09-17-23 | Colts v. Texans | Top | 31-20 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 43 m | Show |
Indy’s running game struggled mightily last week without the top two backs, 2021 NFL rushing champion Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss. Richardson had 10 carries for 40 yards, while the rest of the team logged 16 carries for 25 yards. It could be more of the same this week. While the disgruntled Taylor (ankle) is on the physically unable to perform and is out until at least Week 5, Moss’ status is unclear. He broke his right arm during training camp and didn’t return to practice until last week then was inactive for the Jacksonville game. Steichen wouldn’t even hint at whether Moss might play in Houston. |

09-17-23 | Chargers v. Titans +3 | Top | 24-27 | Win | 100 | 3 h 29 m | Show |
Ryan Tannehill debuted as the Tennessee Titans' starting quarterback in October 2019 with a b ig win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Music City. The veteran desperately needs a repeat performance Sunday against the same team in the Titans' home opener. Tannehill posted his worst passer rating in Tennessee's 16-15 loss in New Orleans, which also marked just the third game of his career and first since his rookie season with three interceptions and no touchdown passes. The 35-year-old quarterback in the final year of his deal watched the tape five times. We expect there to be a bounceback this week |

09-15-23 | Utah State v. Air Force -9 | Top | 21-39 | Win | 100 | 6 h 0 m | Show |
09-15-23 | Virginia v. Maryland -14.5 | Top | 14-42 | Win | 100 | 5 h 9 m | Show |
Maryland moved to the Big Ten in 2014 and storied rivalries with longtime ACC opponents, particularly Virginia, went by the wayside. The Cavaliers and Terrapins reconvene for the first time since 2013 when Maryland (2-0) hosts Virginia (0-2) under the lights on Friday in College Park, Md. A fast start is the focus of the Terps after stumbling out of the gate last Saturday against Charlotte. Maryland entered as a 24.5-point favorite, but trailed 14-0 less than four minutes into the contest, didn't score a touchdown in the first half and only led by three entering the fourth quarter. The Terps eventually pulled away with three touchdowns in the fourth, including Roman Hemby's 15-yard scamper that sealed Maryland's 38-20 victory. |
|||||||
09-14-23 | Vikings v. Eagles -6 | Top | 28-34 | Push | 0 | 17 h 44 m | Show |
Jalen Hurts skipped the preseason, the NFL MVP runner-up is simply too important to risk an injury to play a meaningless snap. He also knows how to run an offense, putting up some of the best all-around numbers by a Philadelphia Eagles quarterback in franchise history. He even led the Eagles to the Super Bowl, a feat sure to be recognized at Thursday’s home opener against the Minnesota Vikings. But maybe, just maybe, even with training camp and joint practices and offseason workouts, the preseason games on the sideline might have thrown off Hurts a bit says the national media. We don't belive that to be true. Eagles roll. |
|||||||
09-14-23 | Navy v. Memphis -14 | Top | 24-28 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 8 m | Show |
Memphis has played in two uncompetitive games so far this season and is a significant favorite against the Midshipmen (1-1). But Thursday is another opportunity for the Tigers (2-0) to build momentum before they embark on a three-game stretch against Missouri, Boise State, and Tulane. |
|||||||
09-10-23 | Texans +9.5 v. Ravens | Top | 9-25 | Loss | -110 | 24 h 60 m | Show |
The Ravens made some important moves of their own this offseason, although the biggest possible change — Jackson leaving — didn't happen. Baltimore signed its franchise quarterback to a new five-year deal and gave him a couple significant new targets in Odell Beckham Jr. and first-round pick Zay Flowers. Still, it's the Texans who are coming off the bigger offseason overhaul, and they can only hope it will start paying dividends soon. Their first challenge is a trip to Baltimore, where they've never won in six tries. I just think I'm not in the mood to lay almost 10 points in the first week. |
|||||||
09-10-23 | Bengals v. Browns +2.5 | Top | 3-24 | Win | 100 | 24 h 50 m | Show |
In just three seasons, he's taken the NFL by storm, leading Cincinnati to an unexpected Super Bowl appearance and consecutive AFC title games while establishing himself as one of the league's elite quarterbacks. Only 26, and there's hardly a flaw on his resume. Except for his record against the Browns. Burrow, who returned to practice this week after missing more than a month with a strained calf, is just 1-4 against AFC North rival Cleveland heading into Sunday's season opener, when he'll match up with Deshaun Watson and a defense that has had his number so far. Although his stats have been pretty solid - completing 66.2% of his passes with 10 touchdowns - Burrow has been a loser against the Browns. He's 23-13-1 versus everyone else. |
|||||||
09-09-23 | Stanford +29.5 v. USC | Top | 10-56 | Loss | -110 | 14 h 42 m | Show |
Stanford (1-0) poses a bigger test for that USC defense this weekend. Last week, in a 37-24 victory over Hawaii, the Cardinal rolled up 406 yards of offense in a balanced attack. Quarterback Ashton Daniels played well in his first career start, completing 25 of 36 passes with 248 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels also was active on the ground, rushing 11 times for 42 yards. Daniels already seems to have found a favorite target in senior tight end Benjamin Yurosek, who had nine catches for 138 yards and a touchdown against the Rainbow Warriors. It was his career high in receiving yards and one catch away from tying his personal best in catches. Stanford first-year coach Troy Taylor has to earn his money to return the once-illustrious program to its winning ways. The Cardinal has a 14-28 record in the last four seasons but made a statement in their season-opening win. |
|||||||
09-09-23 | SMU v. Oklahoma -15.5 | Top | 11-28 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show |
The Mustangs (1-0) will visit No. 18 Oklahoma (1-0) on Saturday in Norman, and both teams are coming off decisive season-opening wins: The Sooners blasted Arkansas State 73-0 -- outgaining the Red Wolves 642-208 -- and the Mustangs handled Louisiana Tech 38-14 with a balanced offensive attack. Oklahoma's defense struggled last season, and while its remade unit certainly looked better in the opener, SMU's offense figures to offer a stiffer challenge. The Sooners added Michigan transfer Andrel Anthony, who had three catches for 66 yards in the opener, as well as freshman Jaquaize Pettaway, who led Oklahoma with nine catches. |
|||||||
09-09-23 | Purdue v. Virginia Tech -2 | Top | 24-17 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 32 m | Show |
The quarterback matchup should be intriguing when nonconference foes Purdue and host Virginia Tech meet for a noon ET kickoff Saturday in Blacksburg. Purdue has a new face to its program at quarterback but certainly not a new face to college football. Hudson Card played three seasons at Texas before transferring to Purdue, and the redshirt junior seemed to fit in well in his first start with the Boilermakers. Purdue lost its season opener at home to Fresno State 39-35, but Card went 17 of 30 passing for 254 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Defense was the biggest issue for the Boilermakers as they gave up 371 yards passing. Purdue next faces an experienced quarterback in Virginia Tech starter Grant Wells, who is coming off a good debut. Wells, a redshirt senior, went 17 of 29 for 251 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-17 home win over Old Dominion. |
|||||||
09-08-23 | Indiana State v. Indiana -29.5 | Top | 7-41 | Win | 100 | 7 h 1 m | Show |
Indiana (0-1) put up more than a fight in an opening weekend loss to No. 3 Ohio State, a 23-3 defeat but a game that was there for the taking in the second half when the Hoosiers trailed 10-3. Indiana is no stranger to Indiana State or the Sycamores head coach since 2017, Curt Mallory, the youngest son of former Indiana coach Bill Mallory who played football at Michigan. Allen and Curt Mallory are close and have talked consistently since the pandemic, making the pregame greeting between the two coaches more of a thoughtful recognition of mutual respect. |
|||||||
09-07-23 | Lions +5 v. Chiefs | Top | 21-20 | Win | 100 | 35 h 35 m | Show |
Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee during the Chiefs' final practice before their opener against Detroit, leaving the status of the All-Pro tight end in question when Kansas City faces the Lions on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said the injury occurred during their final full workout Tuesday but provided no other details. Players in the locker room said Kelce was hurt on a play in the red zone but was able to limp off the field on his own according to Dave Skaretta from the AP. I liked Detroit before the injury, you have to like them even more now. |
|||||||
09-07-23 | Murray State v. Louisville -40 | Top | 0-56 | Win | 100 | 34 h 57 m | Show |
Louisville received good marks for its first game under head coach Jeff Brohm. Now the Cardinals try to treat the program's former star quarterback to success in his home debut. Louisville takes on Murray State on Thursday night. These teams last met in 2017, with the Cardinals owning a 14-6 mark overall and 11-4 at home. Murray State hasn't toppled a Football Bowl Subdivision team since knocking off Louisville 26-23 in 1984 when the divisions were NCAA I-A and I-AA. |
|||||||
09-04-23 | Clemson v. Duke +13 | Top | 7-28 | Win | 100 | 7 h 6 m | Show |
For Duke, it's an opportunity to show that last year's campaign -- the first under coach Mike Elko -- wasn't a fluke. The Blue Devils went 9-4 under Elko, their highest win total since 2014 and just the seventh time in program history that they won at least nine games. A victory over Clemson -- which has long dominated the league -- would go along way in boosting expectations and credibility for Duke. On defense, Clemson has to replace four NFL draft picks but will still be anchored by stellar linebacker duo Barrett Carter and Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who combined for 24 tackles for losses last year. Duke returns its fair share of standouts, too, including 98 percent of its offensive production. Junior quarterback Riley Leonard is back under center after totaling 33 touchdowns and more than 3,600 yards of total offense last season. On defense, the Blue Devils bring back defensive lineman DeWayne Carter and safety Brandon Johnson, each of whom had 5.5 sacks last season. Fifth-year senior Ja'Mion Franklin -- who had three sacks and five pass breakups last season -- joins Carter as an anchor on the defensive front. |
|||||||
09-03-23 | LSU v. Florida State +2.5 | Top | 24-45 | Win | 100 | 26 h 25 m | Show |
Each offense features a dynamic quarterback -- Jayden Daniels of the Tigers and the Seminoles' Jordan Travis, both of whom threw two touchdown passes in last year's meeting. This isn't just the second consecutive season that the Tigers and Seminoles have met early, but it's the third consecutive season that Kelly's team and Norvell's team have near the outset. Kelly's Notre Dame team defeated Norvell's Seminoles 41-38 in overtime in the 2021 opener in Tallahassee, Fla. Both schools have been keeping a close eye on Idalia, the tropical storm that was forecast to become a strong hurricane and hit Florida on Wednesday. |
|||||||
09-03-23 | Northwestern v. Rutgers -5.5 | Top | 7-24 | Win | 100 | 19 h 2 m | Show |
While the Wildcats ranked last in the West Division in Cleveland.com's annual Big Ten media poll, Rutgers at least beat out Indiana for sixth in the East Division. The Scarlet Knights are aiming higher and hope to benefit from stability at quarterback. Gavin Wimsatt was named Rutgers' starter before fall camp even opened. The former four-star recruit was an early enrollee in 2021 and saw the field in fits and starts in 2022 while nursing an injury. |
|||||||
09-02-23 | Arkansas State +36.5 v. Oklahoma | Top | 0-73 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 41 m | Show |
09-01-23 | Stanford v. Hawaii +3 | Top | 37-24 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 31 m | Show |
The Troy Taylor era at Stanford will start Friday at Hawaii with uncertainty, not only because of the Cardinal's potential move to the ACC, but because the new coach will not announce his starting quarterback before the game. With former starter Tanner McKee now in the NFL, Taylor is deciding between early enrollee Myles Jackson, Ari Patu, Ashton Daniels and Syracuse transfer Justin Lamson. Until i see consistent QB play from the Cardinal, I'll go against them. |
|||||||
09-01-23 | Miami-OH +17 v. Miami-FL | Top | 3-38 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 3 m | Show |
Coming off a disappointing 5-7 season in their debut under coach Mario Cristobal, the Hurricanes will open their 2023 season at home on Friday night against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Hurricanes, favored by 17 points, are led by quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who is back for his third season as the starter. Slowed by injuries last year, Van Dyke for his career has completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 4,766 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 21 games (17 starts). The RedHawks gained transfer wide receiver Gage Larvadain, who caught 95 passes for 1,252 yards and seven touchdowns in two years for an FCS program, Southeastern Louisiana. The RedHawks also brought in two other potential starters from the transfer portal: ex-Notre Dame receiver Joe Wilkins Jr. and former Kentucky center John Young, who will join three returning RedHawks starters on the offensive line. Defensively, the RedHawks return seven starters from a unit that led the MAC in fewest points allowed (22.6). The biggest loss was starting cornerback John Saunders, who bolted to Ole Miss. He could be replaced by Southern Cal transfer Jayden Williams. |

