Avalanche v. Jets UNDER 6 | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 4 h 29 m | Show
Widespread contributions have been key to the success of both the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets this season. The Avalanche look to extend their season-high road win streak to four as they open a four-game road trip, while trying to keep the Jets from an overall third consecutive victory, on Tuesday night. Dallas sits atop the Central Division in the final days of November, but Winnipeg and the reigning Stanley Cup champion Avalanche are close behind. Colorado has won eight of 10, while the Jets are 11-3-1 since losing three of their first five to open the season. The Avs have managed to stay strong while dealing with injuries to the likes of budding star Valeri Nichushkin (ankle), Evan Rodrigues (lower body) and captain Gabriel Landeskog -- the latter who has yet to play in 2022-23 due to knee surgery. Stars Mikko Rantanen (29 points), Nathan MacKinnon (28 points) and Artturi Lehkonen (four goals, seven assists during a nine-game point streak) have certainly paced Colorado, but Dryden Hunt scored his first goal in 15 games since coming over from the New York Rangers during Saturday's 4-1 home victory over Dallas. |
11-28-22 | Stars v. Blues UNDER 6 | 4-1 | Win | 105 | 4 h 6 m | Show
The St. Louis Blues will try to ride the momentum from their improbable Saturday night comeback at Florida when they host the Dallas Stars on Monday. The Blues trailed the Panthers 4-1 with less than 12 minutes remaining before rallying for a 5-4 overtime victory. The dramatic victory snapped a two-game skid. "We understand that games are at a premium," the Blues' Torey Krug said, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "You need to collect points when you can. So we knew if there was a chance -- if we got one -- that we could come back in the game. We didn't hang our heads, we just kept our heads up and went to work, and like I said, we got rewarded." The Blues hope to start a new streak during their roller coaster of a season. They won their first three games, lost eight straight in regulation time, then won seven consecutive games before losing the next two. |
11-28-22 | Maple Leafs v. Red Wings UNDER 6.5 | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 14 m | Show
At least one streak will end in Detroit on Monday. The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to finish off a perfect four-game road trip against the host Red Wings on Monday. Also, Maple Leafs forward Mitchell Marner will seek to extend his point streak to 17 games. Detroit, in turn, will try to extend its winning streak to five games and defenseman Filip Hronek will aim to score for the fifth consecutive contest. Toronto has collected victories against New Jersey, Minnesota and Pittsburgh during its road swing. It posted a 4-1 win over the Penguins on Saturday as Marner scored in the first minute and added an assist. Marner has 22 points (five goals, 17 assists) during the point streak and needs at least one point against Detroit and San Jose on Wednesday to tie the club record set by Darryl Sittler (1977-78) and Eddie Olczyk (1989-90). "I guess it's cool, but we're trying to get wins as a hockey team," Marner said. "We're trying to do something special. We're just trying to collect wins and do our thing." The Maple Leafs haven't lost in regulation over the last eight games, going 6-0-2 during that streak. During the last five victories, they have outscored the opposition 10-1 in the first period. A pair of those wins came in Pittsburgh, as they beat the Penguins 5-2 on Nov. 15 after scoring two goals in the first period. |
11-27-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Ducks UNDER 6 | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 12 m | Show
The Ducks, who got their first regulation victory of the season Wednesday as John Gibson made 41 saves in a 3-2 decision against the New York Rangers, couldn't follow that up. They suffered a 5-1 defeat Friday against visiting Ottawa, which scored three power-play goals and went 6-for-6 on the penalty kill. "The lesson there is that we have a young team," Anaheim defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk said. "We have a lot of guys in here who are starting to realize how hard it is to win in this league." Max Jones scored the lone goal for Anaheim, which has lost four of its past five games. "Penalties were kind of everywhere," Jones said. "Ruins the flow of the game. There were a lot of them. It's hard to stick in it through those games like that. I think that's something we've got to figure out moving forward. ... All around, just kind of a mess." The Ducks yielded eight power plays. |
11-27-22 | Coyotes v. Wild UNDER 6 | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 3 m | Show
The Minnesota Wild continue their six-game homestand Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Coyotes in St. Paul, Minn. The Wild have split the first four games following a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello each scored and set up a goal and Alex Goligoski had two assists for Minnesota. Zuccarello's goal with 3:34 left in the third period pulled the Wild within 4-3 but they couldn't get the equalizer. "We had the looks," Wild coach Dean Evason said. "Everything was executed correctly from whenever we pulled (goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury), four (minutes) and a bit, we definitely gave ourselves a chance at the end." Kaprizov extended his point streak to eight games (four goals, seven assists) and Zuccarello has eight points (two goals, six assists) in his last eight games. Fleury made 24 saves in his return after missing three games with an upper-body injury. He would have liked another chance at Zach Aston-Reese's goal that made it 2-1. |
11-26-22 | Capitals v. Devils UNDER 6.5 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 19 m | Show
The Washington Capitals will aim to continue their dominance of the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night when they open a six-game, 12-day road trip in Newark, N.J. The Capitals have emerged victorious in each of their past six trips to the Garden State, including a 6-3 win on Oct. 24. All told, Washington is 13-2-1 in its past 16 games in New Jersey and 26-3-3 in the past 32 overall vs. the Devils dating to the 2015-16 season. Six different players scored in that October encounter for Washington, including superstar captain Alex Ovechkin. Scoring a goal is nothing new for Ovechkin, of course. The three-time Hart Trophy recipient has done so 791 times in his decorated NHL career. Ovechkin was at it again on Friday, joining T.J. Oshie in collecting a goal and an assist to lead the Capitals to a 3-0 victory over the Calgary Flames. |
