2026 Presidents Cup Free Picks
The 16th Presidents Cup brings us another United States vs. International Team matchup, and recent history hasn’t exactly been kind to the guys playing without the stars and stripes. Team USA enters with 10 consecutive Presidents Cup victories and a 13-1-1 record overall. That’s domination, not a trend.
The International Team gets another crack at changing the conversation this week, but it’ll have to do it on American soil against a U.S. roster loaded with some of the best players in the world.
There’s also a major difference between betting a 72-hole stroke-play tournament and betting team match play. Four-ball, foursomes, pairings, momentum, and eventually Sunday singles all come into play. The best golfer doesn’t automatically win every match. That’s what at least gives the International side a puncher’s chance to make this interesting.
This Week at the Presidents Cup
Brandt Snedeker captains an American roster that includes seven of the world’s top 10 players and 10 of the top 25 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Jackson Koivun and Patrick Cantlay are the only U.S. players outside that top-25 group. That’s some serious depth.
Geoff Ogilvy captains an International Team with only two players inside the top 25: Si Woo Kim and Ryan Fox. Fox also arrives with one of the biggest accomplishments of anyone in the field after winning The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale earlier this year. Fox is one of four Presidents Cup rookies on the International side. Nick Taylor, Ryo Hisatsune, and Nico Echavarria are the others.
The Americans mixed experience with some fresh blood among their captain’s picks. Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay have been through these team events before, while Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman, and Jackson Koivun get their opportunity.
On paper, there’s no comparison. The U.S. roster has combined for 12 major championships and 91 PGA Tour victories. The International roster has three majors and 49 Tour wins.
Golf, thankfully, isn’t played on paper.
Team USA has the deeper roster. The question for bettors is whether that advantage is big enough to justify laying -460 in a format where one ugly session can make things uncomfortable fast.
Scottie Scheffler Has Something to Prove
Scottie Scheffler is World No. 1 and has spent most of the year giving bettors plenty of reasons to fear betting against him. Team golf has been different.
Scheffler owns a 3-5-1 Presidents Cup record through his first two appearances. Among players since 2000 who have appeared in multiple Presidents Cups and won multiple majors, he’s the only one with a record below .500. That’s a strange stat attached to the best player in the world.
It also shows why I don’t want to treat this tournament like 12 individual stroke-play events stitched together. Scheffler can be the best player on the property and still lose an 18-hole match. Four-ball and foursomes introduce variables we don’t deal with during a normal PGA Tour week. Partners matter. Matchups matter.
And a guy can play pretty damn well and still watch the other side roll in a 25-footer on 18 to steal a point.
Jackson Koivun Gets His First Presidents Cup
Jackson Koivun might be the most interesting newcomer on either roster.
The 21-year-old earned a captain’s pick from Snedeker despite having made only seven professional starts. He already showed he belongs when he held off Scheffler to win the 3M Open earlier this year. Now he’s walking into a completely different environment.
Koivun becomes the second-youngest player to represent the United States in Presidents Cup history behind Jordan Spieth, who was 20 when he played in 2013. That’s a hell of an introduction to team golf. The talent isn’t the question. How Snedeker uses him and how Koivun handles the different rhythm of match play will be worth watching once the pairings start rolling out.
Why the 2026 Presidents Cup Creates a Different Betting Challenge
This isn’t our usual PGA Tour betting week. There isn’t a traditional outright board where I’m looking for four golfers at +3000, +6000, and +15000 and hoping somebody gets hot with the putter.
We’re betting teams.
That changes the math and it changes the way I want to approach the week. Team USA is -460 because the talent advantage is obvious and the history is ridiculous. The Americans have won 10 straight Presidents Cups.
The International Team has to find enough winning combinations over four-ball and foursomes to keep the scoreboard manageable before singles. That’s easier said than done against this roster. At the same time, laying -460 means we’re paying heavily for everything we already know. That’s the part bettors can’t ignore.
Knowing who the better team is and deciding whether the betting price is worth paying are two completely different questions.
Presidents Cup Experience Matters
The American advantage isn’t limited to world rankings and PGA Tour wins. Team USA also has considerably more experience in this style of golf because many of its players compete in the Ryder Cup during alternate years. Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay give Snedeker experienced options when he starts putting pairings together.
That matters.
Foursomes can make even great players look uncomfortable when the partnership doesn’t click. Four-ball creates a different challenge because one player can get aggressive while his partner keeps the hole alive. Captains have to figure out which personalities and games work together.
Sometimes it looks obvious beforehand. Sometimes we’re three holes into a Friday session wondering why the hell those two were paired in the first place.
International Team Has Less Room for Error
The International Team isn’t walking into Medinah without talent. Ryan Fox is an Open champion. Si Woo Kim gives Ogilvy another top-25 player, and Nick Taylor, Ryo Hisatsune, and Nico Echavarria bring some fresh blood to the roster.
The problem is depth. The Americans can send elite players out session after session without giving the International side many comfortable places to attack.
That’s where the talent gap can start showing up over four days.
