06-22-16 | Italy v. Republic of Ireland +243 | 0-1 | Win | 243 | 6 h 40 m | Show
Italy v Republic of Ireland I actually fancy the Irish to spring a surprise in this one tonight and I do have good reason for believing that. Italy will not be putting out their best side, no way, they have FIVE players on a yellow card and will not want to risk too many of them in a game that is sure to be full of passion and vigour. Ireland will go all out for the win, they have to if they want to qualify, a draw is simply no good and of course neither is a loss, they are organised and on their day can match most teams. I am not a fan of Italy at all, they are tedious to watch and employ rope a dope tactics, that works for only so long, they are not as good as their results suggest and a weakened Italian team will struggle against a passionate confident Irish side. I am taking Ireland to win this one. |
06-22-16 | Hungary v. Portugal -1 | 3-3 | Loss | -130 | 3 h 46 m | Show
Hungary v Portugal Portugal simply have to win this and despite their weak performances so far I do expect them to emerge the winners. Portugal are a one man team, there is no way of avoiding that fact, they are a bunch of average players all focused on supplying one man, that has been their undoing for years now and I do not expect them to get anywhere near the final, but they are good enough to beat the Hungarians, who themselves have defied expectations. But the truth is that the Hungarians are a poor team, they have done well to date, there is no denying that but even an unbalanced mentally weak Portugal side reliant on one man is enough to inflict a defeat on the Magyars. All things considered I am taking Portugal to win this one, to cover the spread and qualify. |
06-22-16 | Iceland v. Austria +119 | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 45 m | Show
Iceland v Austria I am going for the Austrians in this one, they were expected to qualify before the tournament started and they have been both unlucky and poor, I expect them to put the latter part right this evening. Iceland are decent enough but they are very limited, they will put in their usual organised performance but their result against Hungary and even their result against Portugal showed their limitations. The bottom line is this, I think we have seen the best that Iceland can offer but we have not seen the best of Austria, I am confident we will tonight and the best of Austria is better than the best of Iceland. All things considered I am going for an Austrian win. |
06-21-16 | Czech Republic v. Turkey +230 | 0-2 | Win | 230 | 8 h 32 m | Show
Czech Republic v Turkey Based on the performances so far you would have to plump for the Czech Republic, but I am not so sure that this will be the case tonight. The Turks are not one of the best teams that is for sure, in fact they are rather poor, but they are better than what their results have shown so far in this competition and I do expect them to put in a better performance today. The Czechs must win if they are to have any chance of qualifying, but I do not think they are that good a side, I thought they were very lucky against Croatia and while their performances have been better than the Turks so far, I do not see much improvement in them, I do with Turkey. If the Czechs win then they will probably make the next stage, if Turkey win then they stand a remote chance of qualifying for the next round, a draw eliminates both, so the stakes are very high for both teams. I am going for a Turkish win in this one, I just feel they have more chance of an improvement, I do not believe the Czechs are that much better, if at all. The Turks will have more passion and stated above are more likely to improve and they will not have to improve by too much to beat the Czech Republic. All things considered I am backing a Turkish win. |
06-21-16 | Ukraine v. Poland -0.5 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 5 h 39 m | Show
Ukraine v Poland Poland should really emerge the victors in this Group C game at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille later today. Ukraine were hopeless against Northern Ireland and surely cannot play worse, but even if they manage to improve on that dismal performance I do not see it being enough against a very well organised Poland. Poland showed against Germany what they are capable of and if they put in that sort of performance again today they will win. Ukraine would have to win and hope Northern Ireland get thrashed against Germany to claim third and hold an outside chance of making the next round, in better words they are almost certainly out and I can see their heads dropping if the Poles grab the first goal. Poland have momentum and in Robert Lewandowski they have one of the best strikers in the world and I am very confident that once the dust settles Poland will have won this game. |
06-21-16 | Northern Ireland v. Germany -1.5 | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 37 m | Show
Northern Ireland v Germany Northern Ireland have done really well so far, their win over Ukraine was brilliant and they are full of confidence, but I am sad to say that I believe they have reached their limits and will find Germany one step too far. The Germans took some stick from the German media and fans for drawing against Poland and they will be looking to get back to winning ways today, they have to really, otherwise a rot could set in that the world champions will find difficult to get out of. The truth is that Germany are world champions and Northern Ireland are very limited, they may be organised and have a gritty determination, but they are up against one of the best football teams on the planet and they will find that out the hard way later today. Whatever way I look at this, I see a convincing German win and fully expect them to cover the spread. |
06-20-16 | Russia v. Wales +193 | 0-3 | Win | 193 | 9 h 19 m | Show
Russia v Wales I do not see Russia getting anything at all from this game and there is one simple reason why that is, they are simply not as good as Wales. Wales are seen as a one man team, but that is unfair, sure, Gareth Bale is proper world class, but they have other top players in their side including Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey and Liverpool's Joe Allen. This Russian team is poor, there is no getting away from the cold hard fact, they are mediocre at best and if it was not for a lucky last minute goal against England they would be on zero points and even that is more than what they deserve. This game for me is a win for Wales, they are simply the better team and will show that clearly this evening. Wales win |
06-20-16 | Slovakia v. England -113 | 0-0 | Loss | -113 | 9 h 18 m | Show
Slovakia v England It is a bit worrying to hear that England will be rotating their team tonight, but they should still have enough about them to defeat a decent Slovakia side. This will not be an easy game for England, Slovakia have a lot to play for and they are not that bad a side, they are lead incredibly well by Hamsik, who is a genuine top class player. But the truth is that the Slovakian's are not a team full of top talent, they are very reliant on Hamsik and will struggle to get anything from this game. England will do what they must to contain Hamsik, but Slovakia will have their hands full trying to contain the many England talented England players on display. I do expect an England win, not by a lot, but a win regardless. |
06-19-16 | Sporting Kansas City +125 v. FC Dallas | 2-0 | Win | 125 | 8 h 0 m | Show
Sporting KC v Dallas On current form you would have to favour Dallas to get the win today, however I am not so sure that will be the case. Neither team has been dramatically hit with international absences and so that should not make much of a difference and therefore this should be a genuine competitive match up. What I have noticed is that despite form and such like, that the home team tends to emerge the winner and I can see that happening here. While Kansas are not in great form they are not in free fall either, they have lost 50% of their games, but that is it, they have won 5 times this season and drawn three times, losing 8, point is that while that is not fantastic, it is not the end of the world either. Dallas have won 50% of their games, so while they are currently doing better than Kansas they are not sweeping all before them. Bottom line is that I fancy a home win here and that is my pick. |
06-19-16 | Romania v. Albania OVER 2 | 0-1 | Loss | -127 | 6 h 4 m | Show
Romaniav Albania Another very tricky game, both simply have to win as a third place spot remains a possibility, especially for Romania, a draw will see both sides eliminated. Nether side is good enough in my opinion to be able to hold out for 90 mins without conceding, so, if Romania were to score first I cannot see them defending that until the final whistle, the same applies to Albania. So, if you accept that both have to win and that their defences are suspect it really leaves only one conclusion and that is overs. That is how I see this game playing out, I see both scoring and a winner emerging, who that is I do not know, it could be either, but I do expect a winner to emerge and goals to be scored. Over 2 goals |
06-19-16 | Switzerland v. France | 0-0 | Win | 186 | 6 h 2 m | Show
Switzerland v France Not as easy to call as it appears on paper, it would be easy to plump for France, they are at home, they have won both games, but the truth is that they have not been convincing and only need a draw to top the group. On the other hand you have Switzerland who have not been convincing at all either and they also need just a point to qualify for certain to the next round. So we have two teams that will be satisfied with a draw, yet one is clearly better than the other but has hardly shown it. Nerves and risk play a part when these sort of situations develop and you cannot expect either team to go all out for a win, if they did that would mean leaving the defence exposed and neither side will do that. All things considered I am going for a draw in this one, it suits both teams and I just cannot see either of them risking it all for a win. |
06-18-16 | CHILE +205 v. Mexico | 7-0 | Win | 205 | 14 h 28 m | Show
Mexico v Chile This is a game to look forward to, two evenly matched teams that are very motivated to win this and not just the game, but the overall tournament. Chile have made hard work of their defence of the Copa America and will be relieved to be in the quarter finals, it was a close run thing, the Mexicans appeared to do it a bit more comfortably and will be full of confidence, probably more than the Chileans. That said, I have supported the Chileans throughout, not as a fan but as a bettor, simply because I honestly feel they are a top team capable of beating almost any team, but they have not been easy to watch that is for sure. I am sticking with Chile, I do feel they are slightly better than Mexico and expect them to come out on top in a close game. |
06-18-16 | Venezuela v. Argentina -1.5 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 28 m | Show
Argentina v Venezuela This game looks a bit of a mismatch and come the final whistle I expect the result to bare that out. Argentina are a genuine world class team, Venezuela are not, the Argentine's cruised into this round while Venezuela were rather fortunate. Whatever way I look at this game I cannot see anything other than a convincing Argentine win, they simply have far too many world class players for the Venezuelans to cope with. The spread has been set quite high but I expect the Argentine's to cover it and probably easily. Take Argentina -1.5 goals |
06-18-16 | Iceland +175 v. Hungary | 1-1 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 25 m | Show
Iceland v Hungary Hungary did very well to defeat Austria, they were not favourites at all to win that game, they were quite big underdogs, but showed they are not in France to make up the numbers. Iceland also did very well drawing with Portugal and just like the Hungarians they were not expected to get anything from their opening game and they also showed that they must be taken seriously. I take the Icelanders to win this game, the Hungarians are quite poor despite beating Austria and I do expect Iceland to dominate this game for most part. Iceland had the better form overall entering this tournament and if these two were drawn to play each other in the first game then they would have been fairly big favourites over the Hungarians, the odds have narrowed simply because the Hungarians beat Austria, but it does not alter the fact that Iceland are actually the better team. Iceland to win |
06-18-16 | Belgium -110 v. Republic of Ireland | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 1 h 27 m | Show
Belgium v Republic of Ireland I take Belgium to recover from their opening game defeat against Italy and beat the plucky Irish. Belgium's biggest problem is that they are unbalanced, they are a team of some excellent players and some poor players, they also have too many individuals, however, when they click they are capable of beating any team on the planet. Ireland will be hard to beat, they will be organised and they will put up a staunch defence, however they will spend most of the game in their own half and will struggle to keep Belgium at bay for the entire 90 minutes. It would be nice to see Ireland get something from this game, but I simply do not see that happening and take Belgium to win. |
06-17-16 | Colombia -1 v. Peru | 0-0 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 11 m | Show
Peru v Colombia I take Colombia to win this game, I simply do not rate Peru and do not think they are good enough to be competitive. I have seen all the Copa America games and I saw Peru beat Brazil, they were very very lucky, they scored with a handball, it was a disgraceful decision to award them the goal and were lucky to be playing a Brazilian side that lacked leadership and vision. The Peruvians only managed to beat Haiti 1-0 and that result alone tells you the level of their game, Haiti are not a good team by any stretch of the imagination, they did do well against Ecuador it must be said, however, that was their high point, do not be fooled by the win over Brazil, play that game another 10 times and they would lose every time. Colombia are far better than Peru, that is the reality, they had already qualified when they lost to Costa Rica and they showed against the USA in the opening game how clinical they can be, they do their jobs efficiently and I expect that to be the case this evening. I am very confident that Colombia will win this game and that they will cover the spread. |
06-17-16 | Spain -1 v. Turkey | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 12 h 6 m | Show
Spain v Turkey I cannot see anything other than a Spain win today and I will be backing the Spanish to win this game convincingly. Turkey were outplayed against Croatia and their limitations at this level were exposed for all to see, the fact that they struggled against the Croatians does not bode well for them today against Spain. Spain should have won by more against the Czech Republic, they really made hard work of the task, the Czechs did defend in numbers but for a team of Spain's abilities it was a performance that could only be considered sub standard, yet they still won. The spread has been set high, but I am very confident that the Spanish have enough about them to win this game by at least a couple of goals. |
06-17-16 | Czech Republic v. Croatia +102 | 2-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 8 m | Show
Czech Republic v Croatia This could be a good game with two teams that can play some free flowing entertaining football, but it is Croatia that I believe will emerge victorious come the final whistle. The Croatians were unlucky to just beat Turkey 1-0, they could have won by far more and I do not see them playing any differently today, they will look to attack from the first minute and I expect them to outplay their opponents in the passing game. Czech Republic did quite well against Spain, but they never really looked like winning that game and were lucky to lose just by the one goal, of course they were playing one of the best teams in the world in Spain, but even so, they did not fill one with confidence that they would do any better in their upcoming games, they just seemed to be lacking a positive attitude. All things considered I am taking Croatia to win this game. |
06-17-16 | Italy v. Sweden +395 | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 11 m | Show
