Looking for 2021 New Orleans Saints Predictions? NFL Saints Predictions & Handicapping Insight
2021/22 NFL Team Predictions – New Orleans Saints
- Saints 2021 Win Total NFL Odds: 8.5 (Over -165/Under +135)
- New Orleans Saints NFC South Odds: +300
- New Orleans Saints NFC Championship Odds: +1300
- New Orleans Saints 2022 Super Bowl Odds: +2800
Key Additions:
- DE Payton Turner
The New Orleans Saints did not make a ton of offseason additions, as they struggle with their cap situation. Defensive end Payton Turner was the Saints first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and the Houston product will need to make an impact quickly for this Saints defense to continue on at the high level they have been at for the past few years.
Key Losses:
- QB Drew Brees
- WR Emmanuel Sanders
- TE Jared Cook
- DT Sheldon Rankins
- CB Janoris Jenkins
The Saints lost a host of excellent players this offseason with the most important being their hall of fame QB Drew Brees who called it a career leaving the Saints with Jameis Winston in his place.
Emmanuel Sanders was also lost and with the news that Michael Thomas will be out for the foreseeable future that might end up being more impactful than it initially appeared. There are now some concerns about TE Adam Trautman in camp, as it looks like he is a bit banged up and miss time, so the loss of Jared Cook might also be an important one.
The New Orleans Saints also moved on from one of their former first round picks Sheldon Rankins and although he was a solid player for many years he never really lived up to the hype and the team opted not to sign him to a big long-term contract. Once again on the defensive side of things, the Saints lost Janoris Jenkins who was another guy who was decent, but not great for the team.
2021 New Orleans Saints Predictions: Offseason Analysis
The New Orleans Saints certainly lost a lot, and the question will be just how effectively the Saints will be able to replace those guys in order to remain competitive in what has become a very tough division.
They did lose a lot of guys who were not playing incredibly well and that does include Drew Brees who remained unbelievably accurate, but he just was not able to push the ball down the field any longer.
This offseason can’t really be seen as a positive, but given their brutal cap situation I think they cut ties with the right players and that will lead to a quicker rebuild in the post-Brees era, so maybe in some ways it is a good offseason for those thinking years down the road.
2021 New Orleans Saints Win Total Prediction:
New Orleans was one of the elite teams last year, and I think they will still be extremely competitive in this division, so long as Jameis Winston can avoid throwing the ball to the wrong team and at least during these preseason games he is showing some promise.
Even with the offseason losses this team could actually see improvement off of last year if Winston really hits his stride, as the quarterback play in New Orleans was not great in the playoffs last season with no over-the-top threat. One thing we know about Jameis is that he can chuck the ball, and if he hits on some of those throws this New Orleans offense can be even more dynamic then in the past.
