Week 3 NFL Power Rankings
Looking for 2026 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings? Two weeks are in the books, which means we’re finally getting something better than offseason hype, training-camp reports, and educated guessing. Buffalo and Seattle are unbeaten at the top, Kansas City has Patrick Mahomes back, and a few teams that entered September with big expectations are already staring at 0-2.
It’s still early.
Two games can tell us something without telling us everything, and that’s where NFL power rankings can get dangerous. One ugly Sunday can make a good team look broken, while one blowout can convince everybody we’ve found the next Super Bowl champion.
We’re trying not to fall for either one.
NFL Football Handicapping
The first couple weeks have already moved some teams around quite a bit. The Bills are rolling, the Seahawks haven’t lost a game since last November, and the Eagles keep finding ways to survive.
Meanwhile, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Miami, and Atlanta are all still hunting for win No. 1.
Let’s get into Ray Monohan’s 2026 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings.
1. Buffalo Bills (2-0)
The Bills have looked dominant on offense with Joe Brady unlocking that unit and getting Josh Allen back into the MVP discussion. Buffalo isn’t just 2-0; the offense already looks comfortable playing at the pace we’ve expected from this group.
There are going to be doubts all year long about whether or not they can play at this level into January and February. That’s fair after the way previous Buffalo seasons have ended.
For now, though, they’re firing on all cylinders.
And that’s enough to put the Bills at No. 1.
2. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
No Sam Darnold, no problem.
The Seahawks won convincingly Sunday with Drew Lock under center, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba remains a force through the air. The real headliner in Seattle, though, is Mike Macdonald’s defense.
It looks even better than it did a year ago after adding some pieces in the offseason.
Seattle has now won 12 games in a row dating back to last November. Until somebody actually beats these guys, moving the defending champs very far down this list would be trying way too hard to be clever.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
The Eagles certainly don’t make things easy on themselves, but they’re 2-0 after a pair of one-score victories against lesser competition.
That’s the good news.
Sean Mannion also has Jalen Hurts looking as good as a passer as he has at any point in his NFL career. If that continues, Philadelphia’s offense has another dimension it hasn’t always been able to lean on.
The bad news is the rushing offense hasn’t found its footing yet.
Winning while you’re still figuring things out beats the hell out of the alternative.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)
Last year’s disappointing season already feels like a distant memory now that Patrick Mahomes is back and looking healthy.
Kansas City also has a dynamic running game led by Kenneth Walker, giving Andy Reid another way to attack defenses. That’s not exactly the development the rest of the AFC was hoping for.
The defense and special teams are good enough to keep this team out of trouble when the offense isn’t perfect.
With Mahomes back running the show, Kansas City looks like Kansas City again.
5. Cincinnati Bengals (2-0)
The Bengals have been plagued by slow starts under Zac Taylor, but not this time. Cincinnati opens 2-0, and after last year’s start, the more important development might be Joe Burrow getting through both games healthy.
The defensive improvements have shown themselves early as well.
That’s the part that could change Cincinnati’s ceiling.
Everybody knows Burrow and the offense can win games when they’re humming. If the defense no longer requires the offense to win a track meet every Sunday, the Bengals become a much tougher out.
6. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
So much for the Australia hangover.
San Francisco improved to 2-0 with another convincing win, and the offense has looked exactly like you’d expect with a healthy Brock Purdy operating Kyle Shanahan’s system. There are weapons everywhere.
That’s a pretty comfortable setup for a quarterback.
The 49ers have taken care of business through two weeks without giving us much reason to nitpick. Eventually the schedule will give us a better test, but there’s nothing wrong with banking wins while everybody waits for it.

7. Los Angeles Rams (1-1)
The Rams got back into the win column in convincing fashion Monday night and looked much more like the team many expected to contend for the NFC crown.
Matthew Stafford was back in MVP form.
Then there’s Aaron Donald.
Seeing Donald back in a Rams uniform is enough to make opposing offensive linemen suddenly remember an appointment they forgot to put on the calendar. His return changes the personality of that defense, and if Stafford keeps playing at this level, Los Angeles won’t stay outside the top five for long.
8. Chicago Bears (1-1)
Chicago outplayed Minnesota in the rain Sunday but couldn’t turn enough of its opportunities into points when it mattered.
That’s the frustrating part.
The encouraging part is we’ve already seen what this offense can look like when everything clicks after the Bears hung 59 on Carolina. That’s probably closer to the unit Chicago expects to see than what showed up in the rain against Minnesota.
Now the concern is Caleb Williams.
The Bears need him back on the field sooner rather than later if they’re going to turn the offensive upside into something sustainable.
9. Minnesota Vikings (2-0)
The Vikings won Sunday.
Nobody said it had to be pretty.
Minnesota’s offense didn’t look particularly good, and the quarterback situation still feels unsettled despite the 2-0 record. Kyle Murray gets another opportunity this weekend to show he can settle the position down.
That’s the weird thing about September power rankings.
The Vikings have two wins in two games, yet there are still enough questions on offense to keep them behind several teams with a loss.
10. Denver Broncos (1-1)
It took Denver’s offense three halves of football to finally wake up.
Better late than 0-2.
Sunday’s comeback against Jacksonville was important with the Rams and 49ers sitting next on the schedule. Starting 0-2 and then running into those two would’ve been a hell of a way to spend September.
Bo Nix now has to keep the offense functioning at that level.
Denver’s roster gives this team enough margin for error, but there are limits. If Nix and the offense can build off that second half, the Broncos have a chance to start climbing again.
From the undefeated teams at the top to the clubs already digging out of an 0-2 hole, our 2026 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings are starting to reflect what we’ve actually seen on the field instead of what everybody predicted in August.
Two games still isn’t a huge sample.
It’s enough to start asking better questions.

There’s your middle.
Las Vegas is the obvious record-versus-ranking oddball at 2-0, while Baltimore and Detroit remain ahead of several teams with better records. That’s intentional.
Power rankings aren’t standings.
The Texans are the other team worth circling. Houston is 0-2 and already down at No. 19 after entering the season with much bigger expectations.
Whether you’re fading the September hype or waiting for a slow starter to wake up, the bottom of our 2026 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings has plenty of teams already feeling some heat.

Seven teams enter Week 3 without a win.
Nobody’s season is dead in September, but 0-3 is where the math and the mood around a football team start getting ugly. The Chargers, Commanders, Buccaneers, Titans, Dolphins, and Falcons don’t need a motivational speech this weekend.
They need a damn win.
