What’s up everyone it’s your boy Lavoie here with a pick for the final week of the regular season in the NFL (which might be a good thing for me the way I am going). But fear not, a couple hungry dogs in this one with seeding and playoff implications on the line.
So with the line info above in mind, let’s find out what these two squads are up to.
The Dolphins have been a shock to many this season. After dropping 7 in a row after week 1 they completely altered their course and won 8 straight and are currently outside of the wild card race looking in.
A lot needs to happen in order for them to make it in but it is still possible. Now 7 of those 8 wins came against teams with losing records but nonetheless, they are really rolling right now despite dropping one last week to the Titans.
The Patriots just dropped a 40 burger on the reeling Jacksonville Jaguars who are the worst franchise in the league but in doing so punched their ticket to the playoffs after missing last season.
So, what have these AFC East rivals been up too since they met in week 1 which saw the fish squeak by the pats 17-16?
New England Patriots
The Patriots last draft class contained Christian Barmore, Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie quarterback Mac Jones among some others. Just them alone warrants giving them an A.
They have stepped in and been very productive for Josh McDaniels and Steve Belichick. Stevenson has a unique and patient running style that has complimented Damien Harris perfectly.
Mac Jones looked to be hitting a rookie wall in week 14 and 15 but had an outstanding performance last Sunday.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins even during their win streak are in the red offensively. They give up more yards and points per game on average.
They rank 26th in points per play, 25th in yards per game, and 24th in points per game. This team does have some really glaring weaknesses that weren’t exactly exposed during their win streak against some pretty weak opponents.
When they beat the Patriots in week 1, New England hadn’t really hit their stride yet or found out what they were good at it which is something they notoriously figure out around week 4 even during the Tom Brady era.

The Patriots starters will all be in as the seeding in their AFC playoff race still matters. If the Bills lose and the Pats win they take the division, and if the Chiefs, Bengals and Titans all lose as well they actually take the 1st seed and a bye.
Now, the odds of that happening are obviously astronomical, but Bill will always play for it if there’s a chance to get his a team week off.
