On Wednesday, February 16th, the Sacramento Kings are on the road to face the Chicago Bulls for the first of two matches this season. Sacramento will host the clubs in the second match on March 26th.
Both teams played on Monday with the Kings losing 85-109 to the Nets while the Bulls defeated the Spurs 120-109.
Last season, the teams played twice each winning on their home floor. The Bulls hold the all-time record having bested the Kings in 83 of their 164 matches.
Sacramento Kings
As the Kings adjust to their revamped roster they are 2-1 in his three games since big man Domantas Sabonis joined them. There is work to do but he’s already impacting how the team functions particularly offensively.
Interim head coach Alvin Gentry’s forte is offense and there are already signs he’ll be making tweaks to incorporate Sabonis more into the grand scheme of things.
Despite the loss to the Nets, Gentry was enthusiastic following the loss when discussing how their new big man is impacting the Kings .
“I think our guys have really enjoyed playing with him on the floor,” Gentry said. “I think our cuts have been much better because I think they anticipate getting the ball on the scoring cuts that they make. He’s just been a real stabilizer for us, really.”
He’s he was an All-Star the past two seasons he won’t be this year and because Tyrese Haliburton was traded he’ll be representing the Pacers so the Kings lone representative is Davion Mitchell who is in the Clorox Rising Stars event on Team Payton (Gary).
Chicago Bulls
DeMar DeRozan returns to the All-Star Game after a three-year absence and he’s not just going to Cleveland he’ll be starting in the big game Sunday on Team LeBron.
The 12-year vet is having a magical season and while the Bulls navigate adversity and injury he’s keeping them right up at the top of the East fighting the Heat, Bucks, and Cavaliers to own the top rung.
Already missing two key defensive players with Zach LaVine dealing with back spasms that are keeping him in and out of the lineup it’s often DeRozan who is having to make up the majority of the offense either directly scoring or via his playmaking.
He’s averaging 27.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.
Rookie Ayo Dosunmu will play in the Clorox Rising Stars event as part of Team Payton (Gary) while Zach LaVine is supposed to be part of the MTN DEW 3-point competition and Sunday game but with him missing games due to the back I wonder if he’s still participating.
Javonte Green (ankle) is questionable while Zach LaVine (back) is out Wednesday. Derrick Jones Jr. (knee), Lonzo Ball (knee), and Alex Caruso (wrist) are out indefinitely. Patrick Williams (thumb) is out for the season.

Sacramento Kings vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Analysis:
The matchup between Domantas Sabonis and Nikola Vucevic will be the main focus of this contest but the nuts and bolts of who’ll prevail will likely be contested between De’Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan as each leads their squad.
My money is on DeRozan who is having arguably the best season of his career.