Italy v Sweden Italy were impressive in their win over Belgium, not because they dominated the game, they did not, but because of the way in which they controlled the game, they were up against a better team, but their tactics and strategy worked perfectly and it was brilliant piece of management in how to defeat a superior opponent. Sweden lacked that sort of vision and foresight as they struggled to a 1-1 draw with Ireland in a game they really should have won but, they will have learned from their opening match and I do expect to see a very different Sweden today. It would be easy to plump for an Italian win based on the first game results for the respective sides, but I see this slightly different, Sweden represent a far different opponent for Italy and the Italians will not be able to play their rope a dope tactics against a team not considered better than them. Sweden must win in all reality, a draw would be ok at this stage but a win has to be their target while the Italians will be wanting to consolidate their position at the top of the table. I see this game today very differently than I did the opening games, this game is not set up for the Italian style of play and it could turn out to be a dogged affair, something the Swedes are good at. I am going for a Swedish win today, I believe that the Italians will have to play differently today and will not be so defensive and that their limitations will be exposed, they will have to go forward far more often than they did against Belgium and will not be able to get so many men behind the ball. All things considered a Swedish win for me. |
06-16-16 | Ecuador v. United States | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 17 m | Show
USA V Ecuador This is a huge game for USA, win and they will be the semi final of Copa America and I believe that is exactly what will happen. Ecuador are a good side, it would be foolish to think that this game will be easy for USA, it will not, the Ecuadorians deserve their place in the quarter finals, but I think they have gone as far as they can now. The USA have one huge advantage and that is home advantage, that makes a difference and with the crowd behind them I do expect Jurgen Klinsmann's men to deliver at CenturyLink field this evening. I take the USA to win on the spreads. |
06-16-16 | Germany v. Poland OVER 2.5 | 0-0 | Loss | -127 | 6 h 40 m | Show
Germany v Poland I thought that Germany made hard work of their win over Ukraine, but it was the first game of this competition and they will probably kick on from that opening performance. I also thought that Poland should have done better against Northern Ireland and again they may get better after getting their first game out of the way. The Germans are world champions and should win this, but Poland are no walkovers and they can put up a good account of themselves, this will not be an easy game for the Germans. That said, I do think the Germans will win but I do not have that much confidence in them to do so, I have more confidence in Ukraine beating Northern Ireland than I do that the Germans will beat Poland and therein lies my problem. The Germans will probably win but the spread is simply too high for me and I can see Poland scoring a goal, so that leaves me with one confident pick in this game and that is the overs. I do see goals in this game and obviously if I see a German win and Poland scoring then the logic is that there will be at least three goals. Take Over 2.5 goals |
06-16-16 | Ukraine -1 v. Northern Ireland | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 42 m | Show
Ukraine v Northern Ireland It really would be nice to see Northern Ireland claim the win today, but I really cannot see that happening and take Ukraine to come out on top. Northern Ireland are probably the worst team in the competition, they did very well to make this tournament and they are definitely a plucky outfit, but they are very limited and despite being very organised, they are handicapped by their limitations. Ukraine are not exactly world beaters I admit and it would not be the greatest shock in the world if Northern Ireland did get a result against them, but I simply do not see that happening, they did well against Germany despite losing 2-0 and I really cannot see anything other than a Ukraine win today. The spread is set quite high but I am confident that Ukraine will overcome it. Take Ukraine -1 |
06-15-16 | Romania v. Switzerland | 1-1 | Push | 0 | 8 h 43 m | Show
Romania v Switzerland I like the look of the Romanians in this game and take them to get the better of the Swiss. I thought the Swiss were very lucky against 10 man Albania in their opening game and they did not convince me that they are anything special, in fact my opinion of them fell somewhat, they were simply not as good as I thought they were. Romania I thought did themselves proud against the French, that was a hell of a tough assignment and even though they lost I felt they did quite well. The Swiss would probably be happy with a draw in this game and the truth is I do not see them doing any better than that at best. I am taking Romania on the spreads. |
06-15-16 | Russia v. Slovakia | 1-2 | Win | 131 | 5 h 42 m | Show
Russia v Slovakia Russia and Slovakia go head to head in the second game of group B for these two sides, both are desperate for the win and both will see this game as their best chance to register a win. The Russians did not convince me at all when they salvaged a draw against England, they were outplayed throughout the game and showed that they are a very average side. Slovakia were unfortunate against Wales and while they are not any sort of world beaters, they are not as inferior to the Russians as the odds would have you believe. I see the Slovakian's putting up a good show and matching the Russians and I take them to cover the spread today. |
06-14-16 | PANAMA v. CHILE -1.5 | 2-4 | Win | 115 | 13 h 35 m | Show
Chile v Panama I cannot see anything but a Chile win here and a convincing one at that. Chile were both very lucky and very unlucky in their 2-1 win over Bolivia, they were very unlucky because they should have won the game easily, they had more than enough chances and on any other day would have racked up a loadl of goals, they were very lucky being awarded a dubious penalty in the last seconds of the game to grab the win. Panama are simply not in the same class as Chile, they were thumped by Argentina and were lucky to beat Bolivia and if Chile play to form then Panama will spend the evening in their own half defending. Chile are due a comprehensive win, they owe their fans one and they deserve a change in luck, I am very confident that will happen tonight, they may only need a draw but having watched what happened to Brazil I cannot see them being complacent and fully expect them to go all out for the win. I see Chile winning this one easily and will be taking them to cover the spread. |
06-14-16 | Austria v. Hungary +0.5 | 0-2 | Win | 115 | 4 h 30 m | Show
Austria v Hungary The odds suggest that this is close to being a walkover for the Austrians, but I am not convinced of that. The Austrians did qualify in style but their qualification group was hardly the strongest and since then their pre tournament games have not been overwhelming, they are not what can be considered a top class side. The Hungarians are definitely not a top class side, but neither are they minnows like San Marino or some other tiny footballing nation, they qualified the hard way via the play offs and their qualification group was arguably no easier than the Austrians. I will not go as far as taking the Hungarians on the money line, but I do believe they are very good value on the spreads and that will be my pick. Take Hungary +0.5 |
06-13-16 | Belgium v. Italy OVER 2 | 0-2 | Push | 0 | 7 h 21 m | Show
Belgium v Italy In past years this fixture would have been an easy one for Italy, not no more, not against this Belgium team. This Belgium team is full of brilliant players and on paper are the better team, but it would be foolish to underestimate Italy, they may be one of the weakest Italian teams we have ever seen, but they are still Italy and still possess a team of quality players. Belgium are deserved favourites but I am not that confident to make them the pick, at the same time I cannot ignore the fact that Italy are not the team of past years. The safest pick in this game is the totals, I do see both teams scoring at least once and there is a good chance that one of them, most probably Belgium, will sneak the win. |
06-13-16 | Republic of Ireland v. Sweden +133 | 1-1 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 19 m | Show
Republic of Ireland v Sweden Tricky opening game for both sides, however I am of the opinion that Sweden will just edge this one and claim all three points. Sweden have had a better run in to this competition and in Zlatan ibrahimovic they have the one player that could make all the difference, he is the only genuine world class player from either team. Ireland are a workmanlike team and will be hard to beat, but so are Sweden and the Swedes just have that little bit extra, especially up front. Take Sweden to get the win. |
06-12-16 | Peru v. Brazil OVER 2.5 | 1-0 | Loss | -112 | 14 h 36 m | Show
Brazil vs Peru Brazil and Peru face one another at the Gillette Stadium, with the final Group B fixture of the Copa America promising at least 2.5 goals scored. Although Brazil opened their campaign with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Ecuador, the side demolished Haiti 7-1 on Wednesday. Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho was the stand-out performer in their victory, scoring his first international hat-trick in the process, and will surely be hungry for more goals again today. Dunga’s side will be eager to prove themselves in this tournament after a disappointing exits from the World Cup and last year’s Copa America, and know a positive result could be required over Peru. While Peru are second in Group B, the country will be well aware that an Ecuador victory over Haiti would put their progression chances at risk. As such, Los Incas will be expected to give everything to tonight’s performance and test their opponents. Despite being one of the smaller South American teams, Peru earned a third-place finish last year, and will be hoping for a repeat at the Centenario edition. Ricardo Gareca will be fielding a youthful attack that have scored an average 2.5 goals in their past 4 matches, and a high-scoring result would not be unexpected again this evening. Brazil and Peru have given entertaining displays of football recently, and I predict that will continue, with at least 2.5 goals scored between the two sides. |
06-12-16 | Germany -1 v. Ukraine | 2-0 | Win | 105 | 8 h 53 m | Show
Germany vs Ukraine Germany and Ukraine go head-to-head in their opening game of the European Championships, with the reigning world champions Germany expected to win by at least 2 goals. Germany ended a turbulent qualification period top of their group, above close rivals Poland, but have been inconsistent during recent friendlies, losing three of their five matches. However, Die Mannschaft faced strong opponents in each, and will be boosted after a comprehensive 4-1 win over Italy. The Germans have always had poor results in preparation for competitions, and after their dominating performance in Brazil two years ago, most would suggest the country are among favourites to lift the European trophy in France. Â Although Thomas Muller has yet to score in the European Championships, the Bayern Munich striker scored nine times in qualifying and will be certainly be a considerable threat to their opponents. Ukraine were less convincing in the preliminary stages, having to qualify for the tournament by winning their play-off fixture against Slovenia. The country has only previously featured in the Euros as hosts, and lack high-level experience compared to their German counterparts. Head coach Mykhaylo Fomenko is expected to field an attacking side, including Andriy Yarmolenko and Viktor Kovalenko, though their defence will not be strong enough and mainly consists of Ukrainian league players. Ukraine recently conceded 3 times against Romania, and Germany will certainly be able to take advantage of any frailties in the back-line. With a strong attacking setup and significant tournament experience, I predict that Germany will beat Ukraine by at least 2 goals at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy this evening. |
06-12-16 | Turkey v. Croatia +106 | 0-1 | Win | 106 | 2 h 59 m | Show
Turkey vs Croatia Turkey and Croatia begin their European Championship campaigns at the Parc des Princes this afternoon, with the Croatian side expected to claim the first victory of Group D. Croatia have never lost to Turkey in regular time, and will be aiming to start a difficult group by continuing the record over their opponents. While their qualification was turbulent at times, the country’s form has improved since the appointment of Ante Cacic, who has yet to lose as head coach. Croatia boast plenty of talent across the pitch, notably in midfield and attack, with Ivan Rakitic, Luka Modric and Mario Manduzukic all stand-out performers. The Vatreni should enter the fixture high on confidence after recently setting a national record, beating minnows San Marino 10-0, and should possess more than enough talent to overcome Turkey this afternoon. Turkey had a rough qualification stage, behind Czech Republic and Iceland but progressing as best third-place team, that suggests they will struggle in throughout the competition. In their preparation friendlies, the Crescent-Stars laboured to wins against Montenegro and Slovenia, and were defeated by England. Although there are some familiar names in Fatih Terim’s squad, they will not be good enough to earn a result today. Barcelona’s Arda Turan and Borussia Dortmund’s Nuri Sahin have hardly featured for their respective clubs this season, and will not be in the best shape to carry their team. Overall, I predict that the Croatian team will be too strong for Turkey to handle, and will claim all three points with a victory this afternoon. |
06-11-16 | PARAGUAY v. United States +113 | 0-1 | Win | 113 | 10 h 44 m | Show
USA vs Paraguay The United States host Paraguay in their all-important Copa America fixture this evening, with the US expected to progress to the knockout stages with a victory. The US start the game knowing that a draw should be enough to ensure they qualify from Group A, as Costa Rica need a massive six-goal swing to surpass them. However, the Stars and Stripes will be aiming to build on Tuesday’s comfortable 4-0 win and enter the knockout stages confidently. Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has been adamant that his side will not be approaching the fixture lightly, and the presence of star player Clint Dempsey will be important to the result. The striker has been excellent during the tournament so far, scoring once and providing two assists in the comprehensive win over Costa Rica, and should feature despite taking a knock in the match. Another victory should be on the cards for the US today, possessing more talent than their opponents Paraguay. Paraguay reached the semi-final of the previous Copa America, but will almost certainly crash out at the group stages this time around. The team have yet to win a match this year, and struggled in both of their games against Colombia and Costa Rica, registering just a single goal so far. Indeed, La Albirroja have only won one of their last sixteen Copa America games, and simply do not have any significant attacking threat in their squad. Ramon Diaz cannot field his preferred line-up, with Oscar Romero suspended after receiving two yellow cards against Colombia, and will be expected to exit the competition with defeat. In summary, I predict that the United States should comfortably beat Paraguay at the Lincoln Financial Field today, securing their spot in the quarter-finals. |

06-11-16 | England -119 v. Russia | 1-1 | Loss | -119 | 6 h 47 m | Show
