Saturday, February 26th finds the Sacramento Kings playing the Denver Nuggets for the third of four scheduled matches this season.
The Nuggets won both prior meetings on January 7th (121-111) and February 24th (128-110). Sacramento will host the final meeting between the clubs on March 9th.
Last season the clubs played three times with Denver sweeping the series The Nuggets hold the all-time record having bested the Kings in 97 of their 190 matches
Sacramento Kings
Having just played the Nuggets on Thursday the Kings will have a fresh take on what’s required to collect a win and split the home and home series.
Scanning the key categories Denver didn’t dominate in any specific category, rather the Kings failed to produce in specific areas. They had fewer turnovers (15 vs. 17) but allowed the Nuggets to score almost double the points off them (18 vs. 10).
Additionally, they struggled from the perimeter shooting 31 percent (9 of 29) but allowed the Nuggets to shoot 42.9% (15 of 35).
Those were the greatest differences between the clubs which points directly to the defense being the issue and the clear downturn on the perimeter now that Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton are gone.
Domantas Sabonis had arguably his best game with the Kings collecting a double-double of 33 points and 14 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox (20), Harrison Barnes (14), and Jeremy Lamb (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
Richaun Holmes (back) is questionable to play Saturday versus the Kings. Terence Davis (wrist) is out indefinitely.
Denver Nuggets
Nikola Jokic came one assist shy of a triple-double with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists as one of five Nuggets who scored in double-figures.
Will Barton led the scoring effort for Denver with 31 points while Monte Morris (19), Javonte Green (12), and Aaron Gordon (12) were the other double-digit scorers. Gordon offered a bit of everything with six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
The victory was the 300th of Michael Malone’s career which led to Jokic grabbing the game ball to present to his coach after the game. Malone cognizant of how precarious his position is waxed poetic about that fact
“This is a tough business. I got fired in my first job. I’ve seen my father get fired. This business is not for the weak-minded. Here’s to 300 more.”
He’ll get ample opportunity to build upon that tally as the Nuggets have the eighth easiest strength of schedule to close the season with this match one of the league-high 15 home games (Heat, Magic, Rockets) to close their calendar.
Zeke Nnaji (hamstring) and DeMarcus Cousins (illness) are questionable to play Saturday versus the Nuggets. Vlatko Cancar (fractured foot), and Jamal Murry (ACL) are out indefinitely while Michael Porter Jr. (back surgery) is presumed out for the season.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction
The fact Sacramento got ample wide-open perimeter shots was by design as the Nuggets recognize the Kings’ struggles in that area. They invested in packing the paint and slowing Sacramento in transition to destabilize Sabonis and Fox.
Expect more of the same in this match as the Nuggets seek to close the half-game advantage the fifth-seeded Mavericks possess over them.
