2025 PGA Tour Picks
It’s 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship free picks time. The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings are set to tee it up this week at TPC Southwind in Memphis. Naturally, this marks the first of three FedEx Cup Playoff events on the road to the Tour Championship — where the 2025 FedEx Cup title will ultimately be decided.
2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship
- Where: TPC Southwind; Memphis, Tennessee
- Date: August 7–10, 2025
- Format: Strokes
- Defending Champion: Hideki Matsuyama
- TV Coverage: NBC, Golf Channel
After this week’s tournament, the playoff field will be trimmed to just 50 players, who will then move on to the BMW Championship. From there, only the top 30 will qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake — with everything on the line in Atlanta.
Because of that, every stroke this week carries playoff implications. Furthermore, each stage of the FedEx Cup Playoffs raises the stakes. That’s why sharp bettors and fans alike will be dialed in from start to finish.
This Week on the PGA Tour
With the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship on Sunday, the FedEx Cup Playoff field is officially set. While 70 players earned their way into this week’s event at TPC Southwind, only 69 will tee it up — and the absence is a big one.
As expected, Rory McIlroy, one of the most accomplished FedEx Cup competitors of all time, has opted to skip the first leg of the playoffs. The reigning Masters champ finished T68 at this event last year, and he hasn’t played since notching a T7 finish at The Open last month.
Currently, McIlroy is ranked No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings behind only Scottie Scheffler. Accordingly, his spot in the top 50 — and likely even the top 30 — is all but locked up.
With two playoff events still ahead, plus the Ryder Cup looming, it’s clear Rory is prioritizing rest over reps.
Meanwhile, Cameron Young’s breakthrough win at the Wyndham secured his playoff spot and reshuffled the bottom of the leaderboard. As a result, several high-profile names were bumped out of contention, including Max Homa, Adam Scott, Sahith Theegala, and Gary Woodland.
Despite solid seasons, they fell short at Sedgefield when it mattered most.
As for this week’s odds, there’s a massive favorite. Scottie Scheffler leads the way at +260, and there’s a steep drop to the second name on the board — Xander Schauffele at +1900.
Moreover, Justin Thomas checks in next at +2200, meaning you’ll get nearly 20 units more value compared to the No. 1-ranked player in the world.
Clearly, the FedEx Cup Playoffs are here — and with Rory sitting this one out, the door is wide open for someone to make an early move.

2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Scottie Scheffler +260
There’s no real reason to think Scottie Scheffler’s dominant stretch is slowing down. He’s fresh off his second major win of the season — this time at Royal Portrush — and continues to distance himself from the rest of the field.
Notably, with Rory McIlroy sitting out this week, Scheffler enters in a class of his own. Oddsmakers agree, installing him as the heavy favorite at TPC Southwind.
Last year, Scheffler posted a solo fourth-place finish here, ending just three shots behind the winner. Given his current form, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he goes wire-to-wire this time around.
2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Russell Henley +3500
Russell Henley is one of the most accurate players on Tour — both off the tee and into the greens — and that precision makes him a strong fit for TPC Southwind. Historically, his track record on Bermudagrass surfaces is solid, and his sharp short game gives him a safety net when approach shots miss the mark.
In fact, Henley enters the FedEx St. Jude in excellent form. Impressively, he’s recorded four straight top-10 finishes and is trending as one of the most consistent performers in the field right now.
2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Chris Gotterup +4000
Chris Gotterup has been one of the hottest players on Tour lately — and his recent surge has vaulted him into the Ryder Cup conversation.
Specifically, he followed up a win at the Scottish Open with a T3 finish at The Open Championship and added a T10 at the 3M Open to cap off a stellar stretch.
Clearly, Gotterup is finding form at the perfect time as the playoffs begin.
2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Chris Kirk +15000
Chris Kirk might be buried on the odds board, but don’t let that fool you — he’s playing some of his best golf of the season. He’s posted top-15 finishes in four of his last six starts, including a playoff loss at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Even more impressive, Kirk is coming off a T5 showing at the Wyndham Championship. Undoubtedly, he enters Memphis with momentum and could be a sneaky value play this week.