England vs Russia England face Russia at the Stade Velodrome this evening for their first match of the European Championships, and the English should have more than enough to take all three points with a win. England will enter the competition with confidence, progressing through qualifying as the only country to win all their matches. Since crashing out of the World Cup two years ago, the Three Lions have won 17 of their 21 international fixtures, only recently losing to Spain and the Netherlands. The England team possesses several stand-out players who have impressed with their clubs this season, most notably strikers Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy, scoring 49 league goals between them. After humiliation in Brazil, Roy Hodgson’s squad will be eager to put the past behind them and should have enough quality to easily claim victory against their opponents. Russia have been less than convincing in the build-up to the Euros, qualifying behind Austria in their group, and only two points ahead of third-placed Sweden. The Russians have won just two of their six recent friendly matches, struggling against more competent and organised sides, including France and Croatia. Experienced midfielders Alan Dzagoev and Igor Denisov have both been ruled out with injury, and the team will encounter significant difficulties without their presence. Head coach Leonid Slutsky has never been in charge at a major tournament, and will learn a harsh lesson with Russia almost certain to lose. I predict that England will have too much quality and experience for Russia to handle, winning their opening Euros fixture tonight. |

06-11-16 | Wales v. Slovakia | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 50 m | Show
Wales vs Slovakia Wales and Slovakia travel to the Stade Matmut-Atlantique in Bordeaux for the opening Group B match of the Euros, with the Welsh predicted to do well in their opening game. Wales are featuring in their second-ever major tournament, previously appearing in the 1958 World Cup, and will be eager to provide an excellent showing for their supporters. The Dragons lost just once during qualifying, a 2-0 away defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina, and conceded only four goals throughout. Wales will be boosted by fitness reports, with key players Gareth Bale, Joe Allen, Joe Ledley and Hal Robson-Kanu all returning from injury. At near-full strength, Chris Coleman’s side should possess more than enough talent to beat their opponents. Slovakia are also playing in the Euros for the first time, though their squad appears less than convincing on paper. The country’s all-time top goalscorer Robert Vittek is absent from the team due to injury, while captain Martin Skrtel has endured a poor individual season at Liverpool. Jan Kozak’s team rely heavily on Napoli’s Marek Hamsik for their attacking play, with the Napoli midfielder scoring 5 goals in qualifying, but lack any threat elsewhere. If Hamsik is kept in check by Wales, it’s difficult to see Slovakia producing anything of note. Overall, I predict that Wales will make a return to tournament football with a victory over Slovakia this afternoon, however, I will not be taking them on the money line. Because this is their first game in a major tournament in over 50 years there is a chance they may succumb to the occasion, so may Slovakia for that matter, but it is an element I cannot ignore. Therefore I am taking Wales on the spread and in the event they draw then at least the stake is returned, it is a safety net that I feel is best taken for this game because of the circumstances surrounding it. |

06-10-16 | BOLIVIA +2 v. CHILE | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 55 m | Show
Chile vs Bolivia Chile and Bolivia face one another at the Gillette Stadium for their second Group D fixture, and while the Chileans should win, I cannot see Bolivia losing heavily as the spread suggests. Despite being the current Copa America champions, Chile have been in poor form over recent months. La Roja’s results have included losses to Jamaica and Mexico, as well as defeat in their opening match of the competition against Argentina. However, the Chileans did demonstrate some excellent football on Monday, and will be hoping to restore confidence with a victory over minnows Bolivia. Juan Antonio Pizzi’s team have only lost 1 of their 11 encounters with Bolivia, and know that they will need all the points to retain a chance of progressing from the group. Although Bolivia are considered one of the lowest-ranked teams in this year’s competition, the national team are unlikely to suffer a heavy loss this evening. As with their opponents, La Verde have also lost 5 of their previous 6 matches, and are almost certainly going to lose once more to Chile. It’s difficult to predict a significant goal margin between the two sides though, with the majority of Bolivia’s losses by no more than a couple of goals. Julio Cesar Baldivieso’s squad may not have much threat up front, but have improved their defensive discipline of late. Overall, we expect that Chile will probably claim the victory today, but Bolivia will have a 2 goal start on the spread and that for me is just too high, therefore I am taking Bolivia to cover the spread.. |
06-10-16 | France v. Romania +1.5 | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 57 m | Show
France vs Romania France will open the European Championships with their Group A match against Romania this evening, and although Les Bleus may win, we predict that Romania will not lose by 2 goals or more. As the tournament hosts, France automatically qualified without the need to play any competitive fixtures. However, the country played friendly matches against countries in Group I, including the likes of Portugal and Denmark, and would have topped the standings based on their results. Les Bleus have been on an impressive run of form, winning 9 of their previous 10 games, with their only loss coming from England shortly after the Paris terror attacks. However, Didier Deschamps’ squad have encountered some difficulties recently, labouring in their victories over the Netherlands, Russia and Cameroon, and winning each by just a single goal margin. Relative minnows Romania qualified for a major tournament for the first time in 8 years, having previously featured in Euro 2008 where they finished bottom of the group. The Tricolorii went undefeated in qualification stages, earning 5 wins and 5 draws, suggesting they won’t be pushovers this time around. Romania conceded the fewest number of goals of any team during that period, just 2 goals conceded in the 10 fixtures, and could frustrate a French attack that includes inconsistent striker Olivier Giroud. Despite being underdogs for the match, Anghel Iordănescu’s side were able to draw in recent friendlies against Italy and Spain, and even in defeat are unlikely to be humiliated tonight. In summary, my prediction is that while France could take the victory and all three points, Romania will not lose by 2 goals or more and will therefore cover the spread. |

06-09-16 | Venezuela v. Uruguay -1 | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 17 m | Show
Uruguay v Venezuela It is hard to see this game ending in anything other than a Uruguay win. Both these teams first games involved red cards and it was very interesting to see how the games evolved once the red cards had been issued. Venezuela beat 10 man Jamaica, but they made such hard work of it, when I was watching the game it was hard to know who was really down to ten men, Jamaica were very unlucky to lose that game and Venezuela were very lucky to claim the three points. Uruguay were down to ten men for large parts of their game against Mexico and managed to claw themselves back into the game a minute after Mexico themselves were reduced to ten men, Mexico won the game with two late goals in the 85th minute and injury time, but the Uruguayans showed a great deal of character in their loss, certainly a lot more than what today's opponents Venezuela showed in their win over Jamaica. Uruguay will be without Luis Suarez and that is a hit, seems he may end up missing the entire tournament, but they have enough talent up front in Cavani to be able to cope without the Barcelona maestro. Bottom line is this, Uruguay showed far more in defeat than Venezuela did in victory in their respective opening games and I do not see the Venezuelans improving, whereas I do see Uruguay putting in another good performance. I see Uruguay winning this game and winning it comfortably, I am very confident they can cover the fairly high spread of one goal and win this game by at least a couple. |
06-08-16 | Peru v. Ecuador OVER 2 | 2-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 59 m | Show
Peru v Ecuador There was very little to separate these two teams before this competition started and after the first set of results there is still little to separate them. In their opening game Peru defeated Haiti 1-0 and will probably be a little disappointed in their performance, which was rather lacklustre for large parts of that game. Ecuador on the other hand had a very credible 0-0 draw with Brazil in their opening game and even though Brazil are not as strong as they once were, it was still a good result. When Ecuador and Peru meet each team tends to win when they are the home team, however, that does not apply here with this game being played on neutral ground at the University of Phoenix Stadium, which only adds to the uncertainty of this game. In better words I have been unable to separate the teams, Ecuador are probably the more likely winners but I am not that confident about them and the same applies with Peru. Would I go for the draw? No, simply because either team could win, there is no real reason to think a draw is more or less likely than one of the teams winning, this game could go in any direction. But that does not mean that there is not a pick to be had in this game, there is, a very good one in my opinion. I see this game going over 2 goals, yes both teams first games in this tournament had less than 2 goals, but in 13 of the last 15 games that Ecuador have played at least 2 goals have featured in the game with 8 of them featuring at least 3 goals. Peru in their last 15 games have featured in 11 games with at least 2 goals and 8 of those had at least 3 goals. So, the stats clearly show there is more chance of there being at least 2 goals in games featuring these two teams, in fact the stats are overwhelming, however only 2 goals would see a return of money on any bets placed, but more than 50% of games have featured at least 3 goals, so the edge is in favouring more than 2 goals and the odds are that at least 2 goals will be scored, thus providing an excellent safety net. But stats are not enough, one has to look at the situation on the ground and that provides enough evidence that goals will factor in this game. Ecuador must win, if they lose then the chances are they will be eliminated, therefore they must go for a win, which means goals. Peru cannot afford to lose as they face Brazil in their last game and the last thing they would want is to have to beat a Brazilian team because they failed to do the business against Ecuador, in better words Peru must go for the win as well, which means goals. A draw would be no good for Peru either as that would put them on four points, with probably Brazil on six points and Ecuador on 2, however Ecuador would have Haiti in their last game while Peru, as stated above, would have Brazil. Basically, a draw is not good for Peru either and neither would Ecuador want a draw for obvious reasons, simply put, both teams need a win which means both will go for goals. All things considered I am very confident this game will be over 2 goals. |

06-07-16 | PARAGUAY v. Colombia -0.5 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 14 m | Show
Colombia vs Paraguay Colombia and Paraguay travel to the Rose Bowl this evening for their second Group A fixture in the Copa America, with the Colombians considered favourites to claim the win. Colombia entered the tournament strongly on the back of three consecutive wins, including their friendly preparation match against Haiti. The team continued by beating the hosts of the Copa America Centenario, the United States, in a convincing 2-0 victory to almost certainly guarantee their chances of reaching the group stages. Colombia’s star player James Rodriguez was able to begin his tournament with confidence, registering on the score sheet in the opening game and expected to carry his team to the latter stages. Currently ranked 3rd in the world by FIFA rankings, Jose Pekerman’s squad should have more than enough quality to easily overcome their opponents. Paraguay cannot be deemed a threat to the Colombians after a particularly poor showing against Costa Rica at the weekend. La Albirroja managed just a single shot on target in the ninety minutes, despite relatively decent attacking talent, such as AS Roma striker Juan Iturbe. Paraguay lost their last encounter against the Colombians, and all the signs indicate that they will be defeated once again. In summary, Group A leaders Colombia will be expected to claim all three points over Paraguay this evening, ensuring their place in the knock out stages. |
06-07-16 | Costa Rica v. United States -117 | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 46 m | Show
United States vs Costa Rica The United States continue their Group A Copa America campaign against Costa Rica at Soldier Field this afternoon, where the hosts will be expected to earn their first win of the tournament. Following their defeat to Colombia, the US team will be well aware that they will need to take all three points against Costa Rica to avoid humiliation in front of their supporters. The 2-0 defeat in the opening match of the competition was the first in five games for the Stars and Stripes, who will be motivated to bounce back with a win to retain their chances of progression to the knockout stages. Jurgen Klinsmann has plenty of in-form players at his disposal, particularly San Jose striker Chris Wondolowski who has scored seven times in twelve games for his club so far this season. In particular, the national team will be boosted by the absence of Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas, and should have more than enough to capitalise on the situation. Costa Rica have previously enjoyed success over the States, winning their last friendly encounter in October. However, the country provided an incredibly poor display in their first Copa America fixture against Paraguay, rarely threatening in the 0-0 stalemate. In addition to a disappointing attack, Costa Rica will also have defensive issues after Kendall Watson received a red card in the match. With problems across the pitch, Oscar Ramirez’s side shouldn't put up too much resistance against a superior US team. I predict that the United States will bounce back in their second Copa America match, comfortably beating Costa Rica to keep up their hopes of progression from the group stages. |
06-06-16 | CHILE v. Argentina -0.5 | 1-2 | Win | 130 | 13 h 4 m | Show
Argentina vs Chile Argentina clash with Chile in the one of the highest-profile matches of the group stage of the Copa America, with Argentina predicted to claim the victory. Argentina have enjoyed excellent international results of late, reaching two consecutive tournament finals. La Albiceleste are currently unbeaten in their past six games, crucially including a 2-1 victory over Chile in World Cup qualifiers during March. Although the team will not start with talismanic forward Lionel Messi, who is carrying a back injury, there is plenty of world class talent in the squad. Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain may have been unimpressive in past appearances for his country, but has enjoyed a record-breaking Serie A campaign with Napoli, and should be able to take over goalscoring responsibilities. Tata Martino’s side will also be incentivised to earn a win as revenge for last year’s Copa America final, missing out on the trophy after penalties. While Chile are the reigning Copa America champions, the team enter the Centenario edition of the competition in poor form. La Roja have lost four of their past five games, notably including a humiliating defeat to Jamaica last month. The Chilean squad features a number of young and inexperienced defensive options, while attacking stars, particularly Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, have been inconsistent recently. It appears highly unlikely that Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side will be able to overcome Argentina again, and will certainly be defeated in their opening game. Overall, I expect Argentina to be too strong for their opponents to handle, beating Chile at the Levi’s Stadium this evening. |
06-05-16 | Uruguay v. Mexico +169 | 1-3 | Win | 169 | 11 h 31 m | Show
