The Phoenix Suns will be on the road to take on the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, March 8th.
The tip-off is set for 7:00 ET from Amway Center.
The Suns started off as a 7 point favorite and that number is now up to 7.5. The total has gone from 224 to 224.5.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns have been a very impressive team this season and that really should not surprise people. Even though they did not win it all last year, they are a more than capable team and it would not shock me if they once again made a deep run in the postseason.
In their last four games, this team is 2-2. Even though they have a very good overall record, it would not shock me if they do not necessarily play great in the near future, if they continue to be a short-handed group.
With the injury of Chris Paul, other players on this team are really going to have to step up. A lot of the pressure will now be put on Devin Booker, who has been quite good this season, but has been sidelined the last multiple games.
Unless this crew has a total collapse, it is fair to say that they will be the number one seed in the Western Conference. That, along with them getting a healthy Chris Paul back on the court, will make this squad a very dangerous one come postseason time.
Phoenix dropped to the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday in a finals re-match by a score of 132-122. Even though they were without some key people, they were in the game for a while, but eventually the more powerful team was too much for them to handle.
Offensively, I actually really liked the way this team played, given the fact that they were missing their two best scorers, but the defense simply did not come to play. Yes, they went up against a very good offense and the defending champs, but you really should not be allowing over 130 points in an NBA game.
Orlando Magic
Boy, has it been a rough season for the Magic. Essentially, they have done the exact opposite of what the Suns have done in the 2021-2022 season.
Right now, the Magic have a record of 16-49. That win and loss mark pretty much says all you need to know about the direction of this franchise.
It is one thing to have multiple successful drafts in a row for them to get much better, but I still believe they are going to have to acquire some proven veteran players who can help their club right now. Sure, it is good to go out there and develop young talent which you need to do, but something can be said for having guys who have already shown what they are about, especially in a league that is driven on talent.
Orlando lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday by a score of 124-96. That kind of loss, for as bad as it was, really does not surprise me all that much.
It was really a bad second quarter that did these guys in during the loss to Memphis, as they got outscored by a 37-16 margin. Even though they played better in the following quarters, it really did not mean a whole lot, as the damage was already done.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Suns are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games on the road against Orlando.
- The Suns are 12-2 SU in their last 14 games on the road.
- The Magic are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games in the Pacific Division.
- The Magic are 4-8 SU in their last 12 games.
Phoenix Suns vs. Orlando Magic NBA Analysis:
After not playing their best game at all, the Suns do get a much softer landing when they head to Orlando to face off this with Magic team.
Of course, Phoenix cannot take games for granted, but this is one they really have to get. Given the kind of team they are with title aspirations, a loss to this team would be a very bad look for them.
The Orlando defense, which as we know is lacking a lot of the time, is going to be challenged in a big way when they try and slow down the offense for the Suns. It could be a long day for them if they are not careful.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Suns ATS
With Chris Paul out indefinitely and Devin Booker potentially still out for this one, it will make it harder for Phoenix to play well here, but I still feel they will and trust they can get the cover.
Even in the loss to the Bucks, they showed they have the ability to score plenty of points when they are short-handed. I feel they can do that in Orlando, along with their defense playing better than they did in Milwaukee.
