Let’s take a look at Ray Monohan’s NFL Playoff Power Rankings for the 2025 postseason.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (15-2)
The Chiefs were able to lock in the top seed in Week 17 which gives them a very long layoff before their first playoff game. We finally start to see the Chiefs find another gear in their last few full games and actually build a margin on their opponents. The bracket sets up very favorably for them. They’ll probably get the Texans or Chargers in the Divisional Round, then will have to beat only one of the Bills or Ravens in the AFC title game in their quest for a three-peat.
2. Detroit Lions (15-2)
The Lions are coming off maybe the best regular season in franchise history. Their defense is banged up, but Aaron Glenn put on a clinic in their regular season finale. This could be a special year for this Lions team in search of its first Super Bowl.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)
The Eagles probably deserve a better draw than the Packers after winning 14 regular season games. The Packers are banged up, so if the Eagles are able to get Jalen Hurts through concussion protocol they will have an edge health-wise. Vic Fangio’s given coaches from the Shanahan coaching tree a difficult time historically, though Matt Lafleur’s already had one crack at this defense earlier this season in Brazil.

4. Buffalo Bills (13-4)
The Bills get a favorable matchup in the Wild Card Round as they draw a raw Broncos squad. Things will get tougher from there as their path to the Super Bowl will likely then see them square off with the Ravens, followed by a trip to Kansas City. Josh Allen’s played like an MVP in what was supposed to be a transition season for the Bills after an offseason full of roster turnover.
5. Minnesota Vikings (14-3)
The Vikings fell flat in their regular season finale, but this is a 14-win team that’s rock solid on both sides of the ball. They could find themselves in a rematch with the Lions as soon as the Divisional Round. They went into that game in Detroit with a 6-1 road record on the season.
6. Baltimore Ravens (12-5)
It’s been an unusual year in the NFL standings, and we see a 12-win Ravens team draw a Wild Card Round matchup with the 10-win Steelers who sat atop the division for the first couple months of the season. The teams split their regular season matchups, but one team is on the ascent and the other has been declining. Not surprisingly, the Ravens opened as the biggest favorite on the opening round slate.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-7)
The Bucs enter the postseason playing some really good football with Baker Mayfield looking as good as we’ve seen him look in the pros. Their passing offense is going to be dangerous in any fair weather games they play. They open against the Commanders who have dominated lesser competition but struggled against playoff teams.
8. Green Bay Packers (11-6)
The Packers looked poised to be a fierce opening round opponent but they’ve been banged up of late and that’s taken some of the shine off. They’re going to Philadelphia looking to play spoiler against an NFC East foe for the second year in a row.
9. Houston Texans (10-7)
The Texans are really limping into the postseason after a sluggish end to the regular season. The team’s offense was the talk of the league under Bobby Slowik a year ago. Now, Slowik’s job may not be safe entering next season. We’ve seen their defense make big plays all year long so that unit could bail them out.
10. Los Angeles Chargers (11-6)
The Chargers feel like one of the quieter 11-win teams in recent memory. Justin Herbert’s played really well with limited pass-catching options at his disposal. Jim Harbaugh’s done a terrific job turning this snake-bitten franchise around.
