The PGA Tour shifts to Minnesota for the seventh edition of the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities. With the FedExCup Playoffs looming, this event is a critical opportunity for players to climb the standings or lock in their eligibility.
Historically speaking, Minneapolis-St. Paul hosted PGA Tour events from 1930 to 1969. However, this modern version of the tournament has quickly become a summertime staple on the calendar.
As always, the 156-player field will be cut to the low 60 and ties after Friday’s round — making every shot matter that much more.
This Week on the PGA Tour
The field this week includes only two of the top 25 players in the World Golf Rankings. Even so, there are still plenty of talented players who will tee it up at TPC Twin Cities. Leading the way, the highest-ranked player in the field will be Maverick McNealy, who sits at No. 17, followed closely by Sam Burns at No. 22.
Beyond that, there are several other familiar names in the 156-player field. Expect to see stars like Wyndham Clark, Cam Davis, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Si Woo Kim, Adam Scott, and Sahith Theegala battling for position.
Meanwhile, defending champion Jhonattan Vegas will be back in action. He won his fourth PGA Tour title here a year ago, snapping a winless drought that dated all the way back to 2017. In dramatic fashion, he clinched the victory by sinking a three-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to post 17-under 267.
As a result, that final putt held off Tour rookie Max Greyserman by just one shot. Vegas not only became the first international winner of the 3M Open, but also the first player to finish both first and second in the event’s history.
This Year at the 3M
Organizers for this year’s tournament made a strategic push to attract players who missed the cut at The Open — and it paid off. Most notably, they reeled in Adam Scott, who will make his first-ever appearance at the 3M Open.
Scott shot a second-round 79 on Friday at Royal Troon, missing the cut and opening the door for a quick pivot to Minnesota.
At the same time, Scott remains one of several big names currently outside the FedExCup Playoffs cut line. He enters the week ranked 84th in points.
Meanwhile, Wyndham Clark sits at 78th, Fowler is 71st, and Homa finds himself all the way back at 102nd.

2025 3M Open Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Maverick McNealy +2000
Maverick McNealy nearly captured his second career PGA Tour win earlier this year at the Genesis Invitational, only to be overtaken late by Ludvig Åberg. Now, he returns to the 3M Open looking to finish the job — and he’s among the betting favorites after a T3 finish here last year.
Coming in with momentum, McNealy has made the cut in all four majors this season. Most recently, he posted solid back-to-back results with a T22 at the Scottish Open and a T23 at The Open Championship, both in significantly stronger fields.

Knapp’s game has quietly been trending upward, with three straight top-22 finishes to his name — including an impressive T4 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Champ’s last PGA Tour victory came right here at the 3M Open — and heading into this week, his form appears to be rounding into shape once again. Much like Knapp, he brings elite length off the tee, but what really stands out is his improved putting. Champ had gained strokes on the greens in six consecutive starts prior to last week.
Course history also works in his favor. Since his win in 2021, he’s followed up with a 16th-place finish in 2022 and a T12 in 2024.
Clearly, TPC Twin Cities sets up well for his aggressive style of play.

Fishburn recently posted a T6 finish at the ISCO Championship — matching the T6 he recorded at the 3M Open last year. While he’s still chasing his first career PGA Tour victory, his consistent presence inside the top 10 suggests a breakthrough could be right around the corner.
