Friday, November 4th, finds the Toronto Raptors facing the Dallas Mavericks in the first of two meetings this season. The Raptors will host the second contest on November 26th.
Both teams played on Wednesday with the Raptors absolutely spanking the Spurs 143-100 while the Mavericks held on to defeat the Jazz 103-100.
Last season, the squads played twice with Dallas winning both contests. The Mavericks hold the advantage all-time having won 29 times of the club’s 51 meetings.
Toronto Raptors
To open the season the Raptors had arguably the most difficult schedule and that fact seems to be on point considering how well they’re playing now that teams considered in the middle and lower tiers are on tap.
Case in point, through their last two matches the margin of victory by Toronto has been 30 points (versus Hawks) and 43 points (versus Spurs). That’s resulted in the Raptors leapfrogging several teams as they move up several positions in key categories.
In the recent game, Pascal Siakam delivered a triple-double (22 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) in 28 minutes.
Toronto averages 113.9 points per game which rank 16th (a week ago the Dinos were in the bottom five). From an efficiency perspective, the Raps shoot 46.4% from the field and 38.6% from the perimeter which ranks 15th and sixth respectively.
On the defensive side of the court, the Raptors hold opponents to 105.8 points per game which ranks second. Toronto’s opponents shoot 46.1 percent from the field (three-way tie for 13th) and 36.3 percent from deep which ranks 21st.
Fred VanVleet (back) is questionable for Friday.
Dallas Mavericks
Dallas finally won consecutive games after alternating losses and wins since the season started. Luka Doncic led the way dropping a double-double of 33 points and 11 assists plus five rebounds. Christian Wood joined in with his own double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds.
They’re also all over the place with their scoring dropping just over 100 points in two matches, 111 and 114 in three of their matches and then breakout out for 129 and 137 in the other two which equates to an average of 115.7 points per game.
From an efficiency perspective, the Mavs shoot 48 percent from the field (tied for fifth) and 35 percent from deep which ranks 18th.
On the defensive side of the floor, the Mavs allow opponents to score 109 points per game ranking seventh, and to shoot 47.9% (25th) from the field and 33.3% from the perimeter (7th).
Frank Ntilikina (ankle) and Davis Bertains (knee) are questionable for Friday.

Free Toronto Raptors vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA Prediction:
At season start, Pascal Siakam told the assembled media he wanted to be considered a top-five player in the league. His play through the small sample of eight games sure seems on track for that proclamation: 25.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 7.9 assists shooting 36.1% from deep.
Doncic is the favorite of most national media members to win MVP this year and is averaging 36.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 9.0 assists, and shooting 23.7% from deep.
Given those dynamics expect Siakam to come out motivated to lead Toronto to victory and deliver a complete game forcing the media to consider his early season performance and his desire to be considered a top-5 NBA player while captaining his squad to a deep run.
