Free Toronto Raptors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Prediction:
Saturday, January 18th, the Toronto Raptors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the clubs first meeting of the season. Both clubs are playing the second game of back to back sets.
Last season, the teams played twice with Toronto winning both games and are currently on a three-game win streak over Minnesota. The Raptors hold the all-time record having bested the Timberwolves in 31 of their 46 matches

Despite staying afloat via the league’s second ranked defense the Raptors offense slid with so many star players out injured.

However, with Marc Gasol’s return to the lineup in Oklahoma City and Fred VanVleet set to return in Minnesota it will be just the eighth game this season Toronto won’t be missing at least one starter or core contributor.
In the matches versus the Thunder and Wizards, Nick Nurse elected to start an ultra big lineup featuring OG Anunoby at the shooting guard position and a frontcourt of Pascal Siakam, Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol with Kyle Lowry running the point.
It’s paid huge dividends with Toronto scoring 130 and 140 points in back to back games. In the win over the Wizards, the final score isn’t indicative of how dominant the Raptors were. They recorded two franchise-best records of 22 triples and 140 points (in regulation).
In addition, they dished 35 dimes and scored 34 fast break points. All five starters scored in double figures while reserves Norman Powell (28) and Terence Davis (23) led the scoring.
With the game well in hand four reserves played between 19 and 30 minutes which means none of the starters played over 29 minutes.
Team leaders are Pascal Siakam in scoring (24.6), Kyle Lowry with assists (7.8), Norman Powell for field goal percentage (50.8), Chris Boucher for blocks (0.9) and OG Anunoby tops both rebounds (5.8) and steals (1.1).
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Wolves played a scrappy match versus the Pacers to finish the home and home series in Indiana but lost in the final seconds 116-114 making it their fourth loss in a row.
Karl-Anthony Towns returned to the lineup after missing 14 consecutive games with a left knee sprain producing a line of 27 points, five rebounds, and an assist.
Yet the big news out of Minnesota was the trade which sent Jeff Teague and Treveon Graham to the Atlanta Hawks for Allen Crabbe.
Presumably, this is just the initial trade to create a roster spot along with Crabbe’s expiring contract in order to pursue another player which if the Wolves want to make Karl-Anthony Towns happy is likely D’Angelo Russell.
Back to back losses to the Pacers stings, particularly Friday’s match which Minnesota fought back to erase an 11 point deficit late in the fourth quarter.
Newly acquired Allen Crabbe won’t play Saturday nor will Jake Layman (toe sprain) who remains out with no definitive return date.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Raptors are 7-3 ATS in their last 10
- The Wolves are 7-3 in last 10 head to head
- Over Under is 6-4 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