The International Team doesn’t necessarily need its stars to dominate every match, but it can’t afford to waste many opportunities either. A missed short putt or a bad closing hole means more in this format because every point gets added directly to the scoreboard. Momentum gets talked about too much in sports sometimes. In match play, you can actually see the damn thing moving.

Last Presidents Cup
The United States won the Presidents Cup again in 2024, extending an already massive run of success in the event. There was no Presidents Cup in 2025 because the competition isn’t played annually.
That brings us to Medinah with the Americans looking for an 11th consecutive victory. The International Team is trying to stop a streak that has stretched across multiple generations of players.

My 2026 Presidents Cup Free Picks come down to whether I’m willing to pay a very expensive price for the clearly deeper team. I am.
USA -460 isn’t going to make anybody race to the betting window because they found some hidden number the sportsbook missed. You’re laying that price because Team USA owns the better roster, has a massive experience advantage in these team competitions, and hasn’t lost the Presidents Cup in a very long time. There’s no need to make this complicated just because -460 looks ugly.
Sometimes ugly prices cash too.
2026 Presidents Cup Free Pick & Golf Betting Odds: USA -460
The Americans are my play at -460. Let’s start with the obvious problem.
That’s a lot of damn juice.
Anybody pretending -460 is some gorgeous value bet needs to put the pom-poms down. We’re paying a premium because the sportsbook knows exactly what we know: Team USA is considerably deeper and has dominated this competition. But there’s a reason I’m still willing to lay it.
The Americans bring seven of the world’s top 10 players to Medinah and 10 of the top 25. They also have seven of the top eight players in strokes gained tee-to-green in 2026 on the roster. Then add the experience.
A large chunk of this American team has played Presidents Cups, Ryder Cups, or both. They understand four-ball. They understand foursomes. They understand that one ugly hole doesn’t matter if you can recover and win the next one.
Team USA has also won this event 10 consecutive times. The overall record is 13-1-1.
At some point, we don’t need to invent reasons to bet against overwhelming evidence simply because the favorite isn’t giving us a sexy number.
The International Team has players capable of winning matches. Fox is an Open champion. Si Woo Kim can beat anybody over 18 holes. I’m not expecting a four-day walkover where the Americans win every session and everybody heads for deep-dish pizza by Sunday lunch.
I don’t need that. I need the deeper team to win the competition.
My 2026 Presidents Cup Free Picks land on USA -460 because the roster advantage, team-event experience, home setting, and history all point in the same direction.
Give me Team USA -460.
How Bettors Should Attack the Presidents Cup
The tournament winner isn’t the only market worth watching this week. Once the pairings come out, individual matchups should become a much bigger part of the betting conversation.
That’s where I’m interested in being patient.
A golfer’s name and world ranking don’t tell us everything about how a pairing will work. Foursomes especially can create some weird combinations because players alternate shots and have to deal with wherever their partner leaves the golf ball. Four-ball gives the stars a little more freedom.
If Scheffler or one of the other American heavyweights gets paired with somebody who’s rolling the putter, that can become a miserable afternoon for the International side.
Singles on Sunday changes everything again. That’s where individual player matchups become easier to evaluate because the partner disappears and it’s simply golfer against golfer.
Four-Ball & Foursomes Betting
Four-ball is usually the easier format for bettors to understand. Everybody plays his own ball, and the lowest score from each team counts on the hole. One player can attack while his partner provides some insurance.
Foursomes is where things can get strange.
Players alternate shots with one ball, so chemistry and complementary games become much more important. A bad drive doesn’t just hurt you. Now your partner has to clean up the mess.
That makes the pairings worth studying before firing into every matchup on the board. I’m especially interested in seeing how Snedeker handles his younger players and which veterans he puts beside them.
Koivun has all the talent in the world. Presidents Cup golf is still something he’s never experienced.
Sunday Singles Could Decide the Best Bets
If the International Team can keep this reasonably close through Saturday, Sunday becomes a completely different betting day. Everybody plays singles.
No partner. No alternate shot. No hiding a struggling player inside a pairing.
That’s where I’ll be much more comfortable treating the individual matches like traditional head-to-head golf bets. Scheffler’s team-event record will get plenty of attention, but I’m not blindly fading the World No. 1 because of a 3-5-1 Presidents Cup record either.
Nine matches isn’t a career.
It’s information. There’s a difference.
The same applies to the International players. If somebody arrives Sunday playing excellent golf through the first three days, I’m going to care more about what I’ve watched at Medinah than whatever reputation he carried into Thursday.
Presidents Cup Betting Strategy
My pre-tournament position is simple. USA -460 is the main play.
After that, patience.
We should have far more information once we see the actual pairings and watch the first session. Team golf gives us matchup markets that simply don’t exist during a normal stroke-play week, and there’s no reason to spend the entire bankroll before Thursday.
The scoreboard matters too. If the International side starts well, the American tournament price could become more attractive in live betting. If Team USA comes out burying everybody immediately, that opportunity disappears.
That’s betting.
Sometimes the number comes to you. Sometimes it doesn’t.
I’m willing to pay -460 before the tournament. I’m not willing to force five more bets just because the Presidents Cup gives us four days to gamble.
