2026 Sony Open in Hawaii Free Picks
After a one week delay, the 2026 PGA Tour season begins this weekend with the Sony Open in Hawaii. This tournament is kicking off the 2026 PGA Tour after the cancellation of The Sentry.
That makes this the only event in Hawaii this year, turning the Hawaii Swing into a lone tournament.
The Sentry was cancelled due to course concerns.
Some big names will be in the field this weekend to kick off the season after a two-month hiatus.
This Week on the PGA Tour
To start, the field was reduced from 144 to 120 this year, with notables including Keegan Bradley, Corey Conners, Tony Finau, Russell Henley, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, Sahith Theegala, and 62-year-old Vijay Singh.
Notably, Singh elected to take up PGA Tour membership for 2026. He last played 10 or more events in a season back in 2017–18.
Meanwhile, the three-time major champion is exercising his year exemption via his standing as a top-50 member on the PGA Tour’s Career Money list.
Last Year
Looking back, Nick Taylor continued his familiar PGA Tour pattern of streaky form mixed with timely trophies, chipping in from 60 feet for eagle on the 72nd hole and draining a 10-footer to extend the playoff before chipping to inside three feet for birdie to defeat Nico Echavarria in extra holes.
Afterward, following his win at the WM Phoenix Open, Taylor went 23 starts across 11 months without a top-10 finish.
Then, after a 70-foot eagle putt sealed his national Canadian Open victory, he went another 12 starts over seven months with only one top-10 result.
At the end of the day, while consistency hasn’t exactly followed, the breakthrough wins have.
Taylor has now won in each of the past three seasons and owns five PGA Tour victories overall, with this one marking his third consecutive tournament win that came via playoff.
His first victory dates back to the 2014 Sanderson Farms Championship, followed by another at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, before stringing together three more from 2023 through 2025.
Ultimately, the win punched Taylor’s ticket to both the Masters and the PGA Championship and pushed him inside the top 30 of the world rankings, reinforcing his reputation as a golfer who peaks when it matters most.

2026 Sony Open in Hawaii Free Picks – PGA Golf
Looking for sharp bets? Here are a few golfers offering real value this week:
2026 Sony Open in Hawaii Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Russell Henley +1100
Henley is installed as the betting favorite this week. That’s not a spot we often see him in, but if you built a golfer in a lab who was perfectly tuned for this course, he’s the guy.
With his driving accuracy, iron play, and putting, he figures to be a player to be reckoned with.
2026 Sony Open in Hawaii Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: J.J. Spaun +1900
Spaun finished T3 in this event last year before he went on to win the U.S. Open. He enters this season in fine form after playing three starts in the fall and finishing T11 or better in those events.
2026 Sony Open in Hawaii Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Aaron Rai +4500
Rai is another player whose game is very well suited for this course, especially if he has a good week with the putter. He’s moved up to 23rd in the world rankings thanks to a win at the first stage of the DP World Tour playoffs in Abu Dhabi.
He ranks top 10 in the field in driving accuracy and approach.
2026 Sony Open in Hawaii Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Daniel Berger +6500
The holiday layoff hopefully served Berger well. He started 2025 strong with top 25 finishes in nine of his first 12 starts, including in deep fields at The Masters and The Players. He finished 2025 without a top 30 finish in any of his final 10 starts.
If he’s past the finger injury that marred that closing stretch, perhaps another strong start is in the cards.
