The Washington Wizards sunk to a new recent low in 2018/2019. They missed the playoffs for the first time in three seasons and finished under .500 for the first time since 2013.
Unfortunately for them, 32 wins may not have represented rock-bottom. With John Wall set to make nearly $38 million to rehab the season after tearing his Achilles tendon, Washington had little flexibility to add any helpful pieces in the offseason while several bottom-dwellers in the Eastern Conference made minor improvements.
Washington Wizards Strengths:
I don’t see many. Or maybe I should say any.
Bradley Beal is all I have to write about. He’s a premier two-way guard in the NBA yet often flies under the radar because he’s either in John Wall’s shadow or trying to carry a team that just doesn’t have enough to compete.
He’ll be trying to do the ladder all season, which makes him a candidate to average over 25 points per game for a second consecutive season. Last season was his most statistically productive ever

Not only did he see a career-high in per game scoring, he reached five rebounds per game for the first time in his career and dished out 5.5 assists per game, another career-high.
Beal is going to have full reign in Washington’s offense but he’ll also command the full attention of the opposing defense.
Washington Wizards Weaknesses:
Where will Beal get his help? The Wizards brought in Isaiah Thomas, the diminutive former Celtic who just hasn’t been healthy since that fantastic season three years ago now. He’s on a team-friendly deal now and that’s when he’s always been at his best. Perhaps the Wiz will get some scoring punch from IT; they sure could use it.
Washington also acquired Moritz Wagner, the former Michigan Wolverine who had that terrific run in the NCAA Tournament two years ago. He was decent in limited opportunities with the Lakers as a rookie but had to go in order to make the Anthony Davis deal work out.

The Wizards were the beneficiaries. Wagner will get plenty of opportunity to develop in Washington.
Otherwise, there isn’t much to be excited about in DC. The Wizards have to rebuild but they’re too tied up in contracts to even begin yet. You could be looking at the worst team in basketball this season, especially if Beal hurts himself trying to carry the load.
Washington Wizards Betting Prediction: 24-58
The ceiling is just so low. I just can’t imagine a scenario where the Wizards even sniff .500.
The overwhelming possibility if that this team flounders all season, Beal doesn’t stay healthy nor happy, and the front office shows Scott Brooks the door, either at the end of the season or even before.
The Wizards will compete with the Knicks, Cavs, and Hornets in the Eastern Conference’s tank standings and I liken them to finish under their win total, which is anywhere between 26.5 and 28.5, depending where you do your shopping.