Mexico v Uruguay  Mexico and Uruguay face one another in the highest-profile Group C match of the Copa America, with the Mexicans predicted to earn an important victory at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Mexico’s national team have enjoyed an excellent year of football, currently on an impressive unbeaten run of 19 matches. El Tri haven’t lost a fixture since losing to Ecuador at last year’s Copa America, finishing bottom of their group. Juan Carlos Osorio’s side have won their past 9 games, including friendly victories over Paraguay and Chile in preparation for the tournament. Boasting several star players such as Javier Hernandez, who scored 17 goals for Bayer Leverkusen this season, Mexico have more than enough quality to see off Uruguay this evening and assert their position at the top of Group C. Despite being a small country, Uruguay have gained a reputation as a strong side in international football, producing several world-class players. However, the team were particularly disappointing in last year’s competition, eliminated by eventual winners Chile in the quarter finals, and start this tournament in a weakened state. Superstar striker Luis Suarez has been ruled out of the game with Mexico due to a hamstring injury, and Uruguay will sorely miss the 58 goals he scored for Barcelona this season. Oscar Tabarez’s squad have been inconsistent away from home, and cannot be considered too highly in winning their fixture today. In summary, I predict that Mexico will continue their excellent form by beating opponents Uruguay in Group C’s opening fixture. |
06-05-16 | Venezuela v. Jamaica OVER 2 | 1-0 | Loss | -103 | 7 h 24 m | Show
Jamaica vs Venezuela Jamaica and Venezuela meet at the Soldier Field for the opening Group C match of the Copa America, with at least 2 goals expected to be scored between the two sides. Jamaica will be aware of their underdog status in the tightly contested group, also containing tournament regulars Mexico and Uruguay. The Reggae Boyz will likely be seeking to take all the points from the least difficult of their opponents Venezuela in a bid for progression to the knock out stages. Recent preparation for the Copa America has been promising, including picking up an excellent 2-1 win over Chile last weekend. The past five fixtures Winfried Schafer’s side have yielded 2.2 goals on average, and their run of entertaining matches should continue this afternoon. Venezuela are among the weaker South American countries in the competition, struggling in friendlies leading up to the Copa America against opposition such as Galicia and Guatemala. Although Rafael Dudamel’s squad haven’t won in their previous six international fixtures, they do possess some attacking threat. Notable mentions include Salomon Randon, who scored nine goals for West Brom in the English Premier League this season, and promising Torino youngster Adalberto Peñaranda. Venezuela’s previous five matches have featured an average 2.2 goals scored, so fans can expect plenty of action at the Soldier Field today. While the result could go either way, we predict that at least 2 goals will be scored between Jamaica and Venezuela in their Copa America meeting this afternoon. |
06-05-16 | EC Vitória v. Internacional | 1-0 | Loss | -117 | 5 h 24 m | Show
Internacional @ Vitoria Vitoria welcome Internacional to the Barradão in their Brazilian Serie A fixture, with the visitors predicted to not lose the fixture this afternoon. Vitoria have had mixed fortunes in their start to the season, currently down at 16th in the league standings. Although their travels leave much to be desired, the newly-promoted team are unbeaten at home, including an important 3-2 victory against league leaders Corinthians; their only win so far in the campaign. However, Vágner Mancini’s squad have been struggling since then, and were beaten 1-0 by Flamengo on Friday. Vitoria have the potential to grind out a draw, but the club appear unlikely to have enough to secure another three points against high-flying Internacional. Visitors Internacional enter the fixture with plenty of confidence and unbeaten in their first five matches of the season. Inter are currently 2nd in the league, behind Corinthians on goal difference with a game to spare, and a positive result at the Barradão would place them in pole position. Argel Fucks’ side have won each match by a one goal margin, offering Vitoria the possibility of defending for a draw, though there is no chance of Inter losing. The team have conceded just a single goal so far this season, and are unlikely to slip to defeat. Overall, I predict that Internacional’s impressive record and defence will be enough to avoid defeat today, most probably winning and with a draw the worst scenario. |
06-04-16 | Peru -1 v. Haiti | 1-0 | Push | 0 | 8 h 7 m | Show
Haiti vs Peru Haiti clash with Peru at the CenturyLink Field for the opening Group B match of the Copa America, with the Peruvians expected to comfortably claim victory by at least two goals. Ahead of the game, Peru are considered the favourites based upon their recent progress in tournaments, achieving 3rd ahead of Paraguay in last year’s Copa America. Los Incas put their World Cup qualifying struggled behind them with excellent friendly victories over Trinidad and Tobago and El Salvador, and will be confident of repeating the results against the competition’s lowest-ranked country. Ricardo Gareco has decided to field a young squad that will be eager to prove themselves, knowing that a victory will be required if they are to have a chance to qualify in a group containing both Brazil and Ecuador. The Haitian national team enter the fixture with little experience in competitions, aside from the local Caribbean Cup. Les Grenadiers have a poor record against higher-ranked opponents, losing three of their past five games, including last weekend’s friendly against Colombia. The highest goal-scorer in the current Haiti squad is Kervens Belfort with just 11 international goals, and Patrice Neveu are unlikely to pose much of a threat to teams in their Copa America debut. I predict that Peru will easily win their opening match against minnows Haiti by a margin of at least two goals. |
06-04-16 | PARAGUAY v. Costa Rica | 0-0 | Push | 0 | 6 h 37 m | Show
Paraguay vs Costa Rica The Copa America Group A fixtures continue this afternoon, with Costa Rica expected to not lose against Paraguay at the Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium. Costa Rica have emerged as an impressive side in global football over recent years, including reaching the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup. The team have lost just two of their past ten international fixtures, capping off preparation for the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Venezuela. While both countries are considered underdogs to progress, Oscar Ramirez’s side are arguably stronger than their opponents, and will be keen to capitalise on the USA’s defeat yesterday. Although Paraguay are boosted by the absence of Costa Rica’s star goalkeeper Keylor Navas due to injury, Los Albirroja have suffered their own problems. The Paraguayan team have regularly struggled in attack, averaging less than one goal in their past ten games, and will sorely miss record goal-scorer Roque Santa Cruz. Replacement Nelson Valdez has scored just 13 times in 75 international appearances, and will be unlikely to take advantage of the Costa Rican injury crisis. Ramon Diaz's side have won only two of their games since crashing out of the Copa America last year, and it's difficult to see an improvement happening today. Based on their recent form and expected line-ups, I do not see Costa Rica losing this match, and I predict that Costa Rica will cover the spread. |
06-03-16 | Colombia v. United States OVER 2 | 2-0 | Push | 0 | 9 h 8 m | Show
United States vs Colombia Copa America hosts United States face Colombia in the tournament’s opening group stage fixture, with at least 3 goals expected to be scored between the two sides. The United States will enter the match with plenty of confidence in front of the home support, and have been in excellent form during their recent friendlies. The Stars and Stripes have won each of their past 5 non-competitive games, including Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Bolivia. Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad has an excellent combination of experience and youth, particularly in-form striker Gyasi Zardes, who picked up a brace last weekend. While the crowd will be firmly behind the US, opposition visitors Colombia are likely to provide plenty of attacking threat throughout the game. Los Cafeteros have scored 3 goals in each of the last 3 international fixtures and possess several creative players up-front. Carlos Bacca has netted 18 times for AC Milan this season, while Dayro Moreno has scored 20 goals for Mexican side Tijuana. After a disappointing Copa America last year, José Pékerman’s team will be eager to start strongly this evening and test the US defence. Overall, we predict that the competition will open with at least 3 goals scored in an entertaining display from both sides |
05-30-16 | AFC Wimbledon v. Plymouth Argyle | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 3 h 2 m | Show
AFC Wimbledon vs Plymouth Argyle AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle travel to Wembley Stadium for the League Two play-off final this afternoon, and I predict that Wimbledon will not be in a losing position after 90 minutes. Despite finishing 7th place in the League Two table, Wimbledon enter the fixture on an excellent run of form. The Dons have lost just one of their last 10 matches, including a narrow 3-2 aggregate victory over rated Accrington Stanley. Neal Ardley’s squad won 2-1 in the previous fixture against Plymouth at Home Park, proving they’re capable of surpassing their opponents away from home. Wimbledon have never played a competitive fixture at Wembley before, and will be aiming to give the supporters plenty to cheer about as they continue their remarkable rise through the leagues. Although Plymouth Argyle have beaten Wimbledon twice in all competitions this season, it’s difficult to see them finishing off the game within 90 minutes. The Pilgrims have faltered slightly in recent weeks, with an unconvincing win over Portsmouth earning their place in the play-off final. Derek Adams’ side have struggled to pick up points against teams in the top half of the table this season, and will most likely encounter difficulties against the Dons. In summary, I expect Wimbledon to either win the match outright or take it to extra time, and cannot see the Dons losing after 90 minutes. |
05-29-16 | VALERENGA IF v. AALESUNDS FK OVER 2.5 | 2-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 32 m | Show
Aalesund vs Valerenga Aalesund welcome Valerenga to the Color Line Stadion this evening, in a Norwegian Tippeligaen fixture that I expect to produce at least 2.5 goals. Despite being just 12th position in the league table, hosts Aalesund have provided their supporters with plenty of entertainment at home. The first 6 league fixtures at the Color Line Stadion have provided an average 3.3 goals per game, including a dominating 6-0 victory over Tromso last month. Aalesund striker Mostafa Adellaoue has improved his scoring rate in recent matches, scoring 5 goals in the last 7 games in all competitions, and will be surely aiming to continue his individual form with more contributions today. The visitors Valerenga have also seen their fair share of action-packed fixtures on the road this campaign, with their past 8 away matches featuring an average 3 goals per game. The Bohemians have scored at least 2.5 goals on 8 occasions this season, with their most recent fixture ending in a solid 3-1 victory against Vidar in the Norwegian Cup. One of the star performers in Kjetil Rekdal’s squad has been Jamaican forward Deshorn Brown with 6 goals scored, already close to surpassing last season’s record with half the games played. Over the past two seasons, encounters between Aalesund and Valerenga have yielded 3.25 goals per match, and another entertaining clash should be on the cards. I predict that there will be at least 2.5 goals scored by the two sides this evening. |
05-28-16 | Chicago Fire v. Portland Timbers +0.5 | 1-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 34 m | Show
Portland Timbers @ Chicago Fire Eastern Conference hosts the Western Conference as Chicago Fire welcome Portland Timbers this afternoon, with the visitors predicted to either win or draw the match. Chicago Fire have been disappointing throughout the season so far, currently bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference standings. Veljko Paunovic’s squad have won just 2 matches of the current campaign, only narrowly edging out fellow strugglers Houston Dynamo last weekend. The Fire have scored just 9 goals in 11 games, the lowest in either division, and cannot be considered to pose too much of a threat to their opponents today. Visitors Portland Timbers also recently ended a 3 match losing streak, emphatically beating rivals Vancouver Whitecaps 4-2 on Sunday. The Timbers have encountered difficulties on the road, but have already faced some of the strongest teams over the past month, and can take some confidence from their positive attacking performances. Caleb Porter’s side have never lost against Chicago, winning 4 of their 6 matches since 2011, and are expected to take at least a share of the points at the Toyota Park once again. I cannot see Chicago Fire winning this match due to their disappointing showing this season, and predict that Portland Timbers will either draw or win the match. |
05-28-16 | Real Madrid v. Atletico Madrid | 1-1 | Win | 220 | 3 h 57 m | Show
Real vs Atletico The Champions League concludes this evening, as Real Madrid face Atletico Madrid at the San Siro. Despite arriving with an impressive record in the tournament so far this season, Real have struggled against their opponents since the 2014 final in which they emerged victors after extra time. Los Blancos have won just 1 of their past 6 encounters against Atletico, losing the previous fixture between the sides 1-0. Although an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo returns from injury, Zinedine Zidane’s squad were unconvincing in the semi-finals against Manchester City, and their attack will likely prove ineffective against La Liga’s best defensive unit. Atletico Madrid have yet to win the highest European honours, and the team will be eager to avenge their humiliating collapse two seasons ago. Diego Simeone’s side have beaten the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to reach this stage of the competition, and have demonstrated how discipline can prevent even the world’s best attacking teams from scoring. While somewhat lacking up-front. I predict that this game will not find a winner after 90 minutes of regular time, with a draw the most likely outcome. |
05-28-16 | Hull City v. Sheffield Wednesday +256 | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 2 h 37 m | Show
Sheffield Wednesday vs Hull City Championship sides Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City travel to Wembley this afternoon for the play-off final, and I expect Wednesday to win this in the 90 minutes of regular play. The winners earn promotion to the Premier League, worth an estimated £170 million, and Sheffield Wednesday will be eager to make their return to the top flight after a 16-year absence. Despite finishing the season below their opponents in the league standings, the Owls are highly unlikely to be in a losing position after 90 minutes. The club were able to comfortably brush aside 3rd-placed Brighton two weeks ago, and have proven themselves capable of handling the pressure. Carlos Carvahal’s squad includes striker Fernando Forestieri, with the team’s leading goal-scorer helping Watford secure promotion last season, and his experience could be the deciding factor. Although Hull are hoping to regain their place in the Premier League after just a single season, it is difficult to see the team winning in regular time. The Tigers narrowly avoided elimination from the semi-finals, scraping past Derby County unconvincingly 3-2 on aggregate. Steve Bruce’s side were unable to beat Wednesday in their two encounters this season, being held to a draw on both occasions, and there’s little to suggest they will be able to improve upon their results today. In summary, I predict that Sheffield Wednesday will beat Hull City over 90 minutes of play. |
05-26-16 | Viborg FF v. Nordsjaelland OVER 2.5 | 0-1 | Loss | -134 | 4 h 41 m | Show