08-26-23 | San Jose State v. USC -30.5 | Top | 28-56 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 49 m | Show |
08-26-23 | Ohio v. San Diego State -2 | Top | 13-20 | Win | 100 | 11 h 58 m | Show |
01-21-23 | Giants +8 v. Eagles | Top | 7-38 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 3 m | Show |
Take a look at all the good fortune the Philadelphia Eagles have enjoyed ahead of their postseason opener and it's no wonder they're feeling great about a Super Bowl run. Jalen Hurts is healthy (enough) after the Pro Bowl quarterback missed two games late in the year with a sprained right shoulder. All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson was left off the injury report Thursday for the first time since he suffered a torn adductor late last month. The NFC postseason runs through the Linc. The Eagles went 2-0 this season against the New York Giants, their NFC East rivals who will be visiting on Saturday night. And they are the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Life is good in Philly. |
|||||||
01-16-23 | Cowboys v. Bucs +3 | Top | 31-14 | Loss | -120 | 9 h 34 m | Show |
Tom Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers down a winding path to the playoffs. Dak Prescott helped the Dallas Cowboys weather significant challenges on their way to the postseason. The star quarterbacks meet Monday night in an NFC wild-card game, and they are hoping the regular-season adversity will pave the way to a Super Bowl run. "Everyone works hard to get to this point. There are no more second chances," said the 45-year-old Brady, who has the Bucs (8-9) in the hunt for a second title in three years despite finishing the regular season with a losing record for the first time in more than two decades as an NFL starter. "It's going to be hard, but we're battle-tested," the seven-time Super Bowl champion added. "We've had some tough games. Some we came back from. Some we haven't. But ... close won't be good enough going forward for anybody." Perhaps no team enters the playoffs under more of a microscope than Dallas (12-5), which lost Prescott for five games after he broke his right thumb during a season-opening loss to Tampa Bay, but remained in contention for the best record in the NFC until last weekend. |
|||||||
01-14-23 | Chargers v. Jaguars +2.5 | Top | 30-31 | Win | 100 | 9 h 42 m | Show |
Trevor Lawrence feels as if he's been in the playoffs the past two months. Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars were 3-7 and four games behind division-leading Tennessee in late November. It was clear they needed to find ways to start winning close games. Lawrence easily could have panicked or even packed it in. Instead, he and the Jaguars picked it up and won six of seven down the stretch, clinching the AFC South and returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Now, Lawrence will make his official postseason debut when the Jaguars (9-8) host fellow playoff newcomer Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers (10-7) in a wild-card game Saturday night. It could be the first of many postseason trips for two of the NFL's youngest rising stars. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Vikings +3.5 v. Packers | Top | 17-41 | Loss | -110 | 55 h 32 m | Show |
The Packers can be eliminated from the playoff picture if they lose Sunday and either the Commanders win at home against the Cleveland Browns (6-9) or the Detroit Lions (7-8) win at home against the Chicago Bears (3-12). The Browns-Commanders game and Bears-Lions matchup should be finishing up right around the time the Packers and Vikings have their opening kickoff. Minnesota (12-3) is seeking its first regular-season sweep of the Packers (7-8) since 2017. The Vikings went 1-0-1 against Green Bay in 2018. |
|||||||
01-01-23 | Panthers v. Bucs -3 | Top | 24-30 | Win | 100 | 51 h 20 m | Show |
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers don't have to sort through a bunch of potential tiebreaker scenarios to know what they need to do to win the NFC South and host a first-round playoff game. Beat the Panthers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, and Tom Brady and the first-place Bucs (7-8) will repeat as division champions and earn a postseason berth for the third straight year regardless of what happens in the final week of the regular season. Carolina (6-9), which has won four of its past six games to play its way back into contention after firing its coach and trading its best player, can claim its first NFC South title by closing with victories over Tampa Bay and New Orleans. "We know what this game entails," Panthers interim coach Steve Wilks said. "There is no reason to talk about it." |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Cowboys v. Titans +13 | Top | 27-13 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 48 m | Show |
The Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans are desperately chasing division titles as the regular season winds to a close. Their approach Thursday night will be very different. Dallas (11-4) still has some hope of a second straight NFC East title with the Cowboys needing to win their final two games with Philadelphia losing at least once. Surviving Thursday night as healthy as possible is Tennessee's top priority. The only way the Titans (7-8) can win a third consecutive AFC South title is by beating the Jaguars in Jacksonville in Week 18. So if coach Mike Vrabel wants to rest as many of his Titans as possible, that's just fine with the Cowboys. "If they want to roll us the ball a couple of times and let us go from there, I'm all for that," Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott said. "We'll take it however they want to do it." Dallas has won five of six, including a 10-point comeback last week for a 40-34 win to keep Philadelphia from clinching home-field advantage throughout the postseason in the NFC. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott couldn't agree more, even with a postseason berth already secure. |
|||||||
12-29-22 | Minnesota v. Syracuse +10 | Top | 28-20 | Win | 100 | 88 h 8 m | Show |
Minnesota and Syracuse feature standout running backs in Mohamed Ibrahim and Sean Tucker but only one star will actually play in Yankee Stadium. Ibrahim will attempt to complete his remarkable comeback from a ruptured Achilles on Thursday when his Golden Gophers make their first appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl against the Orange, who hope another running back can compensate for Tucker's absence. Last season, Ibrahim was injured in the opening game against Ohio State after rushing for 1,076 yards in seven games during the 2020 season. This year, he was the nation's fourth-leading rusher with 1,594 yards and a finalist for the Doak Walker Award. His 19 rushing touchdowns were tied for second in the nation. |
|||||||
12-28-22 | Central Florida +3.5 v. Duke | Top | 13-30 | Loss | -115 | 64 h 23 m | Show |
Duke is bowl-eligible for the first time since 2018. To cap off Mike Elko's first season at the helm, the Blue Devils draw UCF in Annapolis, Md. at the Military Bowl on Wednesday. Should Duke (8-4) beat the Knights (9-4), it will give the Blue Devils just their seventh season of nine or more wins in program history. Duke has only had two seasons with that many wins since it joined the ACC in 1953. Both of those campaigns came under the previous coach, David Cutcliffe. But Cutcliffe's Duke teams floundered near the end of his tenure, and the Blue Devils went a combined 10-25 from 2019 to 2021. Elko quickly got the program back on the right track in his first season. Duke had a winning record in ACC play (5-3) for the first time since 2014. Elko was named ACC Coach of the Year and is a semifinalist for the George Munger Coach of the Year award. |
|||||||
12-27-22 | Georgia Southern v. Buffalo +4 | Top | 21-23 | Win | 100 | 39 h 36 m | Show |
Kyle Vantrease was the starting quarterback at Buffalo last season. This year, Vantrease starts at Georgia Southern against his former team in the Camellia Bowl on Tuesday in Montgomery, Ala. Georgia Southern (6-6) will be participating in a bowl game for the fifth time; the Eagles are 3-1 and won the 2018 Camellia Bowl. Buffalo (6-6) is in its sixth bowl game; the Bulls are 2-3 and won the 2020 Camellia Bowl. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. Georgia Southern, in its first season under coach Clay Helton, became bowl-eligible by beating Appalachian State 51-48 in double overtime in the final game of the season. Buffalo became eligible for the postseason by with a last-minute 23-22 win over Akron in their season finale. |
|||||||
12-24-22 | Middle Tennessee State +7 v. San Diego State | Top | 25-23 | Win | 100 | 10 h 0 m | Show |
Last year, it was the Bahamas. This year, it's Hawaii. No Group of 5 programs has fared better at scoring tropical bowl destinations the last two seasons than Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders will try to turn their nine-hour plane trip to Honolulu into a win in the Hawaii Bowl against San Diego State on Saturday. "Two melatonins before I get on the plane to get as much sleep as I can," said safety Teldrick Ross of the trip across four time zones and an ocean. "That way, if I can cut the plane ride down to only like four or five and a half hours, I'll take it." Middle Tennessee (7-5) has become a bowl regular under veteran coach Rick Stockstill. The former Florida State quarterback has taken the team to 10 bowls in his 17 seasons on the job, and his 108 wins in Murfreesboro are the third most in program history. The Blue Raiders' 2022 highlight was a 45-31 win at Miami on Sept. 24, sending the Hurricanes out of the rankings for good. Middle Tennessee quarterback Chase Cunningham threw for 408 yards that day, and he has thrown for 2,920 yards in 11 games with 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The team's defensive leader is safety Tra Fluellen, who has 97 tackles and seven pass breakups. |
|||||||
12-21-22 | South Alabama -3 v. Western Kentucky | Top | 23-44 | Loss | -120 | 9 h 5 m | Show |
South Alabama will hope to put a bow on its most successful FBS season by winning a bowl game for the first time in program history. At the end of a 10-2 season, South Alabama was selected to play in the New Orleans Bowl against Western Kentucky on Wednesday inside the Superdome. The Jaguars had never finished a season over .500 since joining FBS in 2012. Their only two losses this year came by one point on the road against UCLA in September and by four points to rival Troy in October. Troy and South Alabama ended up tied atop the Sun Belt West, so Troy advanced to the Sun Belt title game and won the conference championship. A trip to New Orleans is not a bad consolation prize for the Jaguars, who are 0-2 in bowl games. Second-year coach Kane Wommack, who received a contract extension earlier this month, said the bowl trip is both a reward and a way to carry momentum into spring practices. |
|||||||
12-19-22 | Rams +7.5 v. Packers | Top | 12-24 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 49 m | Show |
This can't be what the NFL's schedule-makers and ESPN executives had in mind. When the league's slate of prime-time games came out in the spring, a mid-December matchup between the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams and the three-time defending NFC North champion Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field sounded like TV rating gold. Surely visions of gorgeous wide-angle shots of the falling snow and big-time playoff implications were dancing in their heads. But instead of a playoff preview, the "Monday Night Football" audience will get two of the NFL's most disappointing teams when the Rams (4-9) visit the Packers (5-8). Although both teams are still mathematically in playoff contention, the Rams have assured a sub-.500 record and the Packers could win out and still miss the postseason for the first time under coach Matt LaFleur. |
|||||||
12-18-22 | Lions v. Jets -1 | Top | 20-17 | Loss | -116 | 2 h 57 m | Show |
Robert Saleh is always quick to remind people he's an eternal optimist, thinking the best-case scenario in every situation. That's why it wasn't necessarily so stunning to hear the New York Jets coach declare after his team's loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday that the squads would meet again - in the playoffs. Saleh is also a realist. He knows in order for the Jets to snap their 11-year postseason drought, which is the NFL's longest active skid, they've got plenty more winning to do. And it needs to start Sunday at MetLife Stadium against a roaring Detroit Lions squad that has won five of its past six. "We're going to get everyone's absolute best shot because they're fighting for their lives, too," Saleh said. "And that's why we strive for December football. This is the fun stuff." After the game Sunday comes a Thursday night home game against Jacksonville (5-8) before road games at Seattle (7-6) and Miami (8-5). |
|||||||
12-17-22 | Boise State v. North Texas +12.5 | Top | 35-32 | Win | 100 | 11 h 41 m | Show |
Some might see the Frisco Bowl as a comedown for Boise State, considering it lost out on a Mountain West Conference title and a chance to play a Power 5 program in a bowl game. However, Broncos coach Andy Avalos says the team's appearance in Saturday night's Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas, against North Texas isn't the letdown many believe it is. "It's a big deal. For us, we're grateful to be in this bowl game," he said Monday. Whether it's because it's the Broncos' first bowl game since 2019 because of COVID-19 or because the Dallas Cowboys are allowing the team to practice at their facility, Boise State sounds like a team ready to play in a pre-Christmas bowl game. The Broncos (9-4) could have played Washington State in the LA Jimmy Kimmel Bowl, but instead fell 28-16 to Fresno State in the MWC championship game. That knocked them down the league's pecking order for bowl bids. Instead of playing in SoFi Stadium, the home of two NFL teams that are already hosted a Super Bowl, Boise State instead plays in a soccer-specific stadium outside of Dallas. But Avalos said early practices have been intense. |

