Thursday, November 14 finds Eastern Conference rivals the Portland Trail Blazers and. Milwaukee Bucks facing each other for the first time this season.
Last season, the squads played twice with the teams splitting the series. The Bucks hold the all-time record having bested the Blazers in 73 of their 125 matches.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers have lost four of their last five games including two in a row which featured a 24 point loss to the Rockets and the most recent 11 point loss to the Pelicans.

The New Orleans contest marked the debut of Carmelo Anthony in which he played 24 minutes producing 10 points on 4 of 14 shooting, plus four rebounds, a block, and five turnovers.
Although Anthony brought some extra scoring to the hardcourt the absence of Damian Lillard hurt the Blazers who were missing his team-leading 28.6 points, 7.1 assists and 1.1 steals. Lillard didn’t play due to back spasms.
In spite of the loss, six different Blazers scored in double figures. CJ McCollum led the way with 22 points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals, and a block. Hassan Whiteside posted a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds as did rookie Nassir Little with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Anfernee Simons who got the start in place of Lillard added 13 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Kent Bazemore also added 11 points.
The back spasms Lillard is dealing with will keep him out of the game versus the Bucks. Simons suffered a left ankle injury versus the Pelicans and is questionable for Thursday. Whiteside is also questionable as he deals with a hip injury.
Two Blazers are out for longer periods including Zach Collins who had shoulder surgery that will keep him out until early March. Jusuf Nurkic (leg) won’t return until mid-February.
The Blazers released Pau Gasol presumably to allow for more salary room either for the Anthony signing or to add another player.
Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to post numbers that surpass last season when he won the Most Valuable Player award. He leads the Bucks per game averages for scoring (30.3), assists (6.2), rebounding (14.0), field goal percentage (58.1%), and steals (1.5).

In Milwaukee’s most recent victory over the Bulls, Giannis led the team with a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds. Brook Lopez also registered a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
George Hill (18) and Donte DiVincenzo (15) were the other Bucks duo who pitched in with double-figure scoring.
Khris Middleton will miss up to a month with a left thigh contusion and expected to be back in action by early December.
