Saturday, March 5th finds the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks playing for the fourth and final time this season. Dallas leads the season series 2-1 having won on October 31st (105-99) and December 31st (112-96) while Sacramento won 95-94 on December 29th.
Both teams last played on Thursday with the Mavericks defeating the Warriors 122-113 while the Kings held off the Spurs in a 115-112 victory.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Kings sweeping the regular-season series. The Mavericks hold the all-time record having bested the Kings in 98 of their 175 matches.
Sacramento Kings
The Kings have fallen 3.5 games off the pace to grab the final play-in spot with 17 games left on their schedule and only six of those matches against sub .500 clubs.

Harrison Barnes led the team in scoring with 27 while De’Aaron Fox added 26 points. The trio of Justin Holiday (12), Donte DiVincenzo (11), and Damian Jones (10) were the other double-figure contributors.
Richaun Holmes (back) is questionable to play versus Dallas on Saturday. Terence Davis (wrist) is out indefinitely.
Dallas Mavericks
With the Warriors in a late-season slump, the Mavericks benefitted from getting to play them twice in less than a week. On Sunday, they erased a double-digit deficit and on Thursday they held on to win.
Although the Mavs put up 122 points their defense was critical particularly down in the final frame when Jason Kidd had his club aggressively trap Steph Curry who didn’t attempt a field goal in the frame.
Doncic delivered a double-double of 41 points and 10 rebounds plus nine assists. Spencer Dinwiddie offered 17 points and was critical down Dorian Finney-Smith (18), Jalen Brunson (14), Reggie Bullock (14), and Dwight Powell (13) were the other double-figure contributors.
The trio of Luka Doncic (toe), Trey Burke (shoulder), and Sterling Brown (illness) are listed as questionable, Frank Ntilikina (ankle) was upgraded to probable while and Maxi Kleber (ankle) and Marquese Chriss (knee) were downgraded to out Saturday.
Theo Pinson (finger) and Tim Hardaway Jr.(foot) are out indefinitely.

Free Sacramento Kings vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA Prediction:
The only reason to question the Mavericks in this game is the eight players noted on the injury list.
It’s not uncommon for teams to say “questionable” as it affords them the opportunity to hide a longer-term injury (see the Magic who are the masters at this) or to force the opponent to work harder having to prepare for various scenarios.
Seems more likely Kidd would be doing the latter although they might have earmarked this as a good rest game for Doncic. The problem with that scenario is the 10 point spread that is more realistic with Doncic playing than not.
Dallas also has a tendency to play down to lottery teams but hopefully learned from consecutive losses versus the Magic (Jan 30th) and Thunder (Feb. 2nd).