Viborg @ Nordsjælland Nordsjaelland host Viborg this evening in a Danish Superliga fixture that promises plenty of entertainment, with at least 2.5 goals predicted to be scored. Despite several disappointing results, hosts Nordsjaelland have offered supporters a number of exciting matches recently. Although claiming just a single victory in their past 7 matches, an average 3.2 goals per game were on display during that same period. Last weekend’s fixture against AGF Aarhus was a memorable 3-3 thriller at the Farum Park, and home fans will be expecting another goal frenzy again today. Travelling opponents Viborg have likewise had their fair share of high-scoring fixtures over the past couple of months. Away matches for the Old Capital have included a 6-0 victory at Hobro IK in March, followed up by a 5-1 defeat to Odense BK last month. Viborg boast some good attacking talent, with top scorer Jeppe Curth finding the back of the net 10 times so far this league campaign. A positive result may not be guaranteed, but Johnny Molby’s side are certain to provide an interesting spectacle. While either team could take a share of the spoils, the fixture between Nordsjaelland and Viborg will be an excellent tie for fans, and I expect at least 2.5 goals to be scored this evening at the Farum Park. |

05-26-16 | Snderjyske -115 v. Randers FC | 1-1 | Loss | -115 | 3 h 43 m | Show
Randers @ SønderjyskE SønderjyskE welcome Randers to the Haderslev Fodboldstadion in one of the evening’s highly-anticipated Danish Superliga matches, with the hosts expected to keep their title hopes alive with a victory. SønderjyskE will enter the fixture knowing that all three points will be needed to maintain pressure on the league leaders Copenhagen. Seven points currently separate the two sides with only a handful of matches remaining, but SønderjyskE supporters should be confident of another win today. Jakob Michelsen’s squad are undefeated in their past 8 home matches, in an impressive run that stretches back to before the winter break. Last week, the team comfortably beat Odense BK 3-1 at home, and will aim to repeat the result against a similarly-rated Randers. The visitors have endured a turbulent time recently, struggling to pick up consistent results either at home or on the road. Their previous fixture ended as a 2-1 home defeat to Midtjylland, and Randers have little to play for this season, with European qualification now surely out of their reach. Colin Todd’s team drew in February’s encounter with SønderjyskE, but haven’t offered much lately to suggest they can take anything from this match. I predict that the hosts SønderjyskE will be able to take all the points this evening. |

05-23-16 | 1. FC Nurnberg v. Eintracht Frankfurt | 0-1 | Loss | -102 | 4 h 7 m | Show
Nurnburg V Eintracht Frankfurt Second leg of the play off in Germany today between Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt and Bundesliga 2 side Nurnburg. These two are playing for the right to play in the top German league next season, Frankfurt finished third bottom in the top league, while Nurnburg finished third in the second division. The first leg finished 1-1 in Frankfurt and this has set up an enticing second leg with all to play for. Frankfurt blew the chance to leave their home ground with an advantage and face an uphill struggle to maintain their presence in the top division. Nurnburg are quite formidable at home, they lost just the once all season on their home ground and will be confident that they can get the better of a very weak Frankfurt side. Frankfurt lost 11 from 17 on the road and in their last ten games away they lost 8 times, they are not a team to be confident about when travelling. Nurnburg have the exact opposite figures over their last 10 home games, winning on 8 occasions. Now, it must be noted that Frankfurt were playing teams of a higher standard, but the first leg showed that Nurnburg have more about them, they certainly have the momentum, something that Frankfurt clearly lack. For me this is a game that I cannot see Nurnburg losing and I will be taking them to cover the spread. |

05-22-16 | ATL TUCUMAN v. Newell's Old Boys | 1-2 | Win | 125 | 6 h 53 m | Show
Atletico Tucuman  @ Newell’s Old Boys vs Newell’s Old Boys will host high-flying Atletico Tucuman at the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa this afternoon, with the home team predicted to avoid defeat in their important Argentine Primera Division match. Newell’s started the season poorly, losing 4 of their first 6 league matches, but have been slowly gaining some consistency. The team have lost only 1 of their 7 home league fixtures at the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa so far, and will have gained some confidence after emphatically winning their last match 5-2 against Sansinema in the Argentina Cup. Supporters should be confident that they will manage to take at least a share of the spoils this afternoon, using the home advantage to prevent another loss. Although visitors Atletico Tucuman are enjoying 3rd place in the league standings at the moment, Juan Manuel Azconzabal’s squad have encountered some difficulties on their travels, picking up just 2 wins in 7 attempts. Their most recent away match ended 1-1 against Temperley, a side just one position above today’s opponents Newell’s Old Boys, and it would appear doubtful that Atletico have enough to take all the points. My prediction is that Newell’s Old Boys will not lose against Atletico Tucuman today, managing to either secure a win or at worst, a draw with their opponents. |

05-22-16 | Portland Timbers +110 v. Vancouver Whitecaps | 4-2 | Win | 110 | 5 h 55 m | Show
Vancouver Whitecaps @ Portland Timbers Portland Timbers will host the Vancouver Whitecaps in a highly-anticipated MLS Western Conference clash at the Providence Park, with the Timbers expected to win. Portland have lost each of their last three matches, starting with the previous encounter between these two sides in which the Whitecaps claimed a 2-1 victory at the BC Place. The Timbers now find themselves down in 9th place, just a single point above Houston Dynamo, but can take some encouragement from their performances. Caleb Porter’s squad have only narrowly lost each of their matches, and continue to show promising results in attack. Despite going through their worst streak under Porter, the afternoon’s Cascadia Cup clash could be the boost the Timbers need, with the fans clearly eager for revenge over their rivals. Although visitors Vancouver started a three-game winning streak with their close win over Portland a couple of weeks ago, the team have been less than convincing in each fixture. Their last game was a narrow 4-3 result against Toronto, during which the Whitecaps’ defensive vulnerabilities were brought to light. Carl Robinson’s team have lost 4 of their previous 6 matches on the road, and will find their trip to the Providence Park difficult today. As such, I predict that the Portland Timbers will earn a victory over their rivals today, ending their losing streak and taking all 3 points. |

05-22-16 | Lillestrom +137 v. Viking | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 45 m | Show
Lillestrøm @ Viking Lillestrøm will welcome Viking at the Arasen Stadion this evening in an important Norwegian Tippeligaen fixture that could advance both teams’ prospects, with the hosts predicted to take the win. Lillestrøm must be considered favourites in the fixture based on their home form this season, despite their problems elsewhere. The Canaries are unbeaten in their 5 matches at the Arasen Stadion so far, boasting an impressive 9 goals scored and just 2 conceded during the run. Although one place behind their opponents in the league standings, their goal difference is notably better, and Lillestrøm will be expected to play a threatening attacking match. Rúnar Kristinsson’s squad have been a much more confident side in front of their support, and should be able to continue their excellent home record. Visitors Viking have taken points from their travels this campaign, though that has included facing the bottom 4 clubs on their travels. Indeed, the Dark Blues lost their most recent away match against lowly Stabaek, and were also dominated by Rosenborg in the fixture before that. When facing competent opposition, Kjell Granfelt’s team have been found wanting, including failing to create any chances against Sogndal last weekend. In their current state, Viking cannot be predicted to take anything from today’s game. I believe that Lillestrøm will emerge the winners today, beating their opponents Viking and claiming all three points. |
05-21-16 | Seattle Sounders FC +103 v. Colorado Rapids | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 24 m | Show
Colorado Rapids @ Seattle Sounders Seattle Sounders host the Colorado Rapids in a high-profile MLS Western Conference fixture, with the Sounders predicted to claim victory and an important three points. Seattle endured a poor start to the season, losing 5 of their first 6 matches across all competitions. Despite struggling during their travels, the Sounders have managed some consistency at the CenturyLink Field, winning their past 4 home games. Although a continuation of their excellent run would not alter their league position, Sigi Schmid’s squad have played 3 fewer matches than 7th-placed Sporting KC and would improve their future prospects with another win. While the Rapids have already beaten their opponents in the reverse fixture last month, the Western Conference leaders cannot be considered potential winners today. Colorado are undefeated in their previous 7 matches, but have picked up just a single away win in 6 attempts this season, including being held by lowly Columbus Crew last weekend. Pablo Mastroeni’s side have serious difficulties on the road which are almost certain to limit their chances of taking anything away from Seattle this evening. My verdict is that Seattle should be successful in their match this evening, earning a victory over their opponents Colorado at the CenturyLink Field. |

05-21-16 | Chicago Fire v. Houston Dynamo OVER 2.5 | 1-0 | Loss | -107 | 7 h 35 m | Show
Houston Dynamo @Â Chicago Fire The afternoon fixture between Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo sees the two bottom sides of the MLS Eastern and Western Conferences face one another, with at least 2.5 goals expected from the match. Hosts Chicago have been in dreadful form throughout the season, but could redeem themselves with a strong showing in front of their supporters at the Toyota Park. Fire have lost just 1 of their previous 5 home fixtures, and could be inspired to an entertaining performance after losing all 3 on the road this month. While some of Veljko Paunovic's squad have been poor, Chicago do contain some attacking threat, with Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike netting 4 times so far in this campaign. Although visitors Houston are bottom of the Western Conference, Owen Coyle's side have shown some signs of life in recent weeks. The team have won 2 of their past 3 matches, and are the highest scorers in the bottom half of either conference. Currently averaging 3.3 goals scored and conceded each game, it would come as no surprise to see another absorbing spectacle today. The result could go either way, though I predict that there will be at least 2.5 goals scored between Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo this afternoon. |
05-21-16 | SK Brann v. MOLDE FK -1 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 46 m | Show
Brann @ Molde Molde welcome Brann this afternoon for an important Norwegian Tippeligaen fixture, with the hosts expected to comfortably win. Hosts Molde enter the match as overwhelming favourites, undefeated at the Aker Stadion this season with 4 wins in their previous 5 home games. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side boast the most prolific attack in the Norwegian league, averaging 2 goals per match, and supporters should be confident of repeating the same result today against Brann. Molde are currently 3rd in the league standings, though a strong result could see them rise above 2nd-place Odd on goal difference, which will be a definite incentive after losing to them 2-0 earlier in the week. Newly promoted Brann have been defying expectations during their first season returning to the top division, but cannot be considered winners for this fixture. The team have lost 3 of their last 4 matches on the road, and average less than 1 goal scored per game. Lars Arne Nilsen’s squad lack the attacking threat required to compete with the strong Molde side, and will most likely be easily overwhelmed once more. We predict that the home side will be able to take all the points in style for this afternoon league fixture, with Molde winning by at least 2 goals. |
05-21-16 | Jubilo Iwata v. Ventforet Kofu | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Ventforet Kofu @ Jubilo Iwata Ventforet Kofu travel to the Yamaha Stadium to face Júbilo Iwata in a mid-table J1 League clash, with both teams predicted to take a share of the spoils in a closely contested draw. Newly-promoted hosts Júbilo have experienced mixed fortunes in the top division this season, with 4 victories, draws and defeats recorded so far. Hiroshi Nanami’s squad have won just a single home match in 5 attempts, and are entering the fixture on the back of 3 defeats in 4 matches across all competitions. Despite conceding among the highest number of goals in the Japanese top-flight, Júbilo do have the services of former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd, leading the club’s scoring charts with 6 goals, and helping to limit the damage. Visitors Ventforet have likewise struggled with defensive issues in their opening matches of the campaign, but have managed to pick up several draws recently. Satoru Sakuma’s team have drawn their previous 4 away matches, largely avoiding defeat with high scoring Brazilian forward Cristiano, also on 6 league goals this season. Despite the differences in league standings, there’s little to separate Júbilo and Ventforet on paper, and I predict that this  match will end with both teams earning a point each in a draw. |
05-20-16 | River Plate v. ARSENAL DE SARANDI | 1-2 | Win | 138 | 4 h 52 m | Show
River Plate @ Arsenal Arsenal de Sarandi host River Plate for the evening’s Argentine Primera Division Group A match, with the hosts tipped to claim victory at the Estadio Julio H. Grondona. The hosts enter the fixture having lost their previous league match 2-0 against Indepediente last weekend. However, Arsenal will still be expected to perform well for the game due to their impressive home record, losing just 1 of their last 7 matches in front of their supporters. Currently 4th in the Group A standings, Fernando de la Rosa’s men will be confident of continuing their run with a positive performance, taking all 3 points over their struggling opponents. Last season’s Copa Libertadores winners have encountered several difficulties so far this campaign, languishing in 9th position. Los Millonarios have won just a single game on their travels in 7 attempts, with only 4 league victories in total. River Plate have scored just 3 times in their recent 5 games, and despite appearing to have fixed their early defensive problems, may still struggle in this fixture, Arsenal fans should look forward a home win this evening over a lacklustre River Plate, taking all the points and pushing themselves above Indepediente into 3rd. |
05-20-16 | Philadelphia Union -106 v. DC United | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 4 h 50 m | Show
DC United @ Philadelphia Union Philadelphia Union welcome DC United for the evening’s MLS Easter Conference fixture, with the hosts considered favourites for the win. Philadelphia will aim to use the home advantage and top the table, currently just 2 points below leaders New York City with 2 games to spare. Undefeated at the Talen Energy Stadium this season, the Union will be confident of continuing the excellent run against a struggling DC United side, who in contrast have yet to win on the road. United have won 4 of the previous 5 league encounters between the two close rivals, adding extra incentive for Jim Curtin’s side to take revenge and claim victory. DC United have found away fixtures difficult in recent times, and their offerings this season have been no different, managing to earn just 3 points from their travels. Ben Olsen’s side have been heavily reliant on catching their opposition off guard with fast counter-attacking play. However, their tactics are unlikely to succeed against the Union, currently boasting the second-best defence across the MLS Conferences. Considering Philadelphia’s spotless home record, United’s dismal away results, and the current league standings, MLS supporters should expect the hosts to comfortably take all 3 points this evening. |
05-19-16 | KALMAR FF v. DJURGARDENS IF -0.5 | 3-0 | Loss | -138 | 3 h 6 m | Show
