2019 NBA Power Rankings
Looking for 2018-19 NBA Power Rankings? The NBA’s All-Star break is nearly upon us, and this league continues to be as exciting as ever. One week removed from the trade deadline, we’ve seen plenty of shakeup around the league—both as far as players and spots in our rankings go.

As always, our rankings will look at the entire body of work for all 30 teams, with a specific emphasis on recent trends.
1. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are coming off a bad loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night, their final game going into All-Star Weekend. But that doesn’t change the fact that they’re also the best team heading into the NBA’s unofficial midseason break.

Despite not scoring in the fourth period, Kevin Durant has been on an offensive tear lately. His goose egg in the final period was problematic as the Blazers took full control, but he still finished with 32 points, making it clear he’s not to blame.
An eight-point possession by the Blazers (you read that right…) didn’t help, though, once Steve Kerr lost his cool and got tossed following a questionable Draymond Green technical foul.
2. Milwaukee Bucks
Coach Mike Budenholzer has put together a brilliant system around Giannis Antetokounmpo. He has shooters galore, allowing the Greek Freak to do his work in isolation and drive and kick on a regular basis.
Milwaukee has taken full advantage, but it does need to improve its efficiency when it comes to the deep ball.
Entering the All-Star break, though, they are clearly the second-best team in basketball.
3. Toronto Raptors
The third-best team in basketball, you ask? That would be Kawhi Leonard’s Toronto Raptors—although, Pascal Siakam made it known he’s no scrub (despite an All-Star snub) as he went for a career-best 44 points on Wednesday night.
This is a Raptors team that despite its current No. 3 ranking has fluctuated between 3 and the No. 1 spot all year. By our next rankings (2 weeks from now), they could very well eclipse the Bucks and/or Warriors.

4. Oklahoma City Thunder
Paul George is a man on a mission. What that mission is, exactly, is tough to say. MVP? A championship? People to stop talking about “why” he chose the Thunder over the Lakers?
Let’s just assume it’s “yes” “yes” and “yes” there.
PG13 is doing some serious work right now, and the Thunder are rolling.
(Oh yeah, Russell Westbrook just set an NBA record for 10 straight triple-doubles. This team probably wishes there was no such thing as an All-Star break so they could keep the momentum going.)
5. Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are a bit of a confusing team, but a big win on national TV on Tuesday bumps them up ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers—the team they beat—by a single spot. Jayson Tatum’s year has been a bit underwhelming, but he proved once again in that contest you can’t count him out, and that his value to the C’s may be even more apparent than his actual superstar ceiling.
6. Philadelphia 76ers
That loss to Boston may have knocked the Sixers down a spot in our rankings, but they’re still top-six for a reason. The recent acquisition of Tobias Harris is already paying dividends, and this team is now one of the few in the league that touts a legitimate Big Four with the former Clipper, Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler.
7. Denver Nuggets
Isaiah Thoams is back, having made his season debut with the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. He looked mostly good—especially in the third quarter—but the Nugs now have a crowded backcourt to try and find minutes for before the postseason begins.
8. Indiana Pacers
Indiana is doing everything it can to stay ahead of the Celtics in the rankings, and quite frankly, they probably deserve to be a spot higher in the rankings than this. But we need to see them continue playing well during the home stretch, as roster makeup and potential are taken into account in these rankings, and there are still a lot of questions to answer as they navigate a top-heavy Eastern Conference without their best player, Victor Oladipo, who is lost for the year.
9. Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers were set to sit one spot out of our Top 10. And then the game against Golden State happened.

Although the Warriors can shake it off and move on knowing they’re title favorites, a team like the Blazers can really turn a victory like this into a post-All-Star Game run. The fact that they just added Enes Kanter for pennies after he was bought out by the New York Knicks makes this jump to No. 9 even easier.
10. Houston Rockets
Although tempted to put the Utah Jazz here considering they’ve been one of the hottest teams in the league for a while now, we can’t ignore what James Harden is doing and the impact it’s having on his Rockets. He’s in an historically good mode right now, and Houston is riding that wave as a result.
