Friday, February 28th, the Washington Wizards will take on the Utah Jazz in the clubs’ second and final meeting of the season. In the initial meeting on January 12th, the Jazz won 127-116.
Last season, the teams played twice with the Jazz winning both games. The Jazz hold the all-time record having bested the Wizards in 57 of their 105 matches

The Wizards had closed the gap between themselves and the Orlando Magic winning five of seven but then promptly lost three in a row to fall back of the eighth seed by 4.5 games.

Although technically not out of the running they’ll have an uphill battle to catch the teams on the bottom of the Eastern Conference ladder.
Washington took one large step in that direction with a big win over the current seventh-seeded Nets in their last outing. The Wizards jumped on the Nets from the tip taking a 31-17 first quarter lead and then gave it all back in the third frame (37-21).
They buckled down to win the final frame (29-22) and capture the victory. Bradley Beal entered the match having put up 53 points on Chicago and 55 on Milwaukee in consecutive games.
The shooting guard led the scoring for his team again although he kept it to 30 points in this outing. Rookie Rui Hachimura (17) and Jerome Robinson were the only other double-figure scorers.
On the season Beal leads the team in scoring (30.1) and assists (6.0), Thomas Bryant for rebounds (7.3) and field goal percentage (59.0%). Shabazz Napier for steals (1.6) and Ian Mahinmi for blocks (1.2).
Other than John Wall (Achilles) who is out for the season the Wizards are finally healthy.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz continues to spiral with their fourth loss in a row. Although they battled the Celtics they weren’t able to close the deal. By virtue of the loss, Utah dropped to the sixth seed.
The Jazz is still trying to integrate Mike Conley into their system to ill effect. For the match versus the Celtics, the team discussed bringing Conley off the bench but eventually elected to move Joe Ingles to the bench. Royce O’Neale started in his place.
Donovan Mitchell led his team with 37 points. The only other double-figure scorers were Conley (15) and O’Neale (14).
On the season, Donovan Mitchell is the team leader in scoring (24.7 points) and steals (1.1). Rudy Gobert tops the rebounding (14.2), field goal percent (69.0) and block (1.9) categories. Joe Ingles rounds out the group with 5.1 assists per game.
Nigel Williams-Goss missed his last four games with a left quadriceps contusion, and will not return to the court Friday against the Wizards.
Ed Davis has been in and out of the lineup all season with a series of injuries. He’s currently on a nine-game absence dealing with an ankle injury and back spasms and remains out with no definitive return date.
