Monday, February 25, 2019, the Phoenix Suns arrive in South Beach to battle the Miami Heat. Phoenix last played Saturday losing to their fellow lottery bound squad the Atlanta Hawks (120-112). Miami also played Saturday in a lopsided 119-96 loss to the Detroit Pistons.

The last time these clubs met on December 7, 2018, the visiting Heat took the match 115-98.

Miami has owned Phoenix winning 16 of their last 17 meetings and is on a current four-game win streak over the Suns. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Heat in 32 of their 60 matches.

Two seasons ago the Heat stumbled to an 11-30 first half. They reversed the second half producing a 30-11 record but came up just short finishing ninth in the East.

This season they are in another fight for the eight seed but in a marginally better spot sitting 10th, 1.5 games back of the eighth seed.

Two-thirds of the way into the season it seems only two seeds (possibly three if the Nets stumble) are up for grabs. Miami is fighting the trio of the Pistons, Hornets, and Magic for those two seeds.

Miami recently fell off the playoff ladder having stumbled over the last 10 games ( 2-8 record). Conversely, the Magic are 8-2 in their last 10 games with a half-game lead over Miami.

None of Rodney McGruder (bruised right knee), Justise Winslow (left knee soreness) or James Johnson (left shoulder AC sprain) are expected to play.
