Friday, December 6 finds the Sacramento Kings on the road to hosts the San Antonio Spurs in their first meeting this season.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Kings winning all three of the matches. The Spurs hold the all-time record having bested the Kings in 120 of their 178 matches.
Sacramento Kings
Since starting the season 0-5 the Kings went on a 7-3 run prior to their recent slide of 1-4 for an overall record of 8-12.

Clearly traveling overseas in the preseason created issues for the team which historically has been the case especially for young squads (see Pacers and Nets who also suffered from the travel overseas).
Sacramento has also navigated copious injuries but predominantly to their core which is taking a toll as evidenced by the recent losses. The Kings hope to stay close to the chase pack for a bottom playoff seed until Fox and Bagley return.
Six Kings scored in double-figures in the loss to the Blazers including Richaun Holmes who posted a double-double of 28 points (career-high) and 10 rebounds. Buddy Hield (23), Nemanja Bjelica (17), Yogi Ferrell (13), Cory Joseph (11) and Trevor Ariza were the other double-digit contributors.
Buddy Hield leads the team in scoring (20.9 points). Bogdan Bogdanovic is the leader in assists (4.7) and steals (1.4) while Rashaun Holmes has been a revelation leading in rebounds (8.4), field goal percentage (66.9%) and blocks (1.4).
Bogdanovic missed the previous game with a right knee contusion and is listed as questionable to play versus San Antonio.
Sacramento has navigated a series of injuries to core members of their team and will get some relief soon as Marvin Bagley III (broken thumb) is scheduled to return in early to mid-December and star De’Aaron Fox (grade 3 ankle sprain) will follow mid-month.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs may be having a hard time winning games but they sure give the upper echelon nightmares as they added the Houston Rockets to the list of top squads they’ve beat most recently as well as the Clippers.

The win versus the Rockets required double-overtime and didn’t come without controversy as James Harden’s dunk went through the hoop but bounced back out leaving the refs questioning it ever went through the net.
Officials didn’t allow Mike D’Antoni to challenge the play stating he had gone past the 30 second time limit. At the time, the Rockets led by 102-89 so the dunk would’ve extended the lead to 15 points.
Instead, the Spurs rallied behind the efforts of Lonnie Walker who scored 19 points in 7:50 of the final frame to draw the teams even with 115 points at the end of regulation.
Two overtime periods followed with the Spurs winning 135-133. Walker finished with 28 points while Bryn Forbes scored 25 and DeMar DeRozan served up 23 points, nine assists, and five rebounds.
Rudy Gay added 14 points and Derrick White chipped in with 12 points.
On the season, DeMar DeRozan is the team leader in scoring (21.7) and assists (4.7). LaMarcus Aldrige tops the team leaderboard for rebounding (6.7), field goal percent (51.7). and blocks (1.78) while Dejounte Murray is the steals leader (1.5).
Aldridge has missed the last two games for the Spurs due to right thigh soreness and is listed as questionable for the match Friday versus the Kings.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Spurs are 7-3 in the last 10 head to head contests.
- The Kings are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games.
- Over Under is 7-3 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Sacramento Kings vs. San Antonio Spurs NBA Prediction:
The Kings are 2-8 on the road while the Spurs are only .500 at home (6-6). The Spurs have two big wins in their last three games but the embarrassing loss to the Pistons will be top of mind as Gregg Popovich gets his squad amped to win the game against a club they should theoretically defeat.
