On Sunday, April 10th, the Utah Jazz, and Portland Trail Blazers will meet for the fourth and final time this season. The Jazz will be seeking a regular-season series sweep having won the matches on November 29th (129-107), December 29th (120-105), and March 9th (123-85).
Both teams last played Friday with the Jazz failing to hold onto a lead losing 105-111 to the Suns while the Blazers got absolutely routed 78-128 by Mavericks.
Last season, the teams played three times with the Jazz winning two of the three contests. The Jazz holds the all-time record having bested the Blazers in 109 of their 198 matches.
Utah Jazz
Like the Bulls in the East, the team many of the Western squads would prefer to face in the first round is the Utah Jazz who’s won three times in their last 10 matches.
Since the All-Star break, they are 12-11 and haven’t looked like a team that will do much damage in the postseason.
Making matters worse the Jazz struggles to hold onto leads and coughed up a double-digit lead once again on Friday marking the sixth time this season that’s happened.
Utah can finish in the fifth or sixth seed but control their destiny with a victory today. They’d drop to sixth if they lose and the Nuggets beat the Lakers.
Trent Forrest (foot) was downgraded to out Sunday versus the Blazers. Udoka Azubuike (ankle) is out for the season.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers arrive at the final game of the regular season on a 10-game losing streak and have won a single time in their last 15 matches.
In fact, Portland has reinvented how to tank mid-season having only won twice since the All-Star break.
Part of the strategy was sitting players who were dealing with the typical bumps and bruises of a season that they would play through if the Blazers were vying for a playoff seed.
It’s been a battle for first-year head coach Chauncey Billups who detests players not giving effort even more than he does losing.
We’ll have to see whether his status is impacted this offseason but hopefully, he’ll be given a fair shake with a full roster to see what the Blazers can do in 2022.
Greg Brown III (knee) is probable, Drew Eubanks (wrist), CJ Elleby (illness), Keljin Blevins (illness), are questionable while Kris Dunn (ankle), Justise Winslow (calf), and Josh Hart (knee) were downgraded to out Sunday.
Eric Bledsoe (Achilles), Damian Lillard (abdominal), Jusuf Nurkic (plantar fasciitis), Anfernee Simons (quad), and Trendon Watford (knee) are all out indefinitely. Joe Ingles (ACL), and Nassir Little (shoulder) are out for the season.

Free Utah Jazz vs. Portland Trail Blazers NBA Prediction:
Everything that’s happened this season doesn’t matter for the Jazz who will be judged by their postseason play. Still, they’ll want to remove the bad taste of the Friday loss with a win on the final day.
Utah lost the regular-season series 1-3 to the Warriors and split their series versus the Mavericks but lost the last two meetings with the reformulated Dallas squad so won’t be favored versus either club although the health of Stephen Curry looms.
Having lost by 50 points and with the Jazz looking to rebound it’s likely Utah wins but I think Billups gets his squad amped up to keep the score closer than 17.5.
