With another opportunity to profit from the latest stop on Tour, bettors looking to sharpen their edge can lean on our breakdowns all week long.
If you’re betting this tournament, understanding course history, current form, and where the market tends to overreact matters just as much as the numbers themselves. In other words, blindly chasing big names at Riviera is rarely the optimal approach.

2026 Genesis Invitational Free Picks
The PGA Tour resumes this week at one of its most storied venues with the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club for the first time in two years. Notably, Riviera has historically rewarded elite ball-strikers who can control trajectory and distance.
The 2025 edition of this tournament was played at Torrey Pines after event coordinators were forced to change the venue due to the wildfires in Southern California. As a result, this marks a true return to the traditional test that Riviera presents.
This Week on the PGA Tour
This event is the second consecutive signature event on the PGA Tour schedule after last weekend’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Additionally, the purse and FedExCup implications continue to raise the stakes early in the season.
The signature event designation brings another loaded field, with 18 of the top 20 and 41 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking among the 72 players in the field.
That field includes each of the top 11 players in the world, including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, and Hideki Matsuyama. Meanwhile, depth throughout the field makes this far more competitive than a standard Tour stop.
Unlike last week, however, this week will have a 36-hole cut. The top 50 and ties and any other players within 10 shots of the lead will continue through to the weekend at Riviera. Therefore, fast starts matter more here than they did at Pebble Beach.
Event host Tiger Woods awarded the Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption to Sahith Theegala, allowing the one-time PGA Tour winner to participate in this week’s event. The other sponsor exemptions this week are Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Adam Scott.
Tiger Woods himself will not play, however, despite serving as the tournament host for the seventh consecutive year. Even so, his presence still shapes the prestige of this event. Tiger continues to recover from the lumbar disc replacement surgery he underwent in October.
Later on Riviera’s schedule are the U.S. Women’s Open later this year, the 2028 Olympic golf competition, and the 2031 U.S. Open. Ultimately, this venue remains one of the crown jewels of professional golf.
Last Year
The event was played at Torrey Pines last year due to the wildfires in California. Ludvig Åberg emerged victorious after a strong showing down the stretch on Sunday.
Åberg closed the final round with birdies on four of the final six holes, including a seven-foot birdie on 18 to close out a 6-under 66 and a one-shot victory over Maverick McNealy. Consequently, he solidified his status as one of the game’s rising stars.
Åberg claimed the $4 million prize with a 12-under 276 for his third career victory since turning pro in June of 2023. At that point, his trajectory was undeniable.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler fell out of contention with a 76 on Saturday in his worst round in nearly three years. He responded with a 66 on Sunday to climb back into a tie for third. However, the damage had already been done.
The last time the Genesis Invitational was played at Riviera, Hideki Matsuyama was the victor, beating out Will Zalatoris and Luke List by three strokes in 2024.

2026 Genesis Invitational Free Picks – PGA Golf
At the same time, course history and current form continue to matter when laying down your hard-earned cash on the PGA Tour. For that reason, separating true win equity from brand-name recognition is critical at Riviera.
2026 Genesis Invitational Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Cameron Young +2700
Young appears poised for a strong year after earning his first win on Tour a year ago. Furthermore, he stood out for the American side at the Ryder Cup.
2026 Genesis Invitational Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Chris Gotterup +3000
The market hasn’t fully adjusted to Gotterup, who enters this week as one of the hottest players on Tour. He has won two of the four events he’s started this year. Because of that, value still exists at this number.
2026 Genesis Invitational Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Viktor Hovland +3300
Hovland is a player we know can win big-time events. In addition, he has performed well in this event with multiple top-20 finishes.
2026 Genesis Invitational Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Sepp Straka +4500
Straka has played himself into form and is coming off a T18 and a T2 the past two weeks. Similarly, Riviera rewards the type of controlled ball-striking he brings.