12-17-22 | BYU +4.5 v. SMU | Top | 24-23 | Win | 100 | 9 h 41 m | Show |
When the football is kicked off in Saturday's New Mexico Bowl between SMU and BYU, the fans in attendance can expect plenty of fireworks -- in the form of points on the scoreboard. The high-powered offenses of SMU Mustangs coach Rhett Lashlee and BYU Cougars coach Kalani Sitake will take the field against a pair of struggling defensive units in a matchup that Vegas oddsmakers expect to feature tons of points. While BYU is a 1.5-point favorite, the most intriguing number is the over-under -- set at a lofty 74 points. Averaging 38.4 points in a 7-5 season, SMU was a part of history on Nov. 5 when it beat Houston 77-63 in the highest-scoring regulation contest in FBS history. Quarterback Tanner Mordecai threw for a program and American Athletic Conference record nine touchdowns and rushed for another. Meanwhile, BYU's defense has been costly for the Cougars during their 7-5 campaign. In a stretch of mediocre play, the unit likely cost them in losses to Arkansas, East Carolina, Liberty, and Notre Dame. Sitake's defense ranked 93rd in the nation, allowing 409.7 yards per game, but new defensive coordinator/associate head coach Jay Hill vows to improve that. |

12-17-22 | Colts +4 v. Vikings | Top | 36-39 | Win | 100 | 1 h 28 m | Show |
There's a connectivity and resiliency these Minnesota Vikings have crafted and harvested, helping put them on the brink of a division title despite being cumulatively outscored by their opponents. Time for another test of that character. After allowing 400-plus yards for a franchise-record fifth straight game in a defeat last week at Detroit, the Vikings (10-3) will take another crack at clinching when they host Indianapolis (4-8-1) on Saturday. The NFC North crown will be theirs with a win or a loss by the Lions. Though the Vikings were far more competitive than in earlier setbacks against Philadelphia and Dallas, the loss in Detroit furthers external doubts about whether their defense is strong enough for a deep run through the playoffs. |

12-15-22 | 49ers v. Seahawks +4 | Top | 21-13 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 2 m | Show |
A few years ago, Kyle Shanahan celebrated his first division title as San Francisco's coach in the visiting locker room at Seattle after a Sunday night game on the final day of the season that was nearly decided on the final snap. Shanahan and the 49ers can repeat what they accomplished in 2019 and wrap up another NFC West title on Thursday night in Seattle against the Seahawks, but with far less stress this time. San Francisco (9-4) is the hottest team in the NFL, having won six straight, the longest active streak in the league. The 49ers have won each of their past four games by double digits, including last week's 35-7 thumping of Tampa Bay. Since their last loss at Kansas City in Week 7, the 49ers have not allowed an opponent to score more than 16 points, and a win on Thursday would be the earliest in the season they have clinched a division title since 2011. |

12-01-22 | Bills v. Patriots +4 | Top | 24-10 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 31 m | Show |
The most recent time the Bills faced the Patriots, they left little doubt about their status as the pacesetter in the AFC East. Buffalo walked off the field with a 47-17 win in the wild-card round of the playoffs this past January, demoralizing a New England team that was celebrating being back in the postseason after a one-year absence. The Bills (8-3) will look to add to their recent run of success in a rivalry once dominated by the Patriots (6-5) during their latest trip to New England. Buffalo enters Thursday night's matchup the winners of three of the past four regular-season meetings and is in second place in the AFC's only division in which all four teams are above .500. But it has yet to notch a division win with close losses to Miami and the New York Jets. Both setbacks were on the road, a fact not lost on quarterback Josh Allen. |

