It’s impossible to ignore that the Celtics have owned the Raptors with that 14 of 15 wins note. This just hasn’t been a great matchup for the Dinos in the past several seasons.
On paper, the Raps should be able to win given how well they defend the perimeter (eighth best in NBA). And while Toronto is among the league’s best at creating turnovers and turning them into easy points, Boston is the best at protecting the ball with just 12.2 TOs on average per game.
Per John Schuhmann: There were worries about Boston’s frontline coming into the season, but the Celtics now rank third in total rebounding percentage (their highest standing in the last 17 seasons), having seen the league’s fourth biggest jump from last season (11th).
While Brown is the head of the snake, don’t ignore how important Derrick White is to this iteration of the Celtics. White began the season on a cold shooting spree, particularly from deep. He’s since turned that around, and not coincidentally, it occurred as Boston began to rise the ladder.
I like Boston to win the match, but I’ll take the points and Toronto to keep the final score closer than a 10-point differential.
