This game features two teams who did not meet the expectations many thought they would. San Francisco has lost 13 in a row since beating the Rams in week 1, and 5 years of mediocrity got head coach Jeff Fisher the ax 2 weeks ago.
Kick off is set for 4:25 PM ET with QB Colin Kaepernick getting the start for the 49ers with Jared Goff opposing him.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers offense has been one of the worst in the league this year, but Carlos Hyde returning from injury, and Colin Kaepernick playing at a “better than Gabbert” level, the 49ers have a punchers chance in this game.

Going up against a below average defense from Atlanta, Kaepernick threw for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had a few scrambles for 21 yards rushing.
Carlos Hyde has proven he is still one of the best backs in the league this year. He should pass the 1,000 yard mark this week and through the last 5 games is averaging 6.2 yards per carry. If he gets the ball 15+ times he will break the century mark in what should be a great performance against the Rams front seven.
With tight end Blake Bell being put on injured reserve a sneaky option in the red zone will be Garrett Celek. If he can beat the Rams tough linebackers in the secondary he may grab an early touchdown pass.
He will be someone to watch in the 49ers passing game if KAepernick has time to throw.

The 49ers defense has not played well this season, and a key to that is a lack of impact players on the roster. After shutting out the Rams in week 1, the 49ers have given up 20 points in every loss this season. I don’t expect this game to be any different, even with a rookie QB on the other side of the field.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams were stuck in mediocrity over the 5 seasons of Jeff Fisher’s tenure. The front office decided to make a change and will be actively looking for a head coach in the offseason. The bigger question is QB and whether or not Jared Goff is the answer.
The Rams mortgaged their future on a QB that in my opinion isn’t very good. He wasn’t a standout QB at Cal, and has looked like a poor choice so far in his rookie season.
He was shut down by the Legion of Boom last Thursday and I expect him to struggle again in this game. Look for a 1 touchdown 2 interception performance from the rookie.
Poor QB play has been a detriment to Todd Gurley’s sophomore campaign. Many believed an Offensive Player of the Year type of season was on deck for the Georgia stud, but he has been a huge disappointment.
In Gurley’s last 4 games he hasn’t rushed for over 75 yards in any contest and has just 1 touchdown. The 49ers won’t be able to stop Gurley and the talented back will reach 100 yards and find the end zone twice in the game.

Aaron Donald is in the running for Defensive Player of the Year, so look for him to wreak havoc on the 49ers O-line and get 2 sacks.
