San Antonio Spurs
After San Antonio beat Atlanta on Tuesday, it had to fly to Denver to take on the Nuggets Wednesday. That one didn’t go well, as San Antonio lost by nearly 30 points in the tough spot, 113–85.
Nikola Jokic scored 20 points and came one assist shy of a triple-double. He led six Nuggets in double-figures, though Monte Morris and Malik Beasley scored 19 points apiece.

The Spurs got 16 from its two top scorers, LaMarcus Aldridge and rookie Lonnie Walker, who isn’t in the main nine-man rotation but has been getting minutes as the 10th guy of late. He played 16 minutes (most of which came in garbage time) and scored 16.

So the Spurs get a day off before going to Washington, followed by another day off before going to Cleveland. They will take two days off before finishing the season vs. Dallas.
They could still catch the Clippers and the Jazz, though the possibility of catching just one looks exceedingly unlikely after the loss in Denver. The Spurs are now a loss worse than the Thunder, who finish vs. Detroit, at Minnesota, and then with a back-to-back vs. Houston and at Milwaukee.
Washington Wizards
The Wizards lost as 11-point favorites on Wednesday night, at home, against Chicago. The Bulls trotted out Walt Lemon Jr. (out of Bradley University) and Shaquille Harrison in the backcourt and didn’t have Otto Porter Jr., Lauri Markannen, Zach LaVine, nor Kris Dunn, among some of the other longer-term injuries that have existed for a while (Wendell Carter Jr., Denzel Valentine).

That tells me the Wiz are done. I mean, they were never really not done. Washington hasn’t been going anywhere since a poor start that crescendoed with John Wall’s season-ending injury, followed by him slipping in the shower and tearing his Achille’s.
I just don’t think Washington is going to be at all competitive in this game, even if it is at home.
