This game is meaningless to Denver but could mean everything to the Raiders, who can secure a first round bye with a victory. It won’t be easy without starting QB Derek Carr.
Denver is not even going to make the playoffs a year after winning the Super Bowl and is just hoping to end the season on a more positive note.
Kick off is set for 4:25 PM ET with QB Matt McGloin looking to get the confidence of the Raiders where it needs to be if they are going to be a factor in the AFC playoffs.
The Raiders were enjoying a very charmed season until Derek Carr went down with a broken leg last week against Indianapolis. They won the game but this is a huge blow for a team that has been offense first all season long.
Even though Carr and the receivers got the accolades this team can run the ball – 5th in the league – it just isn’t their identity.
McGloin only had to throw a few passes last week but has started in the past. Maybe this is the perfect spot for him as win or lose they are still going to the playoffs.
Now would be an amazing time for Khalil Mack and the defense to step up. Mack has 11 sacks but none in the last two games.
He is the biggest difference maker on this group, the one player who can really bust up an offense and they are going to really need him to do so.
Oakland is in a good position for the final week but their outlook has taken a huge hit.
Even though he was not at his peak no team gets better at QB when Peyton Manning shuffles off into the sunset. Denver thought they had reasonable options as replacements but the offense just never game together, no matter who as directing it.
The running game was just as much a culprit as who was under center too. Denver has lost three in a row and scored only 23 points in those games. They surely want to close the season with a win and I have to think that with nothing the lose the offense opens up, a little.
Even if it doesn’t they can win this Carr-less battle with Oakland.
They are the top defense in the NFL against the pass and have to be pretty excited to see McGloin in there. In their first meeting with Oakland it was the running game that did in the Broncos though as they gave up 30 points.
Von Miller won’t be starring in the playoffs this season but is still one of the best defensive players in the league. He might put on a show in this one.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Denver -2.5
This is a one game referendum of how open the coaching staff can be about their QB. They can let Paxton Lynch wing it around the yard and let the defense do what they do.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Denver 24 – Oakland 17
Oakland will be concerned only about McGloin and how he looks and feels out there. They will be experimenting a little.
