Denver is fading down the stretch. The question is whether they can get another win or two to lock up the second spot in the Western Conference.
Portland has been mostly find since losing their center for the rest of the season. If they can get healthy for the playoffs maybe they can surprise.

If the Blazers can get this one they will be just a game behind the Nuggets with a couple to play. Not an easy road but not impossible either (not sure who holds the tiebreaker). They have not faded into oblivion.

Jusuk Nurkic was really coming into his own this season so it is too bad he is out, especially when the Nuggets, his former team are involved. CJ McCollum is out too and it loos like they are not going to look at bringing him back till at least the playoffs.
Enes Kanter has been filling in nicely for Nurkic, less so Rodney Hood for McCollum. Evan Turner has been really good of the bench of late, collecting a triple double in their last game.

Zach Collins has to be bummed that Gonzaga was eliminated from the NCAAs but maybe that focused his game. He scored 18 off the bench in the last one. They can get more out of him for sure.
And there is always Dame, one of the best closers in the league. Hopefully they do not burn him out down the stretch.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets rebounded from back to back losses, including a disappointing effort against Golden State with an emphatic win over San Antonio the other night. Given it was a possible playoff preview they have to have more confidence heading into this one.
The win saw Nikola Jokic finish just a rebound away from a triple double but that is nothing new. They also got really good production from the bench with Monte Morris and Malik Beasley both scoring 19 points. The minutes were very equitable.

This is the first of back to back games against Portland and possibly the most important. If they get the home win then ceding their position to the Blazers will be pretty tough. I am sure they are well aware of the math too.