Kalmar @ Djurgarden Djurgarden host Kalmar in the Swedish Allsvenskan at the Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm today. The home side really should collect all three points today against a very weak Kalmar side who are currently sit third bottom in the league. Djurgarden have won three of their four home games this season at home and apart from that one loss have knocked in a minimum of three goals in each of their home wins. Kalmar on the other hand have yet to register a win on the road in their four road games losing two and drawing two, they have yet to score more than once in any game on their away trips and I see them struggling again today. Djurgarden are not setting the world on fire, they are just three points ahead of Kalmar, but they are good at home and Kalmar are weak away. Whatever way I look at this game, all I see is a home win. |
05-19-16 | Gefle IF v. Orebro +116 | 0-4 | Win | 116 | 2 h 28 m | Show
Orebro @ Gefle Third placed Orebro travel to second bottom Gefle in the Swedish Allsvenskan today. On paper this is quite a one sided affair and apart from the odd result the statistics do favour Orebro to collect all three points from this game. Gefle at home this season have won none, drawn twice and lost twice and in their last seven games, home and away, have collected just a single point, they have lost their last four games on the bounce and are in what can only be described as a slump. Orebro have won four of their last five games and are on a two match winning streak, however, their away record is inconsistent, winning two and losing two, including their last game on the road to third bottom Kalmar. That said, Orebro are clearly the better team, they are in form at the moment and do have momentum from a two game winning run, whereas Gefle are in a serious slump and there is little reason to think that will change today. All things considreed I am going for a straight away win |
05-18-16 | Liverpool v. Sevilla FC OVER 2.5 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 17 m | Show
Liverpool V Sevilla English Premier league side Liverpool meet Spanish outfit Sevilla in the Europa League final today in what promises to be an exciting cup final. As well as winning the trophy, the winners will also qualify for next seasons Champions League as neither managed to achieve that through their own leagues. Both these teams have significant European pedigree, Sevilla have won this competition for the last two seasons, while Liverpool are multiple Champions League winners and one of European soccer royals. It is difficult to pick a winner in this game, both sides have good claims and there is probably little between them, though if you took a line through Villarreal, the team that Liverpool beat in the semi finals and Sevilla's domestic opponent, then Liverpool come out on top, but that is a very tenuous method. The bottom line is that it really is guesswork to try and predict a winner in this game and that is no way to bet, but the does not mean there is not an excellent opportunity to be had. This game screams overs to me, both these teams have questionable defences, while at the same time they have forward lines that know how to score,, any look at their results in this competition shows that. All things considered I am very confident this game will be overs. |
05-17-16 | Manchester United -1 v. AFC Bournemouth | 3-1 | Win | 102 | 5 h 48 m | Show
Bournemouth @  Man Utd The Premier League finally concludes this evening when Bournemouth once again travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, with the hosts expected to win by at least 2 goals. Manchester United have struggled with some inconsistent form this season, most recently letting their hopes of Champions League qualification slip after defeat to West Ham. The Red Devils are tied on points with 5th placed Southampton, and would need just a single point to claim the automatic Europa League position, but will throw everything forward to ensure nothing is left to chance. Louis van Gaal’s team boast the second-best home record in the Premier League, and will be aiming to restore their confidence with a comprehensive victory at Old Trafford. The players know that a strong result would be needed before the crucial FA Cup final at Wembley this weekend, and a victory by at least 2 goals would achieve a much-needed morale boost. Visitors Bournemouth have exceeded their expectations by avoiding relegation from the top division, but cannot be considered as potential winners this evening. The Cherries have been week in attack throughout the season, and will struggle to muster any sort of meaningful attack against the Premier League’s best defence. Eddie Howe’s men have already achieved their target for the campaign, and will likely be distracted with the prospect of the summer break. In summary, Manchester United are predicted to comfortably see off Bournemouth tonight, winning by a margin of 2 goals or more. |
05-17-16 | Hull City v. Derby County | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 58 m | Show
Derby County @ Hull City Hull City host Derby County at the KC Stadium this evening for the second leg of the Championship playoff semi-final, in a fixture that we predict will end in a draw. Hull City continued an excellent season with a resounding 3-0 away victory over their opponents during the first leg of the fixture, but will struggle to repeat the result at home. Derby easily won both of their encounters throughout the regular season, and were the only side in the league to take all three points at the KC Stadium, winning 2-0 back in November. Steve Bruce’s men will probably be content to sit back and avoid a high tempo game, conserving their energy and limiting the possibility of injuries ahead of the play-off final against Sheffield Wednesday. Meanwhile, travelling Derby County will be severely demotivated after their terrible performance in the previous fixture at Pride Park. Darren Walsall’s side are likely to put everything into attack nonetheless in the desperate hope of overturning the massive deficit, but just don’t appear to have enough to beat Hull at this stage of the season. Championship supporters should expect the game to end all square in a tie, with the hosts Derby progressing to the play-off final. |
05-17-16 | AALBORG BK -0.5 v. AGF Aarhus | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 54 m | Show
Aalborg BK @ AGF Aarhus AGF Aarhus welcome Aalborg BK in a Danish Superliga fixture at the Ceres Park this evening, with the visitors considered favourites to claim victory. Newly-promoted hosts Aarhus have been struggling in the top division of Danish football this season, and remain just three points above Esbjerg and the relegation zone. Last week, the Whites won their first game in 11 attempts, though it seems doubtful that Glen Riddersholm’s squad will be able to follow it up with a successive victory. AGF lost the season’s previous home fixture against Aalborg back in August, and will be vulnerable to another defeat with their poor defensive record. Although visitors Aalborg lost to league leaders Copenhagen in their most recent league fixture, Lars Søndergaard’s team have been excellent over the past few weeks, winning 5 of their last 7 matches. One of their wins included a 3-0 home thrashing of 4th placed Brøndby, and another 3 points this evening would cause Aalborg to leapfrog them and claim the position. The AaB team will be motivated by the prospect of potential European qualification, and should be able to repeat their previous result at Ceres Park by brushing Aarhus aside. Aalborg BK to cover the spread and win the evening’s match against AGF Aarhus and take all three points. |
05-16-16 | Brighton & Hove Albion +124 v. Sheffield Wednesday | 1-1 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 55 m | Show
Sheffield Wednesday @ Brighton Brighton and Hove Albion welcome Sheffield Wednesday for the second leg of their semi-final play-off tie, and the hosts are predicted to claim victory at the Amex Stadium. Brighton enter the fixture knowing that a win by a 3 goal margin will be required of them, having lost the reverse fixture at Hillsborough 2-0. The Seagulls can take some confidence from their form this season though, having lost just 3 times in front of their supporters and currently unbeaten in their last 10 home games. Chris Hughton’s side will be aiming to continue their positive results, and should be considered favourites for the win this evening. Sheffield Wednesday will be aware that the tie is far from over, and despite carrying a 2 goal lead to the south coast, will need to overcome their poor away form in order to ensure progression to the play-off final. The Owls are without a win in their previous 3 away games, and were only able to take a point during their last visit to the Amex in March. Carlos Carvalhal’s team have lost more games on the road than they’ve won this season, and it’s difficult to see anything other than a Brighton victory today. Although it may not be enough to get to the final, Brighton and Hove Albion are certainly going to be motivated by the home support and the prospect of promotion, and are expected to beat Sheffield Wednesday in this match. |
05-16-16 | DJURGARDENS IF v. AIK OVER 2.5 | 0-2 | Loss | -123 | 3 h 12 m | Show
Djurgarden @ AIK AIK welcome Djurgarden to the Friends Arena this evening for a mid-table Stockholm derby clash that promises to provide plenty of entertainment and at least 3 goals. Hosts AIK will be entering the fixture with some confidence after managing a 3-2 away win against Hacken last weekend. Jonny Jergander’s side have struggled so far this campaign, currently far below their 3rd place finish last season, and will be hoping to receive a much-needed boost with a positive result against rivals Djurgarden. There have been a remarkable 26 goals in AIK fixtures, averaging 3.25 goals a game, and the heated derby match should certainly provide a similar amount this evening. Visiting opposition Djurgarden have also encountered difficulties during the early stages of the Allsvenskan, with 4 wins and 4 losses recorded. As with AIK, Per Olsson’s team have been involved in several high-scoring matches, with 6 games featuring 3 or more goals. Djurgarden lost their previous Stockholm derby in August last season, and will be aiming to play to their attacking strengths to settle the score today. Both AIK and Djurgarden have seen a lot of action in their opening league games, and supporters can expect more of the same again this evening, with a total of at least 3 goals predicted. |
05-16-16 | FK HAUGESUND v. VALERENGA IF -0.5 | 1-0 | Loss | -119 | 2 h 14 m | Show
Haugesund @ Valerenga Valerenga host high-flying Haugesund in the afternoon Norwegian Tippeligaen match, with the home team expected to claim all three points with a victory at the Ullevaal Stadion. Valerenga had a dismal start to the season, losing their first four fixtures and dropping to the bottom of the league table. However, Kjetil Rekdal’s team have steadily improved in recent weeks, particularly with performances in front of their home support. Valerenga have comfortably won each of their past three games at the Ullevaal, and fans will be confident that their good run will continue against Haugesund. The Bohemians completed the double over their opponents last season, and will be aiming to do so once again this time round. Haugesund are seven positions above Valerenga, currently enjoying 4th in the league standings. Although the Araberne have registered some strong results so far, Mark Dempsey’s squad have struggled on their travels this season, losing three of the last four away games. Combined with their historic difficulty against Valerenga, it’s hard to see Haugesund taking anything from today’s game. Valerenga have put their awful start to the season firmly behind them, and maintain an excellent home record. Therefore, the hosts should be considered favourites for the match and beat Haugesund this afternoon. |
05-15-16 | Sporting Kansas City v. Orlando City SC +0.5 | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 54 m | Show
Orlando City @ Sporting Kansas City Orlando City will travel to the Children’s Mercy Park on Sunday afternoon, to face Sporting Kansas City in a fixture that the visitors are unlikely to lose. Western Conference hosts Sporting KC enjoyed a strong start to the MLS season, initially picking up 4 victories in their first 5 matches. However, Peter Vermes’ side have not won any of their past 7 games since beating New York Red Bulls in early April, and show little sign of improving. A humiliating loss to bottom side Houston Dynamo last weekend demonstrated Sporting’s current lack of threat, and they should pose little problems for Orlando. The Lions have also encountered their fair share of issues this season, currently suffering a 5 match run without a win. However, Orlando City continue to provide promising performances each week, and will be confident of taking something from today’s match, having drawn their past 2 games. The only previous MLS encounter between the two sides ended with a comfortable win for Orlando, and they will be eager for a repeat result today. Neither team enter the game in great form, but Orlando have the slight edge and should be able to earn a share of the points today at the very least. Sporting KC supporters should not expect a home win, and will extend their run to 8 matches without a victory. |
05-15-16 | Udinese v. Carpi FC 1909 +218 | 1-2 | Win | 218 | 7 h 14 m | Show
Carpi @ Udinese The Serie A draws to a conclusion this evening when relegation-threatened Carpi travel to Udinese, where they should have enough to earn the necessary three points. Hosts Udinese have endured an awful second half to the season, picking up just four wins since the start of the year. Although the Zebrette have earned victories over some of the top teams, such as Napoli, they have continued to struggle against sides in the bottom half of the table, only narrowly avoiding relegation themselves. The previous encounter between the two opponents ended in Carpi’s favour, and based on Udinese’s recent form supporters can expect to see a repeat result. Carpi enter the match just a single point behind fellow strugglers Palermo, and will be well aware that bottom side Verona would have to earn at least a draw against the Rosanero to hand Fabrizio Castori’s team any opportunity to remain in Serie A. The visitors have improved their form in recent months, picking up wins against the other relegation threatened teams, and know that they can do so again at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, having already beaten Udinese in the reverse fixture. With everything to play for, and in slightly better form, visitors Carpi should have enough to overcome Udinese and earn an important victory. |
05-15-16 | Lazio v. Fiorentina +0.5 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 12 m | Show
Fiorentina @ Lazio For their final match of the season, Lazio welcome Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico, with the visitors expected to earn at least a point in the closely-contested fixture. Although hosts Lazio have picked up consecutive wins against Inter Milan and Carpi this month, Simone Inzaghi’s side have struggled throughout the season and are guaranteed to finish a disappointing 8th place in the league standings. The Biancocelesti have won just five of their past thirteen home games, and despite boasting an excellent record against Fiorentina, will most likely not earn another victory today. Lazio are missing influential pair Lucas Biglia and Filip Djordjevic through suspension, and will not have enough to finish off their opponents. Likewise, Fiorentina’s position in Serie A will not be affected by tonight’s outcome, with La Viola already securing Europa League football for next season. While frequently struggling against Lazio in the past, including losing the reverse fixture 3-1, Paulo Sousa’s squad have an impressive record away from home. Having struggled in goalless draws against lowly Chievo and Palermo in recent weeks, Fiorentina will be hopeful of finishing the campaign with a positive result in Rome this evening. Fiorentina supporters should expect their team to earn a share of the spoils in this fixture, earning either a draw or victory against Lazio. |
05-15-16 | Newcastle United v. Tottenham Hotspur -0.5 | 5-1 | Loss | -129 | 3 h 31 m | Show
