In arguably the biggest game of the day, the Portland Trail Blazers and Brooklyn Nets will tip off in the nightcap.
Depending on what the other three teams chasing the play-in berth accomplish in their matches this game could cement who the eighth and ninth seeds will be.
Portland Trail Blazers
Portland has moved into eighth but still isn’t out of the woods. Like Memphis, the Blazers control their own fate which isn’t something the Suns and Spurs have the benefit of.
Phoenix could post an 8-0 record in the bubble and still not get into the play-in tourney. The Suns must win and one of Memphis or Portland must lose. Likewise, the Spurs have to win and also have two of the other three teams lose.
If the Blazers beat the Nets they are in. If they lose this match they need two of the other three teams to lose. All four teams play Thursday versus clubs who are locked into their seeds.
Anyone doubting Damian Lillard should reconsider. After missing two free throws in the Clippers match and the final shot Dame has gone on to score 51 and 61 points while sinking 33 of 34 free throws.
In the clutch time win over the Mavericks, Carmelo Anthony (26), the ever-impressive Gary Trent Jr. (11), and Zach Collins (11) were the other double-figure contributors.
CJ McCollum is playing through a minor lower back fracture (sorry – but any fracture in your back sounds ominous). He’s expected to play Thursday.
Brooklyn Nets
Much like the Phoenix Suns, the Brooklyn Nets have been one of the more pleasant surprises of the Disney bubble. While they did have an easier strength of schedule as they amassed a 5-2 record, not all their contests were easy.
Brooklyn played three elite teams in the seven matches beating the Bucks and Clippers but lost to Boston. The Milwaukee match was very notable given all Bucks starters played, albeit not full minutes.
Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, and Jarrett Allen weren’t in the lineup punctuating how impressive the win was. Kawhi Leonard was on the court right up until the final buzzer in the win over the Clippers.
The fifth win was versus the Magic with the top trio sitting again and play got very chippy. The Nets will play the Toronto Raptors in their first-round series
Although LeVert, Harris, and Allen are listed as probable it’s unlikely they’ll play their normal minutes, if at all. Chris Chiozza (groin) and Donta Hall (ankle) are questionable while Jamal Crawford is listed as probable.

Free Portland Trail Blazers vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
A major benefit the Blazers have is they’ll know the results of the Grizz-Bucks, Spurs-Jazz and Suns-Mavericks games prior to tip-off.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Blazers -9
If the Grizzlies, Spurs, and Suns all win it will add extra stress to the Blazers. That said, Lillard seems to function best under the most pressurized circumstance.
Watch his eyes as the match begins; it will tell everything you need to know.
Bottom line—I wouldn’t bet against Dame Lillard right now. Would you?
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