11-28-22 | Steelers +2.5 v. Colts | Top | 24-17 | Win | 100 | 8 h 8 m | Show |
Jeff Saturday knows the score. The Indianapolis Colts have lost seven straight to the Pittsburgh Steelers since last winning 14 years ago - when Saturday was still in the prime of his playing career. And if Indy hopes to change anything in this lopsided series, he understands the Colts must be more focused, more precise, and more efficient Monday night. "We talked about just embracing the moment, having fun with it, appreciating it, and then performing at your best when you have these moments and opportunities," he said. "It's a huge challenge, and, obviously, Pittsburgh brings its own set of battles here." For the Colts (4-6-1), winning this one is a must if they hope to revitalize their rapidly fading playoff hopes. They've lost their past two home games - both 17-16 after the defense gave up a touchdown in the final 90 seconds and the offense couldn't move into field-goal position. Another agonizing loss to the Steelers could spell doom again for longtime Colts fans who have seen Pittsburgh repeatedly dash their dreams. |

11-27-22 | Raiders +3.5 v. Seahawks | Top | 40-34 | Win | 100 | 6 h 32 m | Show |
Las Vegas (3-7) snapped a three-game skid with last week's overtime win at Denver and in the process gave the Seahawks a boost. Every Denver loss improves Seattle's draft position as owners of the Broncos' first-round pick next season. (Denver got Russell Wilson out of that deal, which isn't looking so great for the Broncos.) The Raiders have lost five road games this season, four by one score. "We don't know this team very well, so our team is hard at work in terms of learning the personnel, the scheme, the challenges they present in all three phases," Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said. "And then obviously, going out there and playing in Seattle, it's always a different atmosphere. A very challenging place to play. So, a lot of hard work ahead of us here." |

11-27-22 | Bears +6 v. Jets | Top | 10-31 | Loss | -110 | 24 h 17 m | Show |
Mike White's phone rang Tuesday and it was Robert Saleh delivering some big news. The New York Jets coach was making a change at quarterback with Zach Wilson out and White tapped to start Sunday at home against the Chicago Bears. "It lasted all of 30 seconds," Saleh said of the conversation. "I said, `Hi, Mike, how are you doing?' He said, `Good.' I said, `You ready to roll, man?' He said, `Yep,' and I said, `All right, I'll see ya tomorrow.'" And just like that, the biggest decision so far of the playoff-hungry Jets' season was sealed. "Initially, just excited," White said of his reaction. "It's just what every player in this locker room wants is a chance to compete and prove themselves. But more importantly, it's just a chance to be a good teammate and help the team and worry about the team first." The Jets' decision to bench the underachieving Wilson was framed by Saleh as a mental and physical "reset" for the second-year quarterback. New York is also in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt at 6-4, and would be in the postseason right now after New England's loss Thursday night to Minnesota. So this game against the Bears (3-8), who have lost four straight and six of seven, could serve as an opportunity for the Jets to get right after a 10-3 loss at New England last Sunday. But it won't be the spicy quarterback matchup most were expecting when the schedule was announced in May with Wilson, the No. 2 pick last year, taking on the Bears' Justin Fields, who went nine selections later. |

11-26-22 | Iowa State +10 v. TCU | Top | 14-62 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 18 m | Show |
No. 4 TCU looks to keep its undefeated campaign intact and take its next step toward a berth in the College Football Playoff when it hosts struggling Iowa State on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs (11-0, 8-0 Big 12) have already clinched a spot in the league championship game on Dec. 3 in Arlington, Texas, where they will play either No. 12 Kansas State or No. 23 Texas. And while the Big 12 title will be up for grabs in that game, TCU has a bigger goal -- beating Iowa State to remain in the top four of the CFP rankings. How TCU got to this point without a loss is a story in itself, especially in its most recent game. That's when the Horned Frogs needed a fire-drill, last-second field goal from Griffin Kell to beat Baylor 29-28 on the road last Saturday to stay unbeaten. TCU scored the game's final nine points over the last 2:07. Max Duggan completed 24 of 35 passes for 327 yards while leading TCU in rushing with 50 yards on eight carries, including a 7-yard touchdown. Taye Barber had a team-best five receptions for 108 yards, his second 100-yard game of the season and the fourth of his career. |

11-26-22 | Old Dominion +15.5 v. South Alabama | Top | 20-27 | Win | 100 | 1 h 26 m | Show |
The Old Dominion Monarchs (3-8; 4-7 ATS; 2-5 conf.) extended their losing streak to five games last Saturday. Playing as 16-point road underdogs, the Monarchs suffered a 27-14 defeat at the Appalachian State Mountaineers. At least, they covered the spread for the first time since Week 7 and a surprising 49-21 victory at the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. App State outgained Old Dominion 498-394 in total yards, and the Monarchs trailed 27-0 at the end of the third quarter, scoring a couple of consolation touchdowns late in the fourth. Sophomore QB Hayden Wolff completed 22 of his 37 passing attempts for 308 yards and two touchdowns, while sophomore wideout Javon Harvey had four receptions for 133 yards and a pair of scores. Let's take the Monarchs with the big number again. |

11-25-22 | Nebraska +11 v. Iowa | Top | 24-17 | Win | 100 | 5 h 21 m | Show |
Iowa can get Big Ten title shot by beating Nebraska After losing three consecutive conference games, Iowa stands one victory from the Big Ten championship game thanks to a four-game winning streak. Iowa, at one point, was 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Then came victories over Northwestern, Purdue, Wisconsin and Minnesota, pushing the Hawkeyes (7-4, 5-3 Big Ten) in position to play either Ohio State or Michigan in the Big Ten title game. A victory over Nebraska (3-8, 2-6) on Friday at Iowa City, Iowa, will make it happen. "Really happy for our guys," said Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, who was embroiled in criticism after the early struggles this season. "Really happy locker room. That's November football, whatever it takes to get it done." Iowa has won seven straight games against Nebraska, which is likely playing its last game under interim head coach Mickey Joseph. The Cornhuskers lost five consecutive Big Ten games after starting 2-1, including a painful defeat last week. Nebraska was competitive in the 15-14 home loss to Wisconsin but fell short when the Badgers scored on a touchdown run with 35 seconds left. |

11-24-22 | Patriots v. Vikings -2.5 | Top | 26-33 | Win | 100 | 10 h 41 m | Show |
The first regular-season game Kevin O'Connell participated in during his fleeting NFL playing career came in late-game relief for New England in a rare lopsided loss. The Patriots had a bye the following week, and sure enough coach Bill Belichick had them ready for a bounce-back victory. Even after Tom Brady was lost for the year with a knee injury in the opener, the Patriots finished that 2008 season with an 11-5 record. The response to the Week 3 blowout was methodical, not maniacal. The message was about controlling what was in their control and simply letting the rest of it go. "That sticks with me to this very day, just as an example of what it's like to coach in those moments where adversity hits and how you need to be at your best for your team," O'Connell said. The first-year Minnesota Vikings coach has found himself in that very situation this week, following a 40-3 loss to Dallas. The Vikings (8-2) host the Patriots (6-4), still coached by Belichick all these years later, on Thursday night with only four days to regroup. O'Connell, fittingly, will experience one of the biggest tests of his mettle as the boss against a coach who significantly influenced his know-how and perspective. |

11-24-22 | Giants +10.5 v. Cowboys | Top | 20-28 | Win | 100 | 6 h 3 m | Show |
The Giants just gave up season highs in points and turnovers (three) in a 31-18 loss to Detroit that dropped them into a tie with the Cowboys. Since Dallas won 23-16 at New York in Week 3, the Giants would essentially fall two games behind the defending NFC East champions with another loss to them. This is where the short week could come in handy for New York. It's just the second Thanksgiving meeting out of 122 overall in the storied rivalry. "I think it makes it easier because we have no choice, but to quickly move on to the next opponent," Giants defensive end Leonard Williams said. "Regardless of win or lose, every week we talk about flushing the last game and moving on to the next one." New York quarterback Daniel Jones has four rushing touchdowns, more than in any of his first three seasons. He probably doesn't want to be reminded of one he didn't get last season. |
|||||||
11-24-22 | Bills v. Lions +9.5 | Top | 28-25 | Win | 100 | 2 h 48 m | Show |
The Buffalo Bills are back in Detroit and this time, they're facing the suddenly surging Lions on Thanksgiving. The NFL shifted Buffalo's previous home game against Cleveland to Ford Field after a winter storm dumped several feet of snow across the Buffalo area. The Bills dug out of their snow-packed home and some needed help from team employees, neighbors and strangers to get out of town before beating the Browns to end a two-game losing streak. Buffalo (7-3) is tied with Miami atop the AFC East and needs another win to keep pace with the Dolphins while holding off New England and the New York Jets, teams in the division that are only one game back. "These short weeks are pretty tough in terms of scheduling and guys trying to get their bodies right to play, but it's tough for them as well," quarterback Josh Allen said. Detroit (4-6) has won three games in a row for the first time in five years and the last such stretch of success was snapped on Thanksgiving, starting a five-game losing streak on the holiday. |

