The PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall schedule continues this weekend with the seventh annual Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course. This marks the final fall stop outside the United States, with the players returning to Georgia next weekend.
This Week on the PGA Tour
As the calendar winds down on 2025, we’re seeing weaker fields on Tour as many of the top players have already locked in their status for 2026. That gives opportunity to some lesser known players to make a name for themselves with the eyes of the golf world thrust upon them.
This week’s field includes 18-year-old teen phenom Blades Brown, who will be making his seventh Tour start this year, having made the cut in two of the first six. The 2024 Rolex Junior Player of the Year received an exemption to play this week.
Another interesting name teeing it up this week is Drew Zielinski. The Division II golfer earned a PGA Tour exemption for winning a college event when he claimed Golfweek’s Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite tournament a few weeks ago. That makes him the first D-II golfer to earn a PGA Tour exemption from winning a college tournament.
Last Year
It was a fantasy Sunday for Rafael Campos at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship a year ago. Campos’s wife had her labor induced Monday the week of the tournament and the couple welcomed their first child into the world. Six days later, Campos went on to win his first career PGA tournament.
Campos entered the week at No. 147 in the FedExCup Fall standings and entered the week having missed 13 of his last 14 cuts in PGA Tour events. With only two events remaining in 2024, Campos was on the verge of losing his Tour card, A 9-under 62 on Saturday – one-off the course record – put him right in the mix on Sunday, when his 3-under 68 closed out a three-shot win over Andrew Novak at 19-under, bumping him up to No. 80 in the FedExCup Fall standings.
Another notable item that made the win extra special for Campos – the Puerto Rico native won this event just three months after Chi Chi Rodriguez – the most well known Puerto Rican golfer of all time, passed away.
