The Portland Trail Blazers have been an awesome story in the bubble. The question is whether they are really ready to be the next #8 seed to knock off a number one. There have not been many.
L.A. has not looked very good in the bubble but that does not change the fact that they have a guy named LeBron James who seems as hungry as ever.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers are a fun team and I really want them to beat the Lakers, or at lest push them, that doesn’t mean it is going to happen though.
The greatest advantage the Blazers have in in the backcourt. Damian Lillard has been fantastic since the restart and there is no reason to think that will change in this series.
CJ McCollum is the wild card for the Blazers. If he is doing his Robin thing than all of these games should be really close and Portland could easily bag a few.
Upfront is where the Blazers are going to be really tested. They are playing Carmelo Anthony at the three and he’s no match for LeBron on defense. How, and how well they defend the King is what this series will hinge on.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers did not look good in the bubble, there is no other way to put it. However, they did not sneak their way to the top spot in the Western Conference.
Also, if you really break it down granularly Anthony Davis did not look good in the bubble. He was wildly inconsistent for a player of his stature.
LeBron James will determine how this team will go. Dame Lillard has been awesome but any game where LeBron is the best player on the floor is likely to be won by his team.
However, the concerns are quite valid and the real question is whether they are game to game things or an indicator of something greater.
The greatest concern has to be the backcourt. I know LeBron is essentially the point guard and led the league in assists but Alex Caruso and Danny Green are a pretty light group.
This series could be one where Kyle Kuzma, who was looking like a burgeoning star before LeBron arrived proves that he still a relevant NBA player. If so the Blazer are going to be very stuck trying to guard him and LeBron.

Free Portland Trail Blazers vs. Los Angeles Lakers NBA Prediction:
The Blazers are the hyped team. They were great in the bubble and their stars looked really good in knocking off Memphis in the knockout game.
One advantage they could have given the Lakers would have been to play this game on Saturday, but the league didn’t do that. That helps Portland for sure.
I am expecting this one will follow the trend of the restart and be high scoring. There is a lot of firepower on both sides.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Over 229.5
In the bubble there have been a lot of fouls called. Both LeBron and Dame are great at getting those called and that will help play.
Davis is going to be a mismatch for whoever guards him. Sorry but Wenyon Gabriel is not going to cut it even with his high energy.
Look for the Lakers shooters, especially Green to make some shots. That is how we get to this number. Portland doesn’t quit and that will help too
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