11-22-22 | Ball State +2.5 v. Miami-OH | Top | 17-18 | Win | 100 | 7 h 49 m | Show |
Carson Steele is Ball State’s offense this season. The running back ranks ninth in the FBS in rushing yards with 1,376 and the true sophomore has 12 rushing touchdowns in addition. Steele utilizes his 6’1”, 215-pound frame and impressive weight room numbers to shed tackles at a jaw-dropping rate. Last week, the midgame injury left him four yards shy of his sixth consecutive 100-yard rushing game. With his status in doubt Tuesday, Ball State must reimagine its offense, but the Cardinals could still lean heavily on the run game with Will Jones and Vaughn Pemberton out of the gate. |
|||||||
11-20-22 | Bears +3 v. Falcons | Top | 24-27 | Push | 0 | 22 h 5 m | Show |
Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears are learning how to score in the quarterback's second season. Learning to win has been the more difficult lesson. Fields will be in the spotlight for his Georgia homecoming as the Bears and Atlanta Falcons match strong running games - and deflating losing streaks - on Sunday. Fields, a native of the Atlanta suburb of Kennesaw, began his college career at Georgia before transferring to Ohio State. Fields' family had Falcons season tickets. He said his favorite Atlanta players were quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones. Fields didn't know how many of his friends and family members will attend the game. "I know my regular people are going - my mom, my dad," Fields said. "But of course, it's exciting, for sure. My goal really is just to go 1-0 this week and win the game down there." Fields, a 2021 first-round pick, has solidified his status as the Bears' franchise quarterback by leading the NFL's top rushing offense. He returns to Atlanta after rushing for a combined 325 yards the last two weeks, the highest two-game total by an NFL quarterback, surpassing the 268 two-game total by Baltimore's Lamar Jackson in 2019. Fields ran for 178 yards against Miami two weeks ago and added 147 in last week's 31-30 loss to Detroit. He will be the top priority for Atlanta's defense. |

11-19-22 | UL-Monroe +15 v. Troy | Top | 16-34 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 24 m | Show |
Louisiana-Monroe is coming off back-to-back wins after losing four straight games earlier in the season. Monroe defeated Texas State by 1-point and in their latest game, they went on the road to defeat Georgia State 31-28. The Warhawks defeated the Panthers in unconventional ways of scoring. Their first touchdown came in the second quarter off of a 23-yard blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown. Late in the fourth quarter, the Warhawks were trailing by five points, and they took a 34-yard interception to the house for a pick-six. The touchdown gave Monroe a 31-28 lead with 6-minutes to go in the game. Georgia State would be stopped on fourth down in their next two possessions to close out the game and give Monroe the victory. “Two good wins in a row and we won our first game on the road. We’ll enjoy this game tonight and then we’ll get on to Troy tomorrow," head coach Terry Bowden said following the win. |

11-19-22 | Indiana +11.5 v. Michigan State | Top | 39-31 | Win | 100 | 1 h 60 m | Show |
Indiana (3-7, 1-6) will look to snap a seven-game losing streak. The Hoosiers had the misfortune of facing Penn State and Ohio State on back-to-back weekends and got pummeled each time. It's uncertain whether Indiana will go with Connor Bazelak, who has started most of the season, or Dexter Williams II at quarterback this week. The Spartans have won 11 of the last 13 meetings with the Hoosiers. The winner will get the traditional trophy, the Old Brass Spittoon. "Not every program has the opportunity to play trophy games and rivalry games," Indiana coach Tom Allen said. "It's a great opportunity for us to play for the Brass Spittoon, a trophy we've had twice since I've been here and they currently have it right now. Much, much to play for." |

11-19-22 | Illinois +17.5 v. Michigan | Top | 17-19 | Win | 100 | 1 h 57 m | Show |
That matchup will feature two of the best backs in the country, as Chase Brown, the nation's leading rusher, spearheads the Fighting Illini (7-3, 4-3) offense in a showdown with Corum and Michigan. Brown rushed for 100-plus yards in 10 straight games, but was held to 98 last week in Illinois' 31-24 loss to Purdue. It was the first time the Illini lost back-to-back games this season. Brown went down on the sideline in the fourth quarter with a right leg injury and had to exit the game. Illinois coach Bret Bielema said Brown is working toward playing this week. "Very positive and excited, but don't know where we'll be by Friday for the trip and Saturday for the game," Bielema said. Bielema said that linebacker Seth Coleman has been cleared to practice. He entered the concussion protocol and was forced to miss the meeting with the Boilermakers. Coleman has 16 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season. |
|||||||
11-16-22 | Miami-OH +1.5 v. Northern Illinois | Top | 29-23 | Win | 100 | 3 h 29 m | Show |
Desperation can be a positive. Miami University is out of the MAC title hunt, but it’s still alive for a bowl game if it can win this and take out Ball State next week. To do that, it has to stop the Northern Illinois running game. The Huskies' offensive line has the ability to take over at times for a ground attack that averages close to 200 yards per game. Miami University wins when it holds up against the run, it has to get the passing game going, and it takes games over when it’s able to get its own rushing attack rolling, too. The RedHawks are 3-1 when they run for 200 yards |
|||||||
11-12-22 | Utah State v. Hawaii +11.5 | Top | 41-34 | Win | 100 | 30 h 26 m | Show |
Hawaii was on the road in their last game and had one to forget in a 55-13 blowout loss at the hands of Fresno State. They were down 31-0 at the half, were outgained 572 yards to 362 yards, and gave up 245 rushing yards. The Rainbow Warriors did not cover the spread despite being a 27.5-point underdog and they had covered in their previous four games. Even though they only have one MWC win this season they have covered six of their last seven conference games. |
|||||||
11-12-22 | Arizona v. UCLA -19.5 | Top | 34-28 | Loss | -110 | 30 h 7 m | Show |
No. 12 UCLA can run the ball, and Arizona has trouble stopping it. The teams' Saturday night matchup in Pasadena, Calif., might not get more complicated than that. The Bruins (8-1, 5-1 Pac-12) are seventh nationally and first in the conference in rushing yards per game (242.3), and they are coming off a 402-yard performance on the ground in a 50-36 road win over Arizona State, despite star running back Zach Charbonnet being unavailable due to injury. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson contributed 120 rushing yards, Kazmeir Allen rushed for 137 and Keegan Jones added 98. |
|||||||
11-12-22 | New Mexico +21.5 v. Air Force | Top | 3-35 | Loss | -110 | 23 h 4 m | Show |
It’s a battle of Mountain West opponents from the aptly named Mountain Division when New Mexico plays the Air Force. The Lobos (2-7, 0-5) dropped their sixth straight game, a 27-10 loss to Utah State and a loss ATS as 14.5 underdogs. The Falcons (6-3, 2-3) took the Commanders’ Classic, 13-7, over Army last week, but for their second straight loss, ATS barely missed as -7 favorites. Over three touchdowns is too much for a Falcons team that might be looking ahead. |
|||||||
11-12-22 | UL-Monroe v. Georgia State -13.5 | Top | 31-28 | Loss | -110 | 21 h 25 m | Show |
Louisiana Monroe is one of the worst defensive teams in the country, giving up 36.8 points per game. They gave up 30 points in their last game and will need to do a better job if they want to stay within the number. |
|||||||
11-12-22 | Vanderbilt +17.5 v. Kentucky | Top | 24-21 | Win | 100 | 19 h 9 m | Show |
If attaining bowl eligibility with last weekend's win over Missouri wasn't enough to keep complacency from becoming an issue with Kentucky, the Wildcats got another boost with Tuesday night's release of the latest College Football Playoff rankings. The Wildcats (6-3, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) will take a No. 24 CFP ranking into Saturday afternoon's matchup with Vanderbilt in Lexington, Ky. It is the second consecutive season the Wildcats have earned a spot in the CFP's Top 25. They finished No. 22 in last season's final pre-bowl poll. At his weekly media conference earlier in the day, coach Mark Stoops talked about the importance of a strong finish for his team. "With three games left in November, we still have to be relentless in our improvement," Stoops said. "We've got to finish strong. That old saying 'remember November' is no joke. You want to remember how you finish." The Wildcats will be going for their 40th win in the last five seasons when they open a three-game homestand against the Commodores (3-6, 0-5). Matchups against Georgia and Louisville will follow. An improbable sweep of all three would put the Wildcats in position for a second consecutive 10-win season, including a bowl game. |
|||||||
11-11-22 | Fresno State -9.5 v. UNLV | Top | 37-30 | Loss | -107 | 12 h 0 m | Show |
The Fresno State Bulldogs will try to continue their dominance over the UNLV Rebels when the teams meet in a Mountain West Conference game on Friday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs have won the last four matchups against the Rebels. The average score over those four games has been 46-22. Fresno State last lost to UNLV in October 2017, losing 26-16. The Bulldogs (5-4, 4-1 in MWC) enter this season's game tied atop the West Division. The Rebels (4-5, 2-3), who have lost four in a row, are in fourth place. Simply put, UNLV has run out of gas. |
|||||||
11-11-22 | Colorado v. USC -34 | Top | 17-55 | Win | 100 | 11 h 4 m | Show |
The USC defense has excelled at generating turnovers, boasting 18 through nine games. Coupled with Williams' savvy play at quarterback -- he has thrown 28 touchdown passes against one interception -- the Trojans enjoy the nation's best turnover margin at plus-16 for the season. Colorado (1-8, 1-5) will try to jump-start its struggling offense, which ranks worst among all Power Five conference teams and ahead of only Colorado State and Massachusetts in FBS scoring averages. The Buffs are producing 15.6 points per game, backsliding after a promising, 34-point effort in an Oct. 29 loss to Arizona State. Colorado managed 10 points in a 39-point loss to Oregon last week. The Buffs have never beaten USC in program history, a streak encompassing 15 games and dating back to 1927. Since Colorado joined the Pac-12 in 2011, the Trojans have won the 10 meetings by an average of 17.4 points per game -- though three of the last six were decided by four points or fewer. |

