Portland wants to be a contender in the West but they have struggled early. This is a spot to make a statement.
The Clippers have been looking good and will only look better once Paul George is available.
L.A. is playing the night before so this might be a good spot to fade them against a quality opponent.

Portland has a funny schedule to start with 5 of their 7 games on the road. All of their wins have come away from home too.
Damian Lillard is playing like an All-Star averaging over 30ppg. Running mate CJ McCollum has been a little down though. We will have to watch that.

Portland has been getting quality minutes from Hassan Whiteside at center, he is averaging 14 and 12 in just 25 minutes per game.
That has made it harder to find time for Zach Collins. Collins is a much more versatile offensive player because he can shoot it from anywhere on the floor.
Second-year guard Anfernee Simons is getting some run as his shooting has improved. There is not a ton of room for minutes in the backcourt but he is quickly becoming a reliable scorer.
This game is going to be a test for Portland, which doesn’t want to fall too are out in a very competitive West. They might need Dame to win it for them.
The Blazers roster is light on the wing where they need someone to check Kawhi. Maybe he plays the night before and they don’t have to worry about it.
Los Angeles Clippers
L.A. got a revenge win against Utah to start the week. They are hosting Milwaukee Wednesday and have a big game after this one with Toronto coming to town.

Kawhi Leonard has been great this season but if they are resting him the offense gets a lot more interesting. You can’t doubt the production of Lou Williams but as a lead scorer, that is going to be a hard role for him. Ditto for Montrezl Harrell.
That might put a lot of pressure on Patrick Beverley and Landry Shamet to slow the Portland backcourt. The emphasis is on slow, I do not see that duo being able to go bucket for bucket with Lillard and McCollum.
The Clippers production is so tightly bundles any disruption by injury or absence or ineffectiveness is felt very obviously.
