Following the first-ever televised NBA All-Star Draft (something that has gotten better but can still be improved by having all participants present at the time of the draft itself), Team Giannis and Team LeBron are set to square off in this year’s All-Star Game.
Although the draft was a bit laughable in the sense that LeBron’s strategy was painfully obvious from the beginning (draft anyone and everyone he could potentially woo and recruit to Los Angeles), the competition should be worth watching.

All-Star Games are always difficult to predict—beyond the fact that it’s going to be ridiculously high scoring—but we have a pretty good idea as to how this one is going to turn out.
Team LeBron
Team LeBron is favored by six points for a reason: His team is ridiculously stacked—and that’s saying something for an All-Star Game.
As much as Giannis has a claim as “one of” the best players in the world, Team LeBron contains the near-consensus two best in James himself and Kevin Durant. LeBron took KD first last year behind the scenes, and he had no problem doing it against with the cameras on this time around.
Beyond KD and James, Team LeBron has a number of players who can also make top-five in the NBA claims. James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis being those names.
Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving will provide lethal shooting, and Lillard, despite coming off the bench in last year’s unofficial midseason spectacle, scored an impressive 21 points in fewer than 21 minutes.
In total, Team LeBron has a total of 81 All-Star appearances among them.
That’s compared to 52 total All-Star appearances among Team Giannis participants.
Experience isn’t the most important thing in this contest, but knowing when to let off the gas and when to kick things into gear is important for anyone trying to actually win this exhibition.

Team Giannis
Statistically, Team Giannis doesn’t have many advantages over Team LeBron, but it does have one big one.
Three-point shooting.
Although Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t going to light up the league this season down the stretch with his long ball, he has shot an improved 35 percent from behind the arc over the past month. He’s adding to his game, and what better time than in a pure showcase to get up extra reps?
He also has Paul George, Dirk Nowitzki, Joel Embiid and Khris Middleton to share in the deep-range showdown…oh, and he also has some guy named Stephen Curry.
Quite frankly, Curry is going to be the difference-maker here one way or the other. If he’s on his game, going for a career-best in three-pointers made in an All-Star Game, things are going to be good for Team Giannis. If he lays back and considers this exhibition a chance to chill and take a legitimate break, his squad is going to be in trouble.
Lucky for this group, Steph is in front of his hometown crowd—Charlotte, where he spent much of his youth.

That’s an important factor, as homecomings are often given extra opportunities on the court by their teammates, and Team Giannis also has Kemba Walker in that category as well.
Free Team LeBron vs. Team Giannis NBA Prediction:
We’re not kidding about Curry being a difference-maker. Somehow, almost inexplicably, this particular Splash Bro has never hit more than six three-pointers in an All-Star Game. I have the feeling he’s going to try for 10-plus this go-round.
If that ends up being the case, Team Giannis makes this a contest.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Team Giannis +6
If the spread were closer here, we’d be all about Team LeBron. Because when it’s all said and done, they should get the victory.
But with Steph and Kemba ready to show out in front of the home crowd (which admittedly means different things for different guys), this one is going down to the wire.
Take Team LeBron straight up; take Team Giannis against the spread.