11-10-22 | Tulsa v. Memphis -6.5 | Top | 10-26 | Win | 100 | 14 h 2 m | Show |
Memphis will look to end a four-game losing streak when it hosts struggling Tulsa in American Athletic Conference play on Thursday. The Tigers (4-5, 2-4 AAC) are coming off a 35-28 loss to visiting UCF in which the No. 25 Knights broke open a tie game with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to deal Memphis its longest losing streak since 2013. Tulsa (3-6, 1-4) fell behind 17-3 midway through the second quarter and never recovered in a 27-13 loss at No. 19 Tulane. It was the Golden Hurricane's fifth defeat in their past six games. Memphis must win two of its final three games to be bowl-eligible for the ninth straight season, while the Golden Hurricane must win their final three games to qualify for the postseason for the third straight year. |
|||||||
11-05-22 | Auburn +13 v. Mississippi State | Top | 33-39 | Win | 100 | 9 h 50 m | Show |
Auburn interim coach Carnell "Cadillac" Williams will hope to salvage the Tigers' season, beginning with a game at slumping Mississippi State on Saturday night in Starkville, Miss. Williams, who was in his fourth season of coaching the Tigers' running backs, replaced Bryan Harsin after he was dismissed on Monday after less than two seasons on the job. "I truly believe Auburn has the potential to be a championship program once again," Harsin wrote in a statement on Tuesday. "The resources, financial support, and fan base are in place." The Tigers (3-5, 1-4 SEC), mired in a four-game losing streak, went 9-12 under Harsin, with losses in 10 of their past 13 games dating to last season. Mississippi State (5-3, 2-3) is coming off a 30-6 loss at then-No. 6 Alabama, the Bulldogs' second straight loss after opening the season 5-1. The Bulldogs and Tigers play contrasting styles of offense. |

11-05-22 | Texas -2.5 v. Kansas State | Top | 34-27 | Win | 100 | 8 h 21 m | Show |
Kansas State is coming off a historic victory. Now it's time to prove that it was not a fluke. The Wildcats, ranked No. 13 in the first College Football Playoff poll, defeated then-No. 9 Oklahoma State 48-0 last Saturday, the largest shutout ever over a top-10 team by a team lower in the rankings. It was the Wildcats' first victory over the Cowboys in Chris Klieman's four years as head coach. They'll face another squad Klieman hasn't defeated when No. 24 Texas comes to Manhattan, Kan. on Saturday for a primetime showdown. K-State (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) played exceptionally well against the Cowboys, and two Wildcats earned Big 12 player of the week honors. Quarterback Will Howard, who played for injured starter Adrian Martinez, earned offensive player of the week after going 21-of-37 for 296 passing yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Punter Ty Zentner was selected special teams player of the week after serving as punter, placekicker, and kickoff specialist. He hit both field goals and all six extra points, plus placed two of his four punts inside the 20 without a touchback. The defense shut out the Cowboys, who came into the game averaging 44.7 points per game, tied for third in the FBS. The last time the Cowboys were shut out was Nov. 28, 2009, when they were blanked by Oklahoma, 27-0. The Cowboys also were held to 217 yards of total offense, less than half their season average (466.9 yards per game). |

11-05-22 | Central Florida v. Memphis +3 | Top | 35-28 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 53 m | Show |
UCF just passed a pressure-packed test, one that coach Gus Malzahn admittedly would have preferred his team not have to take. Now the Knights, No. 25 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, have to prove they can win on the road. UCF (6-2, 3-1 American Athletic Conference) travels to Memphis (4-4, 2-3) on Saturday afternoon. The Knights are coming off a 25-21 home win over conference power Cincinnati, which was 20th in the AP poll a week ago and was a CFP playoff team last season. Leading 10-6 in the third quarter, UCF twice fumbled in the red zone. Those missed opportunities loomed large when they trailed 13-12 entering the fourth. Led by not-so-ordinary backup quarterback Mikey Keene, UCF capped a 77-yard drive with a touchdown with 4:36 left to take an 18-13 lead, surrendered a TD and two-point conversion about 1 1/2 minutes later and trailed 21-18, then responded again with RJ Harvey's 17-yard scoring run with 48 seconds left. |

11-05-22 | South Florida v. Temple +3.5 | Top | 28-54 | Win | 100 | 3 h 14 m | Show |
Temple and South Florida are the only teams yet to win a game in American Athletic Conference play this season. Off to 0-4 starts in league play, Temple and USF are hoping to emerge with the elusive AAC victory when the teams convene Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. Temple (2-6, 0-4 AAC) has dropped conference games to Memphis, Central Florida, Tulsa, and Navy. The Owls absorbed a 70-13 loss to UCF on Oct. 13, took an early 10-point lead in a 27-16 loss at Tulsa, and succumbed in overtime during last week's 27-20 loss to Navy. Amad Anderson Jr. caught a 20-yard touchdown for the Owls and finished with eight receptions for 114 yards. E.J. Warner, the son of Kurt Warner, completed 24 of 48 passes for 268 yards and was intercepted twice. Perhaps the most encouraging sign came from the defense's showing against the Navy's triple-option. The Owls conceded 224 yards from scrimmage -- well below Navy's 370 yards per game entering last week. |

11-05-22 | Marshall -3.5 v. Old Dominion | Top | 12-0 | Win | 100 | 3 h 9 m | Show |
Nearly four months later, they’re still coming one at a time. When the Monarchs host Marshall at 2 p.m. Saturday, they don’t plan to look past nightfall. That’s when time and football will tell whether ODU (3-5, 2-2 Sun Belt) will have taken an important step toward bowl eligibility or whether an already uphill climb will have grown steeper. After Saturday, the Monarchs will face James Madison, Appalachian State, and South Alabama — all teams with records above .500. But Rahne, true to form, remains singularly focused on the Thundering Herd (4-4, 1-3) with three wins needed to make the postseason. |

10-13-22 | Temple v. Central Florida -23 | Top | 13-70 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show |
The Owls have been awful on offense but have played tremendous defense. This team lost 24-3 at Memphis last time out on Oct. 1, and it has been outscored 54-3 in a pair of road games while going 0-2 ATS. The offense ranks just 125th with 282.8 total yards per game. The Knights have scored 27 or more points in 3 straight games, and 4 of 5 games overall. The defense has been tremendous, however, allowing 20 or fewer points in all 5 outings and the Under has hit in 4 in a row. |
|||||||
10-10-22 | Raiders +7 v. Chiefs | Top | 29-30 | Win | 100 | 16 h 14 m | Show |
The Raiders have been playing in close games lately, with their last nine games all decided by a single-digit margin (including playoffs). That's one shy of tying the franchise record of 10 straight, done twice (1975-76 and 1998-99).

10-09-22 | Giants +9 v. Packers | Top | 27-22 | Win | 100 | 66 h 19 m | Show |
Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur has done the London trip twice before as an offensive coordinator and "didn't leave the hotel either time." Safe to say he'd prefer star quarterback Aaron Rodgers - a Manchester City fan - not try to venture north for the Premier League champion's home game Saturday (though Rodgers could satisfy his soccer fix Friday night when the U.S. women's team faces European champion England in a friendly at Wembley Stadium). The Packers' schedule for their first-ever international regular-season game doesn't leave much time for sightseeing. Same goes for the New York Giants (3-1). Both teams are scheduled to arrive in the British capital Friday morning ahead of Sunday's game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Rodgers, a four-time MVP, had hoped the Packers (3-1) would arrive earlier in the week "to experience a little bit of that culture" but he knows ultimately it's a business trip - a long-awaited one at that. |

10-06-22 | Colts +3.5 v. Broncos | Top | 12-9 | Win | 100 | 10 h 23 m | Show |
Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan can sure feel each other's pain. None of the nine NFL teams that changed quarterbacks this season has a winning record heading into October. Two of them square off Thursday night when Ryan's beleaguered Indianapolis Colts (1-2-1) visit Wilson's banged-up Denver Broncos (2-2). Both QBs have found a rough transition to their new teams and both are missing key offensive and defensive players on a short week. Ryan has eight turnovers in four games, has been sacked 15 times and fumbled nine times in his first season since leaving Atlanta. Wilson is off to the slowest start of his career with just four TD passes in his first season out of Seattle. New surroundings, new teammates, new terminology are all hurdles that even former MVPs such as Ryan or Super Bowl winners such as Wilson have to overcome. |

10-03-22 | Rams v. 49ers | Top | 9-24 | Win | 100 | 30 h 36 m | Show |
The stakes will be far lower when the Los Angeles Rams visit the San Francisco 49ers for the third meeting between the teams this calendar year. The intensity is always high when these NFC West rivals meet. Ever since good friends Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan took over as coaches in Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2017, the franchises have used each other as measuring sticks. That will be no different on Monday night when the Rams (2-1) visit the 49ers (1-2). "A lot of these games over the last couple of years have been deciding factors for playoff seeding, home-field advantage, obviously an NFC championship thrown into the mix. So they've always had a huge level of importance," Niners right tackle Mike McGlinchey said. "We know each other very well. It's been a lot of the same core guys down there, it's been a lot of the same core guys up here. So it's always a fun battle." The Rams have had better team success with four playoff berths, two Super Bowl appearances and the title last season. The Niners have had the edge in the head-to-head battle, winning the past six regular-season matchups, including a Week 18 game last January that got them into the playoffs. But the Rams got their revenge a few weeks later when they beat San Francisco 20-17 in the NFC title game on the way to their Super Bowl victory. "We could talk about all those different games, but I think at the end of the day what it boils down to is they've played well, they've made the plays in crunch time," McVay said. "I think the ultimate thing that's really important for us is each game is its own separate entity. ... But we know that this game is going to be different than the other ones. We've got to be able to show up, and play well in that three-hour window. That's what our focus and concentration will be solely focused on. No different than when we had to play them for the third time last year." JIMMY BOUNCEBACK Garoppolo's first start after Trey Lance went down with a season-ending ankle injury for San Francisco turned out to be a dud. Instead of building off a promising relief appearance in Week 2, Garoppolo looked rusty after no offseason work and showed the flaws that led the Niners to make the big move to acquire Lance last season. He missed on a few chances at big plays in the first half, then turned it over twice in the second half, as well as stepping out of the end zone for a safety in the 11-10 loss to Denver. |

10-02-22 | Bills v. Ravens +3.5 | Top | 23-20 | Win | 100 | 25 h 43 m | Show |
The Ravens lost their first home game versus the Bills (13-10 on Halloween in 1999) but they're 5-0 against them in Baltimore since then, holding Buffalo to seven or fewer points four times, including the most recent game, a 47-3 Ravens win in the 2018 season opener.

