As can be seen, Wednesday, February 1st, the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs play the third of four scheduled meetings this season. The Kings won both prior meetings on November 17th (130-112) and January 15th (132-119).
Sacramento will host the final meeting between the clubs on April 2nd.
Both clubs last played on Monday with the Kings defeating the Wolves 118-111 while the Spurs losing streak ballooned to six in a row with the loss 106-127 to the Wizards.
Last season, the squads played three times with Sacramento taking two of the three matches. The Spurs hold the all-time record having bested the Kings in 125 of their 189 matches.
*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, on Tuesday, January 31st. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Wednesday, February 1st.
Sacramento Kings
Although the overtime victory versus the Timberwolves won’t be cited as a statement win it was one of the most important victories for the Kings this season.
The Wolves were on a roll winning five of six and on a three-game win streak while the Kings had lost three of four and were in jeopardy of slipping down the standings.
With Domantas Sabonis fouling out it was De’Aaron Fox and Trey Lyles who stepped up and got the job done to keep a slim 1.5 margin over the charging fourth-place Clippers and keep the Kings in range of the Grizzlies who’ve had their own struggles of late.
Stats
Offensively, the Kings are among the very best in the association with the highest scoring output averaging 119.5 points per game. Similarly, they perform well in the proficiency areas registering 49.4% from the field and 36.9% from deep ranking third and ninth overall.
Sacramento ranks 22nd in opponent scoring allowing 116.5 points per game while foes shoot 48.8% from the field and 36.0% from the perimeter ranking 27th and 19th respectively.
No injuries of note.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs have two more games at the AT&T Center before they head out on the annual Rodeo trip for nine consecutive games. In fact, San Antonio will be on the road for 12 of 16 contests after they host the Kings and 76ers.
With a 5-15 road record the impending trip would typically be a time for the Spurs to lock down and seek a winning streak but this season it represents an opportunity to pad the loss column in an effort to win the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes.
Stats
On the other hand, on offense, the Spurs average 112.6 points per game ranking 23rd overall. So far, San Antonio shoots 47.0% from the field and 34.3% from the perimeter ranking 19th and 25th respectively.
On the negative side, while the Spurs struggle to score the larger issue lies on the defensive side of the hardware with them ranking 30th in all three defensive categories allowing 122.3 opponent points per game 51.0% field goal percentage, and 40.3% perimeter percentage.
At this time, Doug McDermott (back) is questionable for Tuesday while Devin Vassell (knee) is out indefinitely.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. San Antonio Spurs NBA Prediction:
For the majority of the season, the Spurs have languished as the worst defensive team in the association and with each update, the stats continue to go in the wrong direction.
I hesitate to think how bad things could get if Jakob Poeltl ends up being traded at the deadline. On the opposite side of the equation, the Kings are one of the best offensive clubs but need to shore up their defense if they want to be a serious contender.
I don’t typically like the big point spreads but in this instance, I’m rolling the dice Sacramento flourishes on both sides of the hardwood.
