Wednesday, October 30 finds the two big surprises of the early season meeting as the upstart Phoenix Suns face the struggling Golden State Warriors for the first time this season.
Last season, the Pacific Division squads played four times with the Warriors winning three contests. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Warriors 138 of their 244 matches.
Phoenix Suns
Through the first week of action, the Phoenix Suns have provided the biggest shock value in the NBA. Between Deandre Ayton getting suspended for 25 games for illegal use of a diuretic and the club serving the Clippers their first loss the Suns are making noise.

Although they have a .500 record Phoenix could just as easily be 4-0. Both losses were by a single point with one occurring in overtime in Denver versus the Nuggets and the second against the best defense (Jazz) in the league.
Moreover, both losses occurred with questionable calls. The bottom line is Monty Williams deserves major praise for getting his team to buy into their identity and even without some of their top producers on the court they aren’t just competitive they’re a tough out.
Six players scored in double-digits in the loss to the Jazz with Devin Booker (21) leading the way and Ricky Rubio (10 points, 10 rebounds) falling two assists shy of a triple-double.
Although the addition of Aron Baynes, Ricky Rubio, and Dario Saric has factored the resurgence of Frank Kaminsky is perhaps the most shocking storyline of the early season.
Ty Jerome (ankle) and Ayton (suspension) won’t play.
Golden State Warriors
While the Suns are succeeding in spite of issues befalling them the Warriors are spiraling after years of dominance.

Although the Warriors got in the win column in their third effort I’m not sure defeating an injury-depleted Pelicans squad equates to having corrected their slide given how badly they lost to the Clippers and Thunder.
After week one the Warriors were dead last defensively, but perhaps more concerning ranked 24th offensively. Albeit, this club is dealing with injuries to key players, but they’ve looked disjointed on both sides of the ball.
Six Warriors scored in double-digits in the defeat of the Pelicans. Draymond Green produced a triple-double (16 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists) while Stephen Curry (26 points, 11 assists) and Damion Lee (23 points, 11 rebounds) posted double-doubles.
Golden State enters the match with a slew of injuries. A trio of players is questionable including Jacob Evans (left adductor strain), Kevon Looney (neuropathy condition) and Alec Burks (ankle).
Another trio is definitely out including Alen Smailagic (ankle), Willie Cauley-Stein (foot) and Klay Thompson (knee).
NBA Betting Trends:
- Warriors are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.
- Warriors are 9-1in the last 10 head to head contests.
- Over Under is 6-4 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups.
Free Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Prediction:
The joy the Warriors experienced in the win over the Pelicans was fleeting as this Suns squad are for real with even scoring distribution, a commitment to defense and a team sick of losing.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Suns have too much firepower
The Warriors couldn’t stop the Thunder who hadn’t scored 100 points until they played Golden State. Phoenix is a whole other can of worms as they boast the third-best offense and 11th ranked defense.
