Washington Wizards

The Wizards were last in action on November 8 when they lost by double-digits at home to Cleveland. Their last two games have both been double-digit losses.

But four days off should have Washington feeling as fresh as it’s ever going to be ahead of three consecutive road games beginning in Boston.

This will be yet another return to Boston for Isaiah Thomas. He’s been scoring the ball pretty well for Washington this season, averaging over 13 points per game in just about 23 minutes per.

Bradley Beal is the volume scorer at over 26 per game but his percentages have been dreadful in the first tenth of the season. He’s shooting down around 40% from the field and under 30% from three-point land. He certainly attracts a lot of attention without many other threats around him.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics outlasted the Mavericks on Monday at the TD Garden, 116–106. The game was close throughout but Kemba Walker hit four three-pointers in the fourth quarter to finish with 29 points and Boston pulled away.

Luka Doncic had 34 for Dallas but Boston shut Kristaps Porzingis down, limiting him to 1-for-11 from the field for four points.

Jaylen Brown had 25 points and the combination of Brad Wanamaker, Robert Williams, and Javonte Green matched the total.

Twelve guys played at least five minutes for Boston, which was playing its first game without Gordon Hayward this season. He’s set to miss the next six weeks as his broken hand heals. There will be no shortage of opportunities for the young folks in the meantime. Romeo Langford got the call from the G-League before the game but didn’t log any minutes.

The Celtics haven’t lost since their opening night defeat in Philly.

I like the Celtics, even with Washington on the long layoff. Boston is playing too well to drop a game like this to a team it should simply be able to beat by running its stuff and playing hard on both ends.

Look for Jayson Tatum to bounce back after a low output against the Mavericks. Ultimately, Boston is going to turn to him for an uptick of offense with Hayward sidelined.
