Sunday, December 8th, 2019, finds the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers tipping off for the second time with the Raptors taking the first meeting 101-96, November 25th.
Last season, Toronto won three of the four meetings. The Raptors hold the all-time record having bested the 76ers in 55 of their 93 contests.

The Raptors were in both matches but experiencing issues reintegrating Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka back into the lineup since it throws off the timing and rhythm the team had while shorthanded.
Lowry rebounded from his first game back scoring 19 points (plus eight dimes, five rebounds). Ibaka looked less comfortable and it showed on both sides of the hardwood although he did collect 10 points.
Pascal Siakam led scoring efforts with 24 points plus nine rebounds, Fred VanVleet scored 20 points while Norm Powell chipped in 14.
Nick Nurse tried a defensive scheme to lock down James Harden which was relatively effective since he scored just 23 points. But, the scheme led to wide-open shot opportunities for the Rockets who happily delivered 22 triples on 55 attempts.
Siakam leads the team in scoring (25.0 points) and rebounding (8.6). Fred VanVleet is the leader for assists (7.3) and steals (2.0). OG Anunoby holds the team’s best field goal percent (52.1) and Marc Gasol is the top block man with 1.0 per game.
Patrick McCaw (knee) and Stanely Johnson (groin) are expected back mid-December while Matt Thomas (broken finger) is out until month-end.
Philadelphia 76ers
This will be the second game of a back-to-back set for Philly who fortunately faces the hapless Cavaliers on the front end. Still, they’ll be looking to take out their angst on Cleveland after a poor effort in Washington but without their big man.

Joel Embiid sustained a hip contusion in the Wizards match which depending on severity may keep him out Sunday. Or this could be cautionary game management given the ax he has to grind with Toronto for his scoreless outing.
In the loss, the 76ers allowed Washington to drop 40 points on them in the second quarter and never fully recovered. Despite his injury, Embiid was masterful dropping a double-double of 26 points and 21 rebounds.
Tobias Harris led the scoring efforts with 33 points while Raul Neto and Al Horford each chipped in 10 points. Ben Simmons also produced a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists.
On the season, Joel Embiid is the team leader in scoring (22.6) and rebounds (12.7). Ben Simmons leads the team in assists (8.5), steals (2.4) and field goal percent (54.4%). Al Horford tops the blocks category with 1.0
In addition to Embiid, Josh Richardson who missed the last four games nursing a sore hamstring is out Saturday with no update for Sunday. Kyle O’Quinn missed several games with a left calf strain and the team is hopeful he’ll return soon.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Raptors are 6-4 in the last 10 head to head contests.
- The teams are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games.
- Over Under is 3-7 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers NBA Prediction:
The big question is whether Joel Embiid will play and how hampered he’ll be by the hip contusion. Philly is 10-0 at home and could be 11-0 by the time this match tips off which will provide some added motivation for both sides.
Toronto lost back-to-back games (both at home) for the first time this season and will be anxious to recover with a win over their Atlantic rival.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Raptors plus points unless Embiid plays – then reverse it
Given the rest advantage and uncertainty of Embiid playing the edge has to go to the Raptors – but if Embiid plays things change dramatically in favor of the 76ers. The score below is reflective of no Embiid but if reports update him to active switch the winner to Philly with a three-point edge.
