The Patriots are starting the year exactly how I knew they would the recent injury to Mac Jones notwithstanding. Bill Belichick still thinks he can run the ball and play defence which would work if he had good running backs or a good defence.
Not to shit on the boys too much I like Harris and Stevenson as well as the dawgs on defence but they simply are not a talented enough squad to play ball like it’s the eighties and expect to hang in there against the Dolphins or Bills or the Packers.
They did just take them to OT on Sunday however, it was a poorly played game by the Packers moreso than a great performance from the Pats.
The Lions on the other hand are the most fun team in the NFL with the best offence and the worst defence. It’s just point city in every game they play and I love watching them.
So without further ado, let’s dive in.
Detroit Lions
The Lions are hopefully getting some guys back from injury after losing all their big weapons so keep an eye on that situation. But when this offence takes the field it’s absolutely electric.
They fire the ball all the time but also have the backfield to set it up.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are sort of the opposite except less extreme. Their defence is pretty solid, good pass rush decent against the pass and slowing down quarterbacks and great against the run.
The offence on the other hand is atrocious. Their scripted drives early in the game look good but they have difficulty closing them out with touchdowns and are always behind the game trying to play catch-up
This team is not explosive enough to play that kinda game and win, they needed to make more moves to help the roster be more competitive in such a talent laden conference.
On top of all that, they might be playing with a third string quarterback.
