This has been a pretty quiet summer for the Dolphins. They made a trade with Pittsburgh that caught some attention but after that it has been business as usual, save some concerns about whether Tyreek Hill still has his fastball.
If the Dolphins are healthy they will be in the mix for the second place spot in the AFC East, well behind Buffalo.
In Chicago it i the total opposite. Change was coming, Ben Johnson finally accepting a coaching jobs this offseason, but that was just the beginning.
Caleb Williams is a talent, one who has to master the art of saying nothing, it seems.
There appears to be a steep learning curve for the second-year QB in Johnson’s system and the “other stuff” only exacerbates the whole thing.
Nevertheless, the Bears are expected to win on Sunday afternoon.
Miami Dolphins
I feel like the Dolphins have enough continuity on offense to be effective early. Even though I am not sure how much they risk with Tua.
After that, Zach Wilson has experience and feels like the exact right type of player to thrive when it does not matter at all, doesn’t it.
The top skill players are out but the schemes have been known to create advantage.
When they are on defense, there is not much to get excited about with this group. I am expecting more of a going through the motions kind of approach.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have not had a winning season since Cam Newton and that is not expected to change this season. Even if Young proves not to be a whiff there is not a lot on this roster to get excited about.
They do have a little momentum given they won three more games than they did a year ago but that is a pretty low bar.
While there might be some talent there just are not a lot of difference makers on either side of the ball. That makes them tough to back as favorites, in any situation.

Some preseason games have a little bit of juice because the teams are supposed to be good or there is a player where there is a lot of intrigue. Neither is the case for this one. Even though it is on Sunday it is off the radar.
Look for both teams to play this one very simply and unless one is really making a lot of mistakes there will not be a ton of separation, not with the Dolphins playmakers on the sidelines.
Ben Johnson waited a while for a “good situation” to take the reigns of and he thought he had it in Chicago but now he has to be wondering if Caleb Williams is the right quarterback to be “married” to.
We won’t find out everything in this game but it should be noticeable that the Bears are different than recent vintages, at least on offense.
Miami should be further ahead in their readiness due to continuity on the sidelines and that is enough for me to back them in this spot.