Tottenham Hotspur @ Newcastle United Tottenham Hotspur travel to St. James’ Park this afternoon, where they will be expected to comfortably win against an already relegated Newcastle United. While the league title has slipped from their reach in recent weeks, Spurs still have plenty to play for, and a positive result today will confirm their place above local rivals Arsenal for the first time in 21 years. The Lilywhites will be motivated to achieve the feat, and by the news that manager Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a long-term contract with the club. Travelling supporters should expect confident, attacking football as a result, including top goalscorer Harry Kane seeking to reinforce his challenge for the Golden Boot. In stark contrast, Newcastle cannot be predicted to take anything from this match, with their fate in the Championship sealed following Sunderland’s victory earlier in the week. Several players will be focused on their futures elsewhere, and Magpies’ boss Rafa Benitez will probably be among them. Despite previously claiming victory at White Hart Lane, the Tyneside club are not going to pose any threat to Spurs, who will encounter no problems in earning all three points. Tottenham supporters should be confident of an easy win this afternoon, bringing an excellent season to a close. |

05-14-16 | Montreal Impact -132 v. Philadelphia Union | 1-1 | Loss | -132 | 5 h 45 m | Show
Philadelphia Union @ Montreal Impact Montreal Impact host fellow high-flyers Philadelphia Union in the MLS Eastern Conference match, with the Impact favourites to claim victory and retain their position at the top of the table. Montreal will enter the fixture with plenty of confidence as the league leaders, having come back from three goals down to rescue a 4-4 draw against Columbus Crew last weekend. The Impact boast the Eastern Conference’s best goalscoring record so far, with the prolific trio of Ignacio Piatti, Dominic Oduro and Didier Drogba netting 13 times between them, and will certainly be able to trouble even the Union’s sturdy defence. Philadelphia have enjoyed reasonably good results recently, including grinding out a draw against LA Galaxy earlier in the week, taking them within a point of the Eastern Conference summit with a game to spare. Although the Union have had success at home, their travelling form has been less than impressive, losing three of their four away games this season. While their young back line has remained relatively intact, Impact’s experienced front three should be able to cause all sorts of problems at the Saputo Stadium tonight, further extending their problems on the road. I am confident that Montreal Impact will simply be too strong for the travelling Philadelphia Union, and will emerge winners to solidify their claim at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference. |

05-14-16 | AC Milan v. Roma +140 | 1-3 | Win | 140 | 4 h 4 m | Show
Roma @ Milan The Serie A conclusion continues this evening with a high-profile match between AC Milan and AS Roma, with the visitors looking to take all three points. Milan have struggled as the season comes to a close, failing to register a victory in their recent matches against the bottom three teams Carpi, Verona and Frosinone. Christian Brocchi’s squad laboured to a 1-0 victory against Bologna last weekend, and their form suggests that they cannot be considered favourites against a strong Roma side tonight. Roma have been excellent this season in the Serie A, recording just 4 losses; the lowest of any Italian team in the top division. I Giallorossi are currently on a 16-game unbeaten run in the league, with their last defeat coming to Juventus in January. Luciano Spalletti’s team could potentially finish in second place above Napoli with a victory at the San Siro, and will be motivated to give their all despite Champions League qualification already secured. All things considered the value is in backing Roma at some very tempting odds, which I will be doing. |
05-14-16 | AFC Wimbledon v. Accrington | 1-0 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 43 m | Show
Accrington Stanley @ AFC Wimbledon The Football League Two semi-final play-off between AFC Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley begins at the Kingsmeadow Stadium this evening. Hosts Wimbledon are in the play-offs for the first time, and will be looking to advance to the final with a repeat of their earlier encounters against Accrington. Little separated the sides in October, with the Dons securing a slender 4-3 away victory, before a goalless draw at home in March. Neal Ardley’s squad have enjoyed reasonable results in front of their fans this campaign, but will be satisfied with a tie against a strong in-form Accrington. Stanley have spent the longest tenure in League Two of any present club, and are seeking promotion after an excellent end to the season, currently on a 12-game unbeaten run. John Coleman’s team narrowly missed out on automatic promotion due to goal difference with Bristol Rovers, though should remain motivated to continue their recent form. However, they have faltered against Wimbledon this season and will be without key midfielder Matt Crooks who remains absent with injury. Neither side appear to hold an advantage over their opponents, and supporters should expect a close draw to play out between Wimbledon and Accrington this evening. |
05-14-16 | Barnsley v. Walsall OVER 2.5 | 3-0 | Win | 103 | 3 h 36 m | Show
Walsall @ Barnsley The Football League One semi-final play-offs begin with Walsall travelling to Barnsley, in what promises to be an entertaining match with at least 3 goals scored. Barnsley edged into the play-off fixture on goal difference, having swept aside league winners Wigan Athletic 4-1 last weekend. Paul Heckingbottom’s side have already won silverware this season with the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, and will be aiming to end the campaign strongly by also securing promotion to the Championship. The South Yorkshire club will be entering the match confidently, with the last encounter between the two teams entirely in Barnsley’s favour. Meanwhile, Walsall have been given a massive boost as top scorer Tom Bradshaw has been cleared to play after receiving permission from the Welsh FA. Jon Whitney’s squad has one of the best goal differences in the league, and supporters can expect their remarkable recent results to continue. In Walsall’s past 4 matches, an average of 4 goals have been scored, and there’s no reason to believe that today’s fixture won’t be as action-packed. Based on recent form and previous matches between Barnsley and Walsall, it’s difficult to predict which side will win, but there’s no doubt that at least 3 goals will be scored tonight at the Bescot Stadium. |
05-13-16 | DC United v. New York Red Bulls | 2-0 | Win | 125 | 6 h 37 m | Show
New York Red Bulls @ DC United Friday evening’s MLS Eastern Conference game sees DC United face New York Red Bulls, with the hosts favourites to take at least a point from the fixture. The previous encounter between the two teams was last season’s semi-finals, when the Red Bulls won both legs 1-0. DC United will therefore have additional incentive to win this evening, and would overtake their opponents in the league standings with a victory. Earlier in the week, United lost at home to New York City FC, and both players and supporters will be hoping to recover from the defeat with a positive result. Although the Red Bulls enter the fixture in decent form, having won two of their past three matches, the team are unlikely to snatch a win. Ben Olsen’s side have been disappointing on their travels, earning just one point in five away games, with only the Western Conference’s Houston Dynamo suffering a worse record. However the game plays out, I cannot see DC United losing and I am far more confident in this game being either a draw or a home win than the Red Bulls leaving the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium with a win. |
05-13-16 | Falkirk v. Hibernian | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 3 m | Show
Hibernian @ Falkirk Following the 2-2 draw earlier in the week, Falkirk and Hibernian will meet for the semi-final second-leg this evening, with the match expected to be close once again. Hibernian travel to the Falkirk Community Stadium knowing that a win would see them through to a second successive play-off final, having lost last year to Hamilton Academical. Hosts Falkirk are equally motivated for the result though, after previously finishing just outside the play-off positions. The two Scottish Championship sides have remained close throughout the campaign, with both ending the regular season on 70 points, and a difference of only 2 goals in favour of Falkirk. In head-to-head encounters, Hibernian hold a slight advantage with a 1-0 victory earned in October. However, the past four matches have all ended in stalemate and it would seem likely that tonight’s fixture will continue the trend. With no new injury concerns, the line-ups are expected to be similar to Tuesday’s game, and supporters should expect the tie to be just as tight. An all-important place in the finals is at stake and both teams will be eager to give everything to the fixture. I cannot see any other result than a draw after 90 minutes. |
05-13-16 | Sheffield Wednesday v. Brighton & Hove Albion | 2-0 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 0 m | Show
Brighton and Hove Albion @ Sheffield Wednesday The Championship play-off semi-finals kick-off this evening, when Brighton and Hove Albion travel to Sheffield Wednesday, in what promises to be a close fixture. The hosts have been absent from the Premier League since relegation in 2000, and advancing through the play-offs offers the club’s best prospect in recent seasons for a return to the top-flight. Although Sheffield have won just one of their past six matches, their home form against the top sides has been consistent, only losing to Middlesbrough. The Owls drew the rest of their home matches against the top six, and I can see that happening again this evening. Brighton enter the match after a solid showing this campaign, racking up an impressive 89 points in the league table. While Chris Hughton’s men have broken club records for form this season, the Seagulls may be slightly demotivated after narrowly missing out on automatic promotion by goal difference. Furthermore, the team will be missing key midfielder Dale Stephens due to a three-match suspension, with his absence likely to impact Brighton’s attacking chances tonight. As a result, supporters can expect a draw to play out between Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton at Hillsborough, with little to separate the two teams. |
05-13-16 | Helsingborgs IF v. JONKOPINGS SODRA | 1-1 | Win | 260 | 1 h 59 m | Show
Helsingborg @ Jonkopings Sodra Today’s Allsvenskan mid-table clash between J-Sodra and Helsingborg promises to be a close-fought match, with hardly anything to separate the two on paper. Newly-promoted hosts J-Sodra started the season strongly, claiming victories over Kalmar, Malmo and Gefle. However, Jimmy Thelin’s men have since faltered in the top division, currently on four matches without a win, including defeat to league leaders Norrkoping last weekend. The team will therefore enter their match tonight aiming to bounce back with a positive result, though face sturdy competition and may have to settle for another draw. Visitors Helsingborg have also endured mixed fortunes so far this campaign, with hard-won matches soured by significant losses against Hammarby and Norrkoping. Indeed, their defence have struggled under pressure, with one of the worst goal differences of any side outside of the relegation zone. Although Henrik Larsson’s team have steadily improved as the season progresses, securing three wins in their recent four league games, they have continued to strain on the road. Helsingborg have emerged victorious just once away from home this season, and must be considered unlikely to take all the points at J-Sodra.        All things considered, both sets of fans should expect a share of the points tonight, with a draw between J-Sodra and Helsingborg on the cards. |
05-12-16 | TROMSO IL v. SOGNDAL IL -0.5 | 0-0 | Loss | -122 | 5 h 39 m | Show
Tromso @ Sogndal Tromso travel to Sogndal in the Norwegian Eliteserien today in a game between two teams expected to struggle as the season unfolds. In fairness to Sogndal they are doing far better than what I thought they would do this season and even when they have lost they have been competitive, not something you can always say about Tromso. Sogndal registered their first win in five league games last week when they beat Aalesund 4-1 away from home, a fantastic win, that was following a very impressive 1-1 home draw with league leaders and favourites for the title, Rosenborg. Tromso have won just once in their last five league games, losing the other four and a couple of those losses include away losses to Valerenga 4-0 and Aalesund 6-0, when Tromso lose they tend to do it in style. Sogndal have lost just the once at home this season from four games while Tromso have not won an away game from their five games on the road, in fact, Tromso have scored just once away from home and conceded 13, while Sogndal have conceded just two goals at home. Whatever way I look at this it screams home win and that is exactly the way I am going on this game. |
05-12-16 | AALESUNDS FK v. SARPSBORG 08 -0.5 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 27 m | Show
Aalesunds @ Sarpsborg 08 14th placed Aalesunds travel to 9th place Sarpsborg 08 today in the Norwegian Eliteserien. I really like the look of Sarpsborg, they may not be the most consistent team in Norway, but when they are in the mood they can beat almost anybody. Sarpsborg did lose their most recent game away to Valerenga in a humbling 3-0 loss, however, before that they had won three on the trot including a magnificent 4-0 win over Molde, regarded as one of the best two teams in Norway, that really was an impressive performance. Aalesunds on the other hand have won just once in their last eight league games, losing six and drawing once and in their most recent game they lost at home 4-1 to Sogndal. Sarpsborg should be able to put the Valerenga loss behind them, it was always going to be a difficult game for them and they will bounce back, not sure the same can be said about Aalesund, they can fold quickly, have not won away from home in their four road games and scored just the once, a stark contrast to Sarpsborg home record of just one loss. All things considered I have this game to be a home win for Sarpsborg and for them to cover the spread. |
05-11-16 | Liverpool -0.5 v. Chelsea | 1-1 | Loss | -125 | 6 h 39 m | Show
Chelsea @ Liverpool There is a lot of history between these two and while a lot of games at this stage of the season can be classed as meaningless, especially when you have teams mid table, this is not one of them, certainly not for Liverpool anyway. The problem for Chelsea is that they are not playing to stop anyone, they showed against Tottenham what they can do if they really try, but of course they reverted to type by losing to Sunderland in the very next game. Chelsea would have to be at their best to beat Liverpool and I just do not see that being the case, unless it is really personal to them, they do not try. Chelsea do not like Liverpool, that is true, but their dislike for them is not enough for them to be able to raise their game to a level that would give them victory. Liverpool always have an advantage when at home, especially in an evening game in England and they really do not like Chelsea, a club that they find crass and provocative. Liverpool know they have a good opportunity to get one over Chelsea and will be focussed, for Chelsea there is nothing in this for them, if they were able to stop Liverpool winning a trophy or something then they would play out of their skins, but that is not the case. Liverpool have been the better team this season and they are up against a team that basically do not care, they have that all important home advantage and they will definitely be up for this game, certainly more than Chelsea. All things considered I take Liverpool to cover the spread. |
05-11-16 | Norwich City v. Watford OVER 2.5 | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 11 m | Show