09-30-22 | Tulane v. Houston -2.5 | Top | 27-24 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 1 m | Show |
Houston tries to weed out problems in meeting with Tulane Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen is looking for an all-around improvement from his Cougars, and not all of it has to do with them splitting the first four games of the season. After starting the campaign ranked No. 24, the season started on a high note for Houston, after beating UTSA 37-35 in three overtimes. But now, it there may be tension within the program. The Cougars (2-2) will look to sort out some of those problems when they host American Athletic Conference foe Tulane (3-1) Friday night in the conference opener. In his fourth year at Houston's helm, Holgorsen has become frustrated with his squad. |
|||||||
09-26-22 | Cowboys v. Giants | Top | 23-16 | Loss | -125 | 14 h 36 m | Show |
The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are going to renew their NFC East rivalry on Monday night, -and this one might be an indication of whether the times are changing. The Cowboys, the defending division champions, have owned the Giants the last five years. The teams have played 10 times and Dallas has won nine. This season has gotten off to an interesting start, though. Dallas has split two games and saw quarterback Dak Prescott undergo thumb surgery after the season opener. How long the star quarterback will be sidelined is uncertain, but Cooper Rush will be running the offense against the surprising Giants. New York, which won four games last year, is halfway to that total after knocking off Tennessee and Carolina in Brian Daboll's first two games as coach. Beating Dallas in a nationally televised game would be another step toward respectability after five straight losing seasons. |

09-25-22 | 49ers v. Broncos +2 | Top | 10-11 | Win | 100 | 10 h 36 m | Show |
The only difference the San Francisco 49ers see in longtime nemesis Russell Wilson isn't in his game but his gear. "It's so weird seeing him in a new uniform," linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair said. "But he's the same exact guy." Kyle Shanahan thinks so, too. "I see the same stuff I've seen going against him in Seattle for the last 10 years. (It's just that) they've just come up short on a couple of touchdowns there," said San Francisco's coach, who brings a 2-8 record against Wilson into Sunday night's showdown between the 49ers (1-1) and Broncos (1-1). Shanahan pointed to Wilson's 35-yard fourth-quarter dart to Courtland Sutton on third-and-16 last week as evidence the 33-year-old QB still has it. |
|||||||
09-25-22 | Jaguars +3.5 v. Chargers | Top | 38-10 | Win | 100 | 5 h 27 m | Show |
There's plenty to like about a matchup between quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert. Not only are they at the top of the list for the league's best hair, but both are the leaders of their respective franchises. The biggest question, though, going into Sunday's matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers is if they will face each other for the first time. Herbert is listed as questionable after not practicing Friday and being limited Wednesday and Thursday due to fractured rib cartilage. The injury happened after he took a hit from Kansas City's Michael Danna during the fourth quarter of last Thursday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs. After not making any passes Wednesday, Herbert took his normal amount of throws Thursday during the individual session of practice open to reporters. If he plays, Herbert will wear a rib protector, but could also receive an injection to deal with the pain. Herbert's status will likely not be fully resolved until Sunday morning. |

09-24-22 | Central Michigan v. Penn State -28 | Top | 14-33 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 34 m | Show |
After an eye-opening performance on the road, the big question for No. 14 Penn State is how much of an emotional letdown there may be. The Nittany Lions (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten) turned in one of the most impressive performances of the young season last week with a 41-12 road win at SEC foe Auburn, but now must refocus for a game against a Group of Five opponent when Central Michigan visits University Park, Pa., for a noon kickoff on Saturday. Of all the things that stood out for Penn State in the win at Auburn, maybe the most noticeable was the way the Nittany Lions ran the ball. Penn State struggled with its offensive line play and running game last year, but completely controlled Auburn's defensive line, rushing for 245 yards on 6.3 per carry. True freshman Nicholas Singleton was the biggest beneficiary of Penn State's improved line play, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Freshman Kaytron Allen, sophomore Keyvone Lee and junior Devyn Ford have flanked Singleton in what is a deep group of running backs for Penn State. "We're getting better up front and at tight end," Penn State head coach James Franklin said after the game. "We're doing some things speed-wise to help them. The ability to be more balanced and take pressure off the passing game, I think it's been really important for us. We also have some dynamic backs that help create some explosive plays." Penn State's offense has averaged more than 40 points a game to start the season. |

09-22-22 | Steelers v. Browns -4 | Top | 17-29 | Win | 100 | 6 h 48 m | Show |
For the first time since 2004, Ben Roethlisberger isn't part of the Steelers-Browns rivalry, a matchup the Ohio-born-and-bred quarterback dominated for 18 seasons and will now watch with everyone else. On Thursday night, Mitch Trubisky makes his debut in one of the NFL's fiercest feuds. A second appearance isn't guaranteed. Struggling to connect with Pittsburgh's receivers, Trubisky, chosen as the starter in training camp over rookie quarterback-in-waiting Kenny Pickens, may look to take some deep shots downfield when the Steelers (1-1) visit a Browns team still reeling from an epic collapse in their home opener on Sunday. Trubisky is ranked 32nd in yards per attempt, one of several troubling stats for him after just two games and perhaps a reflection on the 28-year-old being more of a game manager than game changer. Still, Trubisky, who grew up in Northeast Ohio but was never particularly keen on the Browns (1-1), is confident he'll soon begin hooking up with Pittsburgh's talented, but to this point underused, receivers. |

09-22-22 | West Virginia -2.5 v. Virginia Tech | Top | 33-10 | Win | 100 | 5 h 11 m | Show |
West Virginia (1-2) ignited its offense by scoring on all 10 of its possessions (nine touchdowns, one field goal) in a 65-7 romp over FCS foe Towson on Saturday. Freshman CJ Donaldson found the end zone on three occasions during the first half, including an 82-yard scamper down the sideline. He has rushed for 274 yards and six touchdowns in three games this season. Fellow running back Tony Mathis Jr. scored two first-half touchdowns on Saturday before finishing with 104 yards on 17 carries. |

09-18-22 | Bears +11 v. Packers | Top | 10-27 | Loss | -128 | 7 h 46 m | Show |
After spending the last three seasons looking up at the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North standings, the Chicago Bears head into Lambeau Field in an unusual position. The Bears (1-0) lead the Packers (0-1) in the division race for the first time since 2018, when Chicago last earned the NFC North title. The Packers have won the NFC North every year since and are 6-0 against the Bears during that stretch. Chicago would love to take a two-game edge over the three-time defending division champions by winning Sunday night. Even with the Bears coming off a win and the Packers coming off a loss, Green Bay is a 9 1/2-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. |
|||||||
09-18-22 | Texans +10 v. Broncos | Top | 9-16 | Win | 100 | 3 h 1 m | Show |
Texans coach Lovie Smith had some rather recent game film to review as he developed his defensive game plan for Sunday - Wilson led the Seahawks to a 33-13 win at Houston last December. "Experience of being in that situation, of seeing him on the other side, game planning for him, it doesn't matter where you are, the person doesn't change a lot," Smith said. "Maybe some of the calls have. I see a similar offensive attack when we played the Seahawks last year. Nowadays, quarterbacks have a big say in what teams do, especially guys that have been around the game for a while." Wilson didn't have much of a say in how things ended Monday night in Seattle, and he vowed to speak up next time Hackett considers taking the ball out of his hands in a game-defining moment. "(I) always trust his decisions and everything else, but I'm also always ready to go try to do it if we need to," Wilson said. Either way, the Broncos insist they've moved on. The Broncos will be without Justin Simmons for the first time since 2017 after the star safety injured a thigh in the opener. Second-year pro-Caden Sterns replaces the ironman who has started 66 consecutive games. The Texans got big contributions from two new faces in Week 1. D-lineman Jerry Hughes, who spent the last nine seasons in Buffalo, had two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in a 20-20 tie with Indianapolis. O.J. Howard, who signed Sept. 2 after his release by the Bills, became the third tight end in NFL history to catch a pair of TD passes in his first game with his new team. |

