It is said until a team wins on the road it’s not a series. Through four games this adage has held true with both teams holding home court. Now the series shifts to a best of three and will take a minimum of six games to decide.
Kawhi Leonard has carried the Raptors on his back. But, after suffering some sort of leg issue in Game 3, clearly looked hobbled and tired after playing 52 minutes in Game 3.
Offensive support finally arrived with every player except Green delivering. Kyle Lowry set the tone early and was arguably the best player on the court for the home side with Marc Gasol coming a close second.
Pascal Siakam who logged close to 52 minutes himself in Game 3 registered his poorest effort of the postseason.
Fred VanVleet who hadn’t scored in double digits since Game 1 of the opening round seemingly rediscovered his true self. VanVleet welcomed his second child, Fred Jr. on Monday and cited that event for his turnaround as he produced 13 points and six assists.
Likewise, Serge Ibaka awoke to beast on the glass and register a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Norm Powell who has been the most consistent off the bench produced a line of 18 points, 3 assists and 5 rebounds.
OG Anunoby (appendectomy) remains out and is said to be approximately a week away which likely means he won’t play unless Toronto advances to the NBA Finals.
Giannis Antetokounmpo took the blame for the double-overtime loss and came out with aggression and purpose. He attacked the paint, scoring 11 first quarter points but scored just 14 the rest of the way.
Khris Middleton was unstoppable registering 30 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds and tried to will the Bucks into the guaranteed win he cited for Milwaukee.
Unfortunately, Malcolm Brogdon who has been stellar through three games had his worst outing of the series scoring just four points on 2 of 11 shooting.
Eric Bledsoe continues to struggle and each of Ersan Ilyasova, Brook Lopez, and Nikola Mirotic were held in check offensively and exposed defensively.
Nick Nurse seems to have figured out a way to slow the Bucks others and make Antetokounmpo less effective but again much will depend on whether this strategy can carry over to Milwaukee.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Bucks are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 head to head contests.
- Bucks hold a 6-4 record in last 10 head to head meetings.
- The over-under is 7-3 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups.
Free Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction:
Other than the loss in Game 1 against the Celtics the Bucks have faced little to no adversity. Giannis suggested they are fine, will stick to their system and get back on track in Game 5.
From the Raptors side of the equation, the question will be whether Leonard is limited by his injury.
At this point, it feels like whichever teams reserves show up will have the advantage which leans toward the home side.
That said if the Raptors jump on the Bucks and they begin to feel the pressure Toronto could squeak out a narrow victory with Milwaukee not having anyone aside from George Hill with the experience of a deep playoff run.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Take Raptors and points
Although this series could easily go the distance I remain in the minority who believe the Raptors experience, high I.Q and being better prepared from the adversity of the 76ers series will give them the series edge.
Witnessing how the team rallied around Kawhi I suspect they’ll also want to do everything in their power to get Leonard two extra days of rest and avoid another flight since the Finals are slated to start May 30.
Ultimately, I think the lack of experience on the Bucks will cause them to panic in a tight situation which is what I see this game being.
