The Colts are coming off a great season where they finished 10-6 and clinched a Wild Card spot. The party, however, was short lived losing to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead. This year they will be looking for a deeper run in the playoffs and their roster suggests they can do just that.
The Bills had a very Bills like season last year going 6-10 and losing out on the playoffs. With last year firmly behind them, they will be looking for a bounce back season as the franchise appears to have found their quarterback in Josh Allen. Allen did show a lot of great signs for a rookie despite his accuracy problems as he was able to run all over opposing defenses in Lamar Jackson-esque style and has an absolute cannon of an arm.
The Colts come into this year at +1400 to take home the Lombardi trophy and given their roster and outstanding QB the hype is likely justified. In terms of this preseason game the Colts will not be playing Andrew Luck but we will see plenty of the second string QB Jacoby Brissett.
Brissett being their main QB in this game gives the Colts a big boost as he is a low tier NFL starter in his own right. The depth of this squad does not just stop at the QB position either with guys like Mo Allie Cox at TE likely to feature in this game and running backs like Nyheim Hines who got a decent amount of run with the first team last year. The depth the Colts possess will be on full display Thursday night in Orchard Park and are deserving favorites in this one.
The Bills, unlike their opponents Thursday night, will likely be giving some playing time to their starter Josh Allen ( most likely a quarter). Matt Barkley and Tyree Jackson should take up the rest of the playing time at QB for the Bills in this one.
Looking at the depth chart, it becomes apparent very quickly that the Bills are a defensive minded team as they have game breakers at virtually every defensive position along with suitable backups. I think they will have the edge in this one on the defensive side of the ball, but in the end the Colts might be too much.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Colts -2.5
I would look for a moderate scoring game here with the Colts covering the -2.5 as their depth should be too much for the Bills to handle, despite the Bills having a strong defense.
NFL Free Preseason Score Prediction: Colts 21 – Bills 13
Cash in on the Colts here as -2.5 does look like value.