09-17-22 | Fresno State v. USC -10.5 | Top | 17-45 | Win | 100 | 10 h 28 m | Show |
Seventh-ranked USC returns home to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday for a nonconference game against Mountain West Conference favorite Fresno State. The Trojans (2-0) continued to dazzle offensively early into first-year head coach Lincoln Riley's tenure last week at Stanford -- at least, in the first half. USC scored five first-half touchdowns of the Pac-12 Conference opener but managed a pair of field goals in the second half against the Cardinal. It marked the second time in as many games that the Trojans did not have to punt until the fourth quarter of a blowout win. Quarterback Caleb Williams went 20-for-27 for 341 yards with four more touchdown passes, giving him six for the season to go with the team's five rushing touchdowns and three field goals. His performance earned Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week. Jordan Addison has four of those touchdown receptions among his 12 catches for an average of 113.0 yards a game. The Trojans offense cooled off, however, and Stanford pushed around the USC defense for 221 yards on a 441-yard day of total offense. Yet, the SC defense stiffened in the red zone, forcing two turnovers inside the 3-yard line. |
|||||||
09-15-22 | Chargers +4 v. Chiefs | Top | 24-27 | Win | 100 | 5 h 48 m | Show |
The Kansas City Chiefs have taken on an almost unbeatable air in the AFC West over the past six years, not only winning the division each time but losing just six games total against some of their longest-standing rivals. Except when it comes to the Los Angeles Chargers. They've showed no fear in splitting their past four meetings with Kansas City, including a win in Arrowhead Stadium last season. And after making a series of offseason moves - like signing Khalil Mack, who had three of their five sacks in their opener against the Raiders - designed to deal with Patrick Mahomes and rest of the Chiefs' dynamic offense, the Chargers have every reason to be confident about facing the Chiefs again on Thursday night. |
|||||||
01-23-22 | Rams v. Bucs -2.5 | Top | 30-27 | Loss | -115 | 5 h 40 m | Show |
Tampa Bay has speed at every level of the defense and Stafford will have to ensure he doesn't let his guard down as Tampa Bay's quickness can ignite turnovers in a hurry. There are still questions about the health of left tackle Andrew Withworth’s ankle, so the play-action passes will likely be a vital part of the gameplan for Stafford's passing attack. |
|||||||
10-09-21 | New Mexico +19.5 v. San Diego State | Top | 7-31 | Loss | -105 | 12 h 56 m | Show |
So what went right in the 30-3 loss to UTEP? Not much, but the defense was able to clamp down a bit in the second half, LB Trevor Brohard turned in a nice day, and … That was about it. However, the Aggies got in a few games of work in the spring and have a date under its belt before dealing with San Diego State in a strange off-campus location while the new Aztec Stadium is being built. This remains a San Diego State team that might have to find a consistently dangerous offense, it’s not going to be in familiar surroundings |
|||||||
10-09-21 | Utah +3 v. USC | Top | 42-26 | Win | 100 | 11 h 20 m | Show |
It’s been a rough, rough run for the Utes – more on that in a moment – but football-wise, the team has been off for a few weeks after a desperately needed 24-13 win over Washington State. The running game started to kick it all in against the Cougars with a season-high 219 yards. This week it has to pound and pound some more against a USC defensive front that’s been fine against the mediocre but failed against the Oregon State ground attack. It’s a horribly inconsistent Trojan team – which you might expect considering the early season coaching change – with way too many penalties, not enough defensive plays behind the line, and too many turnovers. The three against Washington State made it tough early, and the four against Oregon State were devastating. Utah is 2-0 when it comes up with multiple takeaways, and 0-2 when it doesn’t |
|||||||
10-09-21 | East Carolina v. Central Florida -10 | Top | 16-20 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 7 m | Show |
The UCF offense might not be the high-powered fun show it’s supposed to be, but it still has the running game to control things against the struggling ECU defensive front. Being back at home should matter. This is a much different team in the Bounce House, Keene and the offense should be a wee bit sharper after getting a game out of the way with Gabriel out, and the offensive balance should be there to take control of the game. |
|||||||
10-09-21 | Virginia +2.5 v. Louisville | Top | 34-33 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
The Louisville pass defense isn’t a total disaster, but it’s the worst in the ACC. To be fair, playing Ole Miss, UCF, and Wake Forest had something to do with that, but Florida State was able to throw for 248 yards, too. Welcome to Virginia. This isn’t the slow-and-stodgy Cavalier team we’re all used to. QB Brennan Armstrong and the passing game are bombing away with close to 2,000 yards in the first five games and now it’s time to crank up. Louisville isn’t doing enough against the run, either – the overall D is the worst in the ACC – and the Cavs proved in the win over Miami that it could be a bit balanced, too. |
|||||||
10-08-21 | Charlotte v. Florida International +3.5 | Top | 45-33 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 30 m | Show |
The passing game has perked up. It was fine over the first part of the season, and despite the losses over the last two weeks on the road, the offense cranked up close to 400 yards through the air against Central Michigan and 319 in last week’s loss to Florida Atlantic. Former Maryland starter Max Bortenschlager has settled in, and the 1-2 receiving punch of Tyrese Chambers and Bryce Singleton are making big play after big play. |
|||||||
10-03-21 | Ravens v. Broncos -1 | Top | 23-7 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 45 m | Show |
The Ravens offense has led the way this season but the defense has struggled, allowing 28.3 runs per game and 331.7 passing yards per game. Linebacker Patrick Queen has been the force in the middle of the defense with 23 tackles and a sack while Chuck Clark, Marlon Humphrey, and Anthony Avrett have been leading the secondary combining for eight passes defended and 49 tackles but the rest of the defense has struggled. The front of the Ravens defense is failing to pressure opposing quarterbacks aside from Odafe Oweh who has a sack and four QB hits while the secondary is still trying to replace all-pro corner Marcus Peters, who is out for the season with an injury. |
|||||||
10-03-21 | Cardinals +4 v. Rams | Top | 37-20 | Win | 100 | 2 h 35 m | Show |
This has the feel of a competitive game where the Rams win, but Arizona covers. The Cardinals have lost by double digits in seven of the last eight meetings. This game could illustrate how far they’ve come, but how they aren’t quite there yet. That seems to be what the respected bettors believe based on the line movement. |
|||||||
10-02-21 | Baylor +4.5 v. Oklahoma State | Top | 14-24 | Loss | -114 | 11 h 8 m | Show |
There’s the Baylor win we were all waiting for in the Dave Aranda era. 2020 was supposed to be a total rebuild, and beating Texas State, Texas Southern, and Kansas was no big deal to start 2021. Baylor 31, Iowa State 29, and now the program is 4-0 with a chance to make an even bigger splash. The offense might not have rolled against the Cyclones, but the D held firm and the O made the most of every opportunity. Forget the overall stats – again, look at Baylor’s first three games – but the passing game really is efficient enough to at least keep the chains moving. |
|||||||
10-02-21 | Texas Tech +7 v. West Virginia | Top | 23-20 | Win | 100 | 8 h 31 m | Show |
The passing game still works. The Red Raider offense lost QB Tyler Shough to a collarbone injury in the loss to Texas, but Henry Colombi is a veteran who can run a big and threw for 324 yards and three scores with big play after big play. Yeah, it was a 70-35 loss and the Longhorns started to take it easy, but Texas Tech still managed over 500 yards for the second straight week. Last week’s game was rough, but the Red Raiders have a veteran defense that’s far better than it plays, allowing fewer than 300 yards in two of the three games before the debacle in Austin. West Virginia doesn’t have the passing game to keep up in a game like this if Colombi and company get hot early. |
|||||||
10-02-21 | Bowling Green v. Kent State -16 | Top | 20-27 | Loss | -118 | 7 h 23 m | Show |
The Kent State team continues to play with confidence. After the corner turned late last year, all of a sudden, it was as if the light went on. The offense started to click, the FlashFast style made sense, and it all started to roll. Against Eastern Michigan – a 27-23 win – the offense was almost perfectly balanced with 219 passing yards and 212 on the ground, and now it gets to go against a Bowling Green defense that got destroyed by Toledo for over 300 rushing yards and 200 through the air. |
|||||||
10-02-21 | Eastern Michigan v. Northern Illinois | Top | 20-27 | Win | 100 | 7 h 49 m | Show |
Why are the Huskies 2-2? They’re getting great play from the offensive front. They’re not allowing sacks, they’re pounding away for a ground game that hit the 160-yard mark in every game and averages 216 yards per outing. The Eastern Michigan defensive front couldn’t hold up against Wisconsin, but it gave up over 200 yards against UMass, too. The Huskies should be able to run enough to throw the Eagles off of their game. |
|||||||
10-01-21 | BYU v. Utah State +9.5 | Top | 34-20 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 42 m | Show |
Utah State might have screwed up a bit too much – and it only scored three points – but the offensive punch was there. The Aggies remained almost perfectly balanced – they’re a 200-yard rushing/200-yard passing machine – with the 443 yards put up against the Broncos just fine. They just couldn’t translate the effort into points. |
|||||||
10-01-21 | Houston v. Tulsa -3 | Top | 45-10 | Loss | -120 | 5 h 22 m | Show |
The Golden Hurricane got stuffed by Ohio State, but the 308 yards against Arkansas State helped control the game in a 41-34 win. Yes, the Houston pass defense has been statically great, but it’s about to deal with Davis Brin, who’s averaging over 300 yards per game with five scoring passes in the last two games. Houston might have a steady O over the last few games against inferior competition, but will the downfield passing game be there? The O line is having problems keeping defenses out of the backfield and the attack has yet to prove it can blow up. |
|||||||
09-30-21 | Virginia +6 v. Miami-FL | Top | 30-28 | Win | 100 | 15 h 47 m | Show |
The Hurricanes (2-2) open their ACC schedule Thursday night against Virginia (2-2), and will be facing the national leader in passing yards per game so far this season. The Cavaliers’ Brennan Armstrong is averaging 426 yards per game, and though it’s early, only seven quarterbacks in FBS history have ever finished a season averaging more. Miami’s starter remains a murky proposition. D’Eriq King’s shoulder injury is improving, but the Hurricanes still are expected to start either Tyler Van Dyke or Jake Garcia |
