2026 Bank of Utah Championship Free Picks are here as the FedExCup Fall heads to Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah. CappersPicks.com has the PGA golf betting breakdown, tournament odds, and four outright picks for this week’s 120-player field.
Michael Brennan returns as defending champion after winning here by four shots last October. Jackson Koivun arrives fresh off the Presidents Cup and sits atop the betting board at +1100.
It’s not exactly a major championship field.
That’s also why there’s some room to hunt beyond the favorite. And after 20-plus years of doing this, I can tell you the favorite doesn’t get a discount just because we recognize his name.

2026 Bank of Utah Championship Free Picks
The FedExCup Fall returns to Black Desert Resort for the third edition of the Bank of Utah Championship. There are 120 players chasing a $6 million purse, but plenty of this field is also fighting for something considerably more important: 2027 playing status.
Brennan returns after shooting 22-under here last year to earn his first PGA Tour victory by four shots. Since then, he’s added a Wyndham Championship win, qualified for the FedExCup playoffs, climbed to a career-best No. 32 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and finished T10 at the BMW Championship in his most recent start.
That’s a pretty decent follow-up to your first Tour win.
This Week on the PGA Tour
Presidents Cup standout Jackson Koivun is the +1100 favorite after going 2-0-1 for Team USA. At 21, Koivun was the second-youngest American to compete in the Presidents Cup behind only Jordan Spieth.
Nick Taylor and Christiaan Bezuidenhout are the other two players making the trip from the Presidents Cup to Utah.
The lack of Presidents Cup names tells us plenty about the depth of this field. It also leaves us with a wide-open betting board where I’m considerably more interested in shopping for prices than automatically paying +1100 for Koivun.
A weaker field doesn’t mean we need more bets. It means the right golfer at the wrong price can get interesting in a hurry.
Last Year at Black Desert Resort
Michael Brennan closed with a 5-under 66 to win the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship by four shots. It was his first PGA Tour start as a professional after getting into the field on a sponsor exemption.
That victory gave Brennan a two-year Tour exemption and allowed the Wake Forest standout to skip the Korn Ferry Tour. He also earned spots in the PGA Championship and RBC Heritage.
The event doesn’t give us much history yet, but Brennan and inaugural champion Matt McCarty have already given bettors two useful data points.

2026 Bank of Utah Championship Best Bets
I’m passing on the very top of the board this week. Koivun +1100, Maverick McNealy +1700, and Brennan +1750 all have arguments, but my card starts a little farther down with Benjamin James.
From there we get Matt Wallace at +2250, former champion Matt McCarty at +4900, and Zecheng Dou at +9000.
Four outright PGA best bets. No reason to turn a wide-open field into a 10-golfer lottery ticket. I’ve seen enough Sunday back-nine disasters without needing 10 different ways to suffer through one.
2026 Bank of Utah Championship Free Pick & Golf Betting Odds: Benjamin James +2150
Benjamin James has been knocking hard enough that I’m willing to bet on the door finally opening. He enters Utah with second- and third-place finishes in his last two starts.
James finished runner-up to Jacob Bridgeman in Asheville, ending the week only two shots back after matching Bridgeman’s Sunday score. He’s also 13th in this field in Shots Gained: Tee-to-Green.
That’s the combination I want at +2150: current form with something underneath it besides a couple of hot putting rounds.
James has put himself close enough lately. Eventually you either bet the guy knocking on the door or congratulate yourself for noticing after he kicks the damn thing in.
Give me Benjamin James +2150 as the first outright.
2026 Bank of Utah Championship Free Pick & Golf Betting Odds: Matt Wallace +2250
Matt Wallace is another golfer arriving with his game in a good place. He’s produced four consecutive top-20 finishes on the DP World Tour and also tied for seventh at the Wyndham Championship.
There’s no mystery to this one. Sometimes handicapping golf doesn’t require a NASA launch sequence.
We’re getting a golfer who keeps hanging around leaderboards at +2250 in a field that doesn’t scare me much once we get beyond the top few names. Wallace still needs to finish the job, obviously, but the form is there.
Matt Wallace +2250 makes the card.
2026 Bank of Utah Championship Free Pick & Golf Betting Odds: Matt McCarty +4900
If we’re going to use course history this week, Matt McCarty is impossible to ignore.
The Bank of Utah Championship has only been played twice. McCarty won the inaugural event in 2024 and came back with a T3 last year. That’s about as good a two-year résumé as we’re going to find at Black Desert Resort.
His recent ball-striking needs to improve, so this isn’t some perfect statistical profile hiding at 49-to-1. His putter has been doing its share of the work, though, ranking second in this field in Shots Gained: Putting.
At +4900, I’ll take the course history and hope the ball-striking cooperates. At 49-to-1, I’m allowed to ask for cooperation. Perfection costs considerably more.
Matt McCarty +4900 is outright No. 3.
2026 Bank of Utah Championship Free Pick & Golf Betting Odds: Zecheng Dou +9000
Zecheng Dou is the fun one.
He’s +9000 for a reason. Consistency isn’t exactly the sales pitch.
Five of the last six times Dou has made the cut, however, he’s turned those weekends into top-25 finishes. He’s coming off a T7 at the Biltmore Championship, where his putter showed how dangerous he can be when things click.
That’s a profile I’m willing to take a small swing on at 90-to-1. Either Dou finds something and hangs around, or we’re probably tearing up the ticket before Sunday.
For this price, I can live with that. Ninety-to-one tickets aren’t supposed to come with seat warmers and a warranty.
Give me a small Zecheng Dou +9000 outright.

How Bettors Should Attack the Bank of Utah Championship
This isn’t a week where I need to invent seven more outrights because the field is weaker. The four golfers above give us a nice spread from +2150 through +9000, and that’s enough pre-tournament exposure for me.
Black Desert Resort has only hosted this event twice, so I’m not pretending we have 20 years of course history to dissect. McCarty’s win and T3 matter. So does Brennan’s dominant performance last year.
Beyond that, current form matters more to me.
James and Wallace arrive playing well. Dou gives us volatility at a price where volatility doesn’t bother me nearly as much.
A wide-open PGA field is an invitation to shop for value, not an excuse to bet half the damn odds board.
