Washington Wizards
Washington gave up 152 points in a nineteen-point loss in Atlanta on Sunday.
Trae Young had forty-five points and fourteen assists for the Hawks. Bradley Beal scored forty for Washington.
It was the third game this season the Wizards gave up at least 150 points. They have also surrendered 140 twice and a score in the 130s six times.

With the exception of Beal, three Wizards’ reserves played more than the rest of the starters. Troy Brown, Isn Smith and Davis Bertans all played at least twenty-nine minutes and scored in double-figures. Jordan McRae, another reserve, had twelve points in nineteen minutes.
The rookie Rui Hachimura continued to sit out with a tricky groin injury. He practiced fully on Saturday but the Wizards’ staff apparently wants to see a little more before he returns. The hope is that Hachimura will play sometime later this week. He hasn’t played since December 16 when he was on his way to a ninth consecutive game in double-digits before going down mid-game.
The Wizards haven’t met the Bucks yet this season. This will be the first of four meetings with another in February and two more in March.
Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee beat Chicago by thirteen points over a week ago on Monday January 20 and then it won at Charlotte by the same margin four days later for its eighth win in a row. Otherwise, it has been off.
So the Bucks, who are about to begin a stretch of three consecutive home games, come in rested and 34–3 in their last thirty-seven. The injury report is clear. Sterling Brown and Robin Lopez both missed the game in Charlotte on Thursday but should be good to go in this one.
All of Milwaukee’s Eastern Conference challengers have lost a couple times since the last time the Bucks lost. As a result, Milwaukee has opened up an eight-game lead in the loss column over its three closest competitors: Boston, Toronto and Miami.
Head Coach Mike Budenholzer has managed to limit Giannis Antetokounmpo’s minutes even more than in his MVP season a year ago. The Greek Freak is only averaging thirty minutes per game but he’s scoring slightly more with just barely fewer turnovers.
He’s already got the MVP and his team is running away with home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Antetokounmpo will have as much rest as he needs down the stretch.