Watford @ Norwich City Could be a competitive match this one, Watford are not a club that gives up when there is nothing to play for, while Norwich do have something to play for, their Premier League survival. The result of this match may end up being meaningless if Sunderland win their game against Everton, if that happens then Norwich and Newcastle United will join Aston Villa and be relegated, regardless of the final result. Norwich are playing at the same time as Sunderland, obviously they will know the score throughout the game, but their focus from kick off will be to get all three points. Watford will not be easy to dispatch, they are not a bad side and will be hard for Norwich to break down, Norwich have lost their last four games without scoring, which makes this all the more harder. Norwich will have a passionate home crowd urging them on and I do expect them to finally find the back of the net, it is a shame for them that their dip in form has happened at the critical part of the season. But while I believe that Norwich will score I also think the same about Watford, as stated above they are not a team that gives up simply because there is nothing to play for, plus their manager is under pressure and the players hold him in high regard and will want to win for him. All things considered I see both teams scoring at least once, even Norwich and it is more likely that one of them will score twice than not, you have to remember that Norwich must score, they will go all out to score, which means that they will either achieve that or leave themselves wide open at the back as they throw men forward. Everything is set up for this game to go overs and that is exactly what I will be backing. |
05-11-16 | Stromsgodset v. MOLDE FK -0.5 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 10 m | Show
Stromsgodset @ Molde Molde have hit a little bump in the road over their last couple of games and are up against a Stromsgodset side that have hit a rich vein of form. However, I am confident that Molde will get back to winning ways today and stop the away side in their tracks and bring the current good run to an end. Molde are one of the top sides in the Norwegian league, they are one of the favourites to win the title and until their last couple of games they had been playing to form. It should also be noted that one of those recent losses was in the Cup and they fielded a very weakened team, they also bounced back with two wins following a massive 4-0 loss to Sarpsborg earlier in the season and I see no reason why they cannot do that again. Stromsgodset are on a five game unbeaten run in the league, winning four of those games and so they are clearly in form, but playing away at a wounded Molde is not the ideal game to keep an unbeaten run going. I accept that Stromsgodset are on form, but Molde are the better team, they may be showing some signs of inconsistency, but I am confident they will get back on track today and register a home win. |
05-10-16 | West Ham United v. Manchester United | 3-2 | Win | 113 | 4 h 20 m | Show
Man Utd @ West Ham West Ham United will host Manchester United in their final game at the Boleyn Ground, and can be expected to dent their opponents’ chances of a top-four finish by taking a share of the points this evening. West Ham have been a thorn in United’s side, playing the Red Devils three times this season in the Premier League and FA Cup. The Hammers drew on the first two occasions, and United were forced to throw everyone into defence to edge past them in the FA Cup replay match. The club have remained at their stadium since 1904, and the West Ham players will be desperate to give it a fitting send-off before their move to the Olympic Stadium. While Louis van Gaal’s men are unbeaten in their past six matches in all competitions, their performances have been inconsistent and lucky at best. Without talismanic forward Anthony Martial during their match against lowly Norwich, the United attack were toothless and posed little threat. Martial remains injured, and facing a team vying for Europa League qualification, the Red Devils will struggle to create any meaningful chances. It is hard to see United taking a a win from this highly-charged fixture, and West Ham look good to  secure either a draw or home victory tonight. Take West Ham to cover the spread |
05-10-16 | Dundee Untied v. Partick Thistle | 3-3 | Push | 0 | 3 h 47 m | Show
Partick Thistle @ Dundee United Dundee United’s woes are not yet over, with the relegated side unlikely to win against Partick Thistle in their final home match of the Scottish Premiership campaign. United’s fate was sealed after derby defeat to local rivals Dundee, and their status remains uncertain after news that only four players have been told they have a future at the club. Although they overcame Inverness in an excellent 3-2 victory on Friday, a repeat performance against Partick is a tall order. A demotivated team with little to play for will probably feature inexperienced youth prospects, as caretaker manager Gordon Young decides to offer some senior playing-time with nothing at stake. Meanwhile, Partick Thistle’s squad will enter the fixture positively, with relegation play-off positions avoided and another season in Scotland’s top division guaranteed. They will enter as favourites for the tie, having beaten United in each of their previous three league encounters this season. Alan Archibald’s side have struggled in recent weeks though, and with a number of players sidelined through injury, a draw may still be possible. Either way, I am confident that Partick Thistle will cover the spread on this one |
05-08-16 | LA Galaxy -0.5 v. New England Revolution | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 22 h 43 m | Show
New England Revolution @ LA Galaxy LA Galaxy supporters should expect to celebrate another home victory when they host Eastern Conference struggler's New England Revolution at the StubHub Center on Sunday. The LA Galaxy have opened the season strongly, losing just one of their eight league matches, and remaining undefeated at home. Bruce Arena’s men lead MLS scoring charts with 18 goals, and will be likely to cause Revolution’s disorganised defence some serious trouble. The team have impressed home fans with large score-lines against Real Salt Lake, DC United and San Jose Earthquakes, and are set to do so once again, with striker Giovani dos Santos in excellent form recently. New England Revolution are unlikely to pose much of a threat to their hosts, as Jay Heaps’ squad continues to search for their first away victory of the campaign. Although often avoiding defeat, the Revolution have encountered difficulties in attack, recording a remarkable seven ties in ten matches. The coach has admitted being frustrated with their problems in front of goal, and their woes will probably continue against one of the league’s tightest defensive units. LA Galaxy are clear favourites for the victory on Sunday, with their superior attack and defence likely to overwhelm New England. Take LA Galaxy to cover the spread |
05-08-16 | Manchester City v. Arsenal | 2-2 | Push | 0 | 20 h 47 m | Show
Arsenal @ Manchester City Manchester City host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow afternoon, and will be considered favourites for the win as both teams target a top-four finish in the league. Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping to wish a fond farewell to the City faithful with a home victory as the Citizens chase Champions League qualification, well aware that rivals United are just a single point behind. After a disappointing end to their European campaign, City will be aiming to put their frustrations behind them and retain their position. The players will be motivated to continue their efforts until the final whistle, with incoming manager Pep Guardiola certainly keeping an eye on their performances. Although Arsenal initially boasted a strong away record this season, their recent travels have left much to be desired, including a lacklustre stalemate to relegation-threatened Sunderland. The Gunners have struggled in attack and are unlikely to frighten the City defence. Main striker Olivier Giroud has not registered a league goal since January, and rumours of a rift between Alexis Sanchez and Arsene Wenger could further disrupt their chances. Arsenal are a team without inspiration at the moment, while the Manchester City team are keen to prove themselves to their fans after the midweek loss to Real Madrid. All things considered I am taking Man City to cover the spread. |
05-08-16 | Getafe CF +114 v. Sporting Gijon | 1-1 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 44 m | Show
Sporting Gijon @ Getafe La Liga’s relegation battle could be decided on Sunday afternoon, with Getafe favourites to see off visitors Sporting Gijon in this important clash at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Despite currently being below their opponents on goal difference, Getafe enter the fixture as favourites due to recent form. Juan Esnaider’s team earned impressive away victories against Deportivo La Coruna and Real Sociedad, and were unlucky to draw at home to Valencia after dominating for large spells of the game. Indeed, Los Azulones have already beaten Gijon earlier in the league campaign and are tipped to repeat the result once more this weekend. Although Sporting have recorded shock home wins against high-flying Atlético Madrid and Sevilla in the past couple of months, their away form by contrast has been woeful. Aberlado Fernandez’s men have won just three times on the road this season, with the last occasion happening over Valencia back in January. Even fixtures against fellow relegation candidates has yielded poor results, including an away stalemate at already-condemned Levante. Both teams will be desperate to avoid relegation, but with the better recent results, and Sporting’s dismal travelling record, Getafe are firm favourites to claim the win and all three points this weekend. I am going for Getafe to win outright |
05-08-16 | Tottenham Hotspur -0.5 v. Southampton | 1-2 | Loss | -106 | 17 h 20 m | Show
Southampton @ Tottenham Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to end their season on Sunday, with the Lilywhites looking to take all three points when hosting Ronald Koeman’s Southampton at White Hart Lane. Despite falling just short of the Premier League title, Spurs players will be well aware that a victory would practically guarantee second-place. Significantly, the win would place the team above rivals Arsenal for the first time in 21 years, and securing the achievement in front of the home support would be a memorable result. The north London club have enjoyed an excellent campaign, and will want to reward their fans’ loyalty by ending it in style. Southampton will be desperate to pick up a result in their bid for a Europa League qualifiers position, but have struggled on the road this season. The Saints have equal numbers of wins, draws and losses away from home, with even their recent 4-2 victory over lowly Aston Villa unconvincing. In particular, the team have conceded at least once in their past ten matches, and will likely be punished by the strong Spurs attack. The reverse fixture at St. Mary’s Stadium in December finished in favour of Tottenham, and supporters can expect the same result again on Sunday. Take Tottenham to win and cover the spread |
05-07-16 | Vancouver Whitecaps v. Portland Timbers +0.5 | 2-1 | Loss | -135 | 26 h 50 m | Show
Portland Timbers @ Vancouver Whitecaps Vancouver Whitecaps will be hosting Portland Timbers at the BC Place this weekend, with the visitors looking good for a win in the hotly contested MLS Western Conference fixture. Defending champions Portland Timbers enjoy a good record over their opponents, including last season’s semi-final play off win. Despite a difficult start to the current campaign, the Timbers have gone undefeated in the past three games across all competitions and will be hoping to continue their momentum on Saturday. Caleb Porter’s squad have yet to claim a win on the road, but will be motivated by their Cascadia Cup rivalry to turn out a positive result for the travelling support. Vancouver have also endured a poor opening to the season, already falling to five league defeats. The Whitecaps’ leaky defence was a significant problem during their recent 3-2 defeat to New York City FC, and the team have shown little sign of improving. Although offering a reasonable home record, the advantage means little in this match-up, with Vancouver winning just one of their past seven games against Portland at the BC Place. Motivated to beat their rivals, and with a game in-hand over the Whitecaps, the Timbers are the pick to cover the spread. |
05-07-16 | Leicester v. Everton OVER 3 | 3-1 | Win | 105 | 21 h 57 m | Show
Everton @ Leicester City On Saturday evening, Leicester City will play their first match as Premier League champions, hosting Everton in what promises to be a goalfest. The Foxes will be providing their supporters with free refreshments in the stands, and will hope to compliment the gesture with entertainment on the pitch. Although the title has been secured, Leicester will be aiming to add to the celebrations with a victory over Everton. Claudio Ranieri’s men scored four times in their most recent home match over Swansea, and will be aiming to replicate the result against the Toffees. Meanwhile, Everton have been decent up-front this season, though lacking in defensive discipline and susceptible to errors. Roberto Martinez will be well aware that his job could be under threat, and will likely name an attacking line-up to spoil the party. In addition to selecting the prolific Romelu Lukaku, Everton will be aiming to capitalise on the three-match suspension of Robert Huth. The Leicester defender has played in all but one of the Premier League fixtures this season, and has been integral to the Foxes defence. Over the past couple of seasons, every match between these teams has provided plenty of goals and I expect at least three on Saturday, probably more. The totals is quite high to be fair, but I am confident that these two will not let us down. |
05-07-16 | Sunderland v. Chelsea | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 19 h 55 m | Show
Chelsea @ Sunderland Chelsea will encounter tough opposition tomorrow afternoon when they travel to face relegation candidates Sunderland, with a stalemate expected at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland are usually at the bottom end of the table towards the end of each season, though always manage to remain in the Premier League with stubborn performances. Manager Sam Allardyce was brought in because of his experience in these situations, and Sunderland will be desperate to out-do their local rivals Newcastle and avoid the drop. The Black Cats have managed several draws recently against attacking teams such as Arsenal and Southampton, and can surely hold out for another point with their defensive unit hosting Chelsea. The Blues mounted an impressive comeback against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the week, coming back from two goals down to hand the league title to Leicester. However, supporters should not expect the same result during the weekend, as Chelsea have nothing left to play for. Their players showed plenty of determination and passion against a rival, but with neither silverware nor European qualification an option, many will be more focused of their summer break. Unless there any surprises, the fixture looks like ending in a draw. Chelsea’s league results are no longer important, but Sunderland will lack the attacking firepower to threaten the Blues’ defence. All things considered a draw is the pick |
05-07-16 | Norwich City v. Manchester United -0.5 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 17 h 43 m | Show
Manchester United @ Norwich City One of the weekend’s most important matches will be contested at Carrow Road Saturday, when relegation-threatened Norwich host a Manchester United side pursuing Champions League qualification. Manchester United are favourites to take all three points in the fixture, boasting an excellent run of form over recent weeks. The Red Devils have lost just one of their last ten matches, with opposition including the likes of champions Leicester, Manchester City and West Ham. Positive results will have given the squad a significant morale boost in their push for a top-four finish, and it seems doubtful that United will squander their opportunity against a much weaker opponent. Meanwhile, Norwich’s fortunes are bleak in comparison, having lost three consecutive matches in which they have failed to score a goal. Defeats to fellow struggler's Sunderland and Crystal Palace prove that the Canaries will not have what it takes to threaten United, and the players seem resigned to relegation. While Norwich were able to edge out a victory the last time these two teams met in December, it should be noted that United were in the middle of an injury crisis at the time. With their current squad nearly fully fit and desperate to qualify for Europe ahead of their local rivals, another major upset won’t be on the cards. Truthfully, I cannot see any other result than a comfortable United win on Sunday, most likely putting at least a couple of goals past woeful Norwich. Take United to cover the spread |
