Wednesday, November 2nd, finds the Sacramento Kings facing the Miami Heat for the second and final time this season. They teams played recently in Sacramento with the Kings collecting their first win of the season (119-113).
Sacramento made it two in a row with the win in Charlotte on Monday (115-108) while the Heat returned home to play a back-to-back set featuring the Warriors on the front side, on Tuesday and a revenge win for Miami (116-109).
Last season, the squads played twice with each team winning on their home court. The Heat holds the all-time record having bested the Kings in 44 of their 68 matches.
Sacramento Kings
Mike Brown has ample work to do with his new squad on the defensive end of the court as the Kings allow 117.0 points per 100 possessions which ranks 28th.
Opponents are feasting both in terms of the amount of points they’re scoring and the ease with which they’re scoring them. Case in point Kings’ foes are shooting a league high 48.9 percent from the field and 42.2 percent from the perimeter which ranks 28th.
Offensively, Sacramento is performing much better ranking in the top 10 for a couple of key categories. They score 114.3 points per 100 possessions (16th) as they shoot 47.7% from the field (tied ninth) and 39.2% from the perimeter (5th).
A few games into the schedule it seems like this young Sacramento squad needed those matches to figure out their chemistry. Now that they’re clicking on offense, it’s time to correct the defensive woes of the team.
Coach Brown had high praise for Davion Mitchell after their win in Charlotte and if De’Aaron Fox is out for any length of time don’t be surprised if Mitchell’s number gets called.
Kevin Huerter led the scoring effort versus the Hornets with 26 while Mitchell offered 23 points off the bench. Domantas Sabonis was one point shy of a double-double (nine points, 16 rebounds, seven assists) while Harrison Barnes (16) was the other double-figure scorer.
Speaking of Fox, he left the last game in the first quarter after hurting his knee and subsequently is questionable for Wednesday.
Miami Heat
It’s been an extremely rough start to the season for the Heat. It’s not like they expected to easily replicate their Eastern Conference best record of last year but they certainly didn’t think they’d be 2-5 seven games into the campaign (now 3-5).
And the problems are on both sides of the hardwood…
Miami allow 110.6 points per 100 possessions ranking 11th and hold opponents to 46.5% shooting from the field (17th). One of the biggest areas of concern for the Heat is they’re allowing opponents to shoot 39% from the perimeter which ranks 26th.
Offensively, the Heat are struggling as well as the stats highlight — Miami are scoring 108.0 points per 100 possessions which ranks 26th while they shoot 44.9% from the field and 32.4% from the perimeter ranking 25th and 18th respectively.
Dewayne Dedmon (foot) and Victor Oladipo (knee) are questionable for Wednesday. Omer Yurtseven (ankle) is out indefinitely.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
Although Miami only has three wins in eight contests (Raptors, Blazers, Warriors) a closer glance shows they’ve been in most matches and that trio of clubs are arguably among the top tier of teams in the NBA.
Sacramento is vying to become the Suns of the Bubble and Cavs or Pelicans of 2022 but they still have work to do both on the court and in their mind set.
Miami on the other hand has some vets who could really benefit from their young guys taking an expedited step up so they can get extra rest. As for the record and counting the Heat out, Jimmy Buckets served up the quote of the season…
‘It’s growing pains. It’s not bad, and we’re gonna be just fine. … Y’all will look back at this, and be like, oh man, they started 2-5 and they ended the season f–king 77-5.” (as told to Sam Amick)
Although we know the Heat won’t go 77-0 (LOL) the fact he was that adamant about winning means there is no way in hell I’m betting against them until they actually lose again.
